I think this really hit home just the sheer bodily horror of vader. He went from a handsome, gifted young man with a beautiful wife and child on the way to basically a torso on life support, suffering from full-body burns, with tubes and machines painfully keeping him alive. I dont think i realized how terrifying and truly psychologically torturous that would be.
Some of the comics go into great detail of it. Supposedly his suit would scratch and peel at the burns, meaning he was in constant pain while wearing it. The respirator was not well functioning and he always had to use the force just to breathe. I imagine this was done on purpose because the Sith use pain and anger for strength
yeah and if you think about it the emperor just did it to keep him from becoming better than himself. grievous had a much better suite and he had only a few organs left.
He also had to use the force just to be able to walk correctly.. meaning we never seen "Vader" at his full potential because he relied on the force for damn near everything just to function.
Not only that, but think about his mental state. He has to live with knowing that he killed Padmé with his own hands. And at the time, he didn’t know that his children survived, so he thought he killed his unborn twins as well. His bodily pain was probably nothing compared to his psychological and emotional pain. There was nothing that he hated more than himself.
imagine spending years thinking you killed your wife and unborn child. The guilt would be overwhelming. I always felt like when Luke told him to 'let go of his hate' he was referring to the hate Vader had for himself. He is such a tragic character.
Fuck. I remember how we used to laugh every time while seeing this dialogue. We didn’t understand that thing. “Love has blinded you” so deep she fell Anakin. So right she was
I wish more people understood the psychological lessons often imbedded in film, they can be so meaningful and people don't even really comprehend it, Anakin fell because of multiple factors, complicated past, hard childhood, Difficulty controlling emotions, Desire to be validated and recognized for his achievements (Arrogance), Fear of losing the things he loved, Respected authority figure taking advantage ect. Things real people struggle with and if you don't work through your shit, you too will fall.
dont forget- vaders suit is meant to uncomfortable so he has more access to the darkside through that pain. he chose to keep it as well....as a personal punishment
For .45-.52 seconds is where it hits hard. When he stares down as he comes to the realization of who he became vs what could have been. Those few seconds to me symbolizes Anakin/Vaders humanity.
You know people always tend to separate Anakin and Vader into two different people but here you can see Vader is still Anakin in his rare moments of lucidity. Dark side gave Anakin power he asked for but in return it took everything from him
Ive rewatched this like 100 times the past week. Its been like 6 months since I had a break up from who i thought , and maybe still think is the love of my life. And this video just hits a nerve, that love is both beautiful and tragic, and I think what gets to me the most is like Anakin, reflecting back now I think being scared of losing her is what ultimately made me lose her in the end. Love can truely blind you from the truth. I do hope one day maybe we can rekindle our love , because the image of anakin, broken as vader haunts me , yet i re watch this over and over tormenting myself with the thought that , "thats it , thats what you will become if you continue doing this" Not ofcourse physically, but metaphorically, a broken man. Someone so lost in the past , not moving forward and so resentful of everything that is.
That's crazy, man, I hope you make the right decision. Always remember that life will never be all good. This kind of life would be meaningless and sad. Those moments are important for your own development, in good times and bad. It's about getting stronger and wiser. I'm sure you'll find a solution somehow.
This hits near home. I mean imagine separation from your mother at a young age, being mentally tortured by her death and when you finally start feeling that you may lose the only person close to you as your mother was and being told to cope with it by a little green dude can make any man angry beyond control.
I believe they could but palpatine kept it from Vader. The healing tank water was replaced with normal water and Vader had no idea because of the placebo effect.
Well the obvious explanation is that it wouldn't be so dramatic. On the other hand Vader never complains about his injuries and the pain lets him tap into the dark side deeper so he doesn't care about an upgrade
@@alexheller5602 They could just connect with his receptors and make him feel pain to whatever degree he wants or need. And there would be no necessity to feel it all the time. And no necessity to look like an hideous abomination.
They probably could have. I think it was mainly to keep him from overthrowing Palpatine cuz if Anakin could be brought back to his human form his power would be crazy. His suit was also very painful for him to wear which kept him angry making him more powerful.
A dream reminding you of the mountains of potential for a great life… then you wake up to the nightmare of the outcome of the choices you actually made… 😥
Sabah - Akşam bu videoyu izliyorum bağımlılık yaptı :) - Birde benim yaşanmışlıkların üstüne gelince bir çarpıntı yaptırıyo , eline emeğine sağlık çok güzel olmuş.
We often think love and hate are opposites: they are two sides of the same coin. It was Anakin's love that turned him to the dark side. Anakin's love for his mother which fueled his grief and rage at the raiders, causing him to slaughter them. It was his love for Padme and child that fueled his terror of losing her thus his resentment at the Council for refusing to help him and his rage at Obi-Wan's perceived betrayal for choosing the Republic over him. Love really DID blind Anakin to right and wrong, darkness versus light.
As much as vader wanted to eliminate the fact that he was Anakin Skywalker i think he had many thoughts about his past life during down time like this. Amazingly done🙌🏻
On top of that, Palpatine made his suit insanely outdated and painful as a sort of punishment for losing to Obi wan on mustafar, and to fuel his power in the dark side.
