Erica was tripping. Men don't need to be hitting women, but it's a lot easier to keep that going when a woman isn't trying to fight you. Margeaux was absolutely right, I've been saying this all along to my family and straight friends, that the black community complain about the downlow brothers and this and that, but the reason why downlow exists is because of this mentality in the first place. That kind of shaming and gay bashing makes black men not want to come out, and want to try to suppress their feelings. As a gay black man, I'm glad that I'm STRONG enough to live both lives and be proud of both, just like you said Justin. I've been dogged by nonblacks with racism and I've been dogged by my own community with homophobia. I do not separate the two... I have a friend like that who is a bisexual black man and he's a black man first, he's very into black power and he doesn't get as sensitive to gay issues and gay bashing the way I do. I respect his opinion because at the end of the day were both gay black men, but it's interesting like you said.
It's similar to black women, black women have this separation too Justin, you have some black women who are Black first and you have some who are feminist and a woman first and you have some who are evenly split as both black and a woman and fight for respect in both ways. It's just very interesting. But yes Margeaux was right on, but she's so right. Black women are our biggest supporters but our biggest degraders at the same time, they love us so much, but when they get mad at a straight man the first thing they go to is that "he's gay" as if it's something negative, and this mentality drives the black straight man to super macho and super homophobic and it causes young black gay men to hide in shame. Prime example, married to Medicine, Quad lives and breathes gay lingo but uses being a "Queen" to attack Lisa's hubby.
Yes I agree..but its also fuck up how being a gay women are more accepted then a guy man. I was so here for Margaux when she was talking about gay men, especially gay black men not coming out in the LGBT community because of people judging and making it seem like its a bad thing to be a gay man, and that's why some black men don't come out because it's true. Her standing up and saying that made me respect and support her so much more because of it...and I thought I was the only one that caught that Joseline thought Nikko was gay because he doesn't have multiple baby mommas like her baby daddy does.
YESSSS!!! I remember watching this tv show and this guy complimented another guy on his body and constantly made little "side eye" comments and everyone thought he was gay but he just explained that he's comfortable enough with his sexuality to say things like that. I honestly feel like some of those people who get weirded out or over think it way too much when someone of the same sex compliments them isn't sure about their sexuality
