Agreed. Not to mention his accent. I've noticed that in a lot of these older mini-series the actors doing American and Canadian accents do them very badly.
Yes but for me I find that once you get past his 80's hair and sunglasses, this Cedric is more human, likeable and less relentlessly waspish than the modern one. He has better scenes too. Such as the brilliantly imaginative Venetian party he organised (which was actually done at the Savoy hotel for George A. Kessler who hosted a ''Gondola Party'' where the courtyard was flooded and scenery erected around the four walls) Cedric's character here has more colour too. His role brought some exotic mythology, culture and history to the drama. The famous theme party he organised saw him bring the ancient annual ritual of the Marriage of the Sea to life. With long hair and aquatic make-up he was the sea-bride (Adriatic) ready to be wed to the Venetian Doge. Brilliant!
@@hk19478 Well then again it's not supposed to really be Canadian - well that is it is but in the book they said ti was not quite Canadian and not quite French or something like that so I guess they made what they could out of that description.
No one like the original Cedric. Not even close. The accents are different too, and less easy to understand here, less enjoyable, than the original one. In short, nothing like the first one.
