In case Love Island casting folks watch these interviews, let me drop this comment about the importance of selecting Black men like Kordell who are actually immersed in and grew up in Black communities/culture as well. THEY pick monoracial Black women. This season was refreshing because too often, we see shows cast Black men or biracial men who are distant from Black culture. They usually don't pick their Black women. Then other men aren't picking Black women either, even when a Black woman is the most stunning one there. I think some intentionality went into casting this season, and I hope it improves and continues for this show and other dating shows as well.
Yes! I agree. Whether it was intentional or just happenstance, I so loved seeing better outcomes for black women on this show this season. It can be so frustrating seeing black women put in these spaces and then constantly rejected because they don’t place men who actually want to date black women. More effort needs to be put into casting and I hope this show gives other similar platforms a wake up call to do better. Because look what can happen when it’s done right.
@@melde9165 I actually think many of these dating shows cast Black men regularly, but where they mess up is they just assume those Black men will pick or at least be open to Black women. Then they don't. I think the key is specifically casting Black men who are surrounded by Black community and therefore actually date monoracial Black women. There are so many of them, but looking at these dating shows it's hard to tell sometimes because they don't cast them. That's why when I saw how Kordell and Coye reacted to Serena and Jana first episode, I knew the season was gonna be worth watching!
@@BeautyNGlamour Absolutely agree! Gotta stop using the same formula and expecting different results. Or seeing Black women get looked over show after show and just not adjusting your casting methods to account for this disparity.
Thank you for asking Jana that question about representation. So far no other interviewer I've seen has spoken on it, and it's a major factor that drew a lot of Black viewers in. Casting directors need to focus on selecting men who are attracted to women of all shades because this is one of the few times I've seen Black women not get the SUPER short end of the stick on a dating show. And even now they still feel that they did kinda get the short end of the stick, and I believe them. Beauty is beauty, and shows need to cast men who recognize that.
@@hbassey honestly, I wouldn't be surprised if they actually don't ask any of those questions at all lol Probably just letting Black women fiend for ourselves lol
Miguel is so articulate with his words. I love the communication him and Leah have. I really hope they make it work. 😊 The song I think that best suits them is “All of Me” by John Legend. I love PPG and PGGM. Anyone of them winning would have been well deserved. 🥰 By far this is the best interview I have seen/read. ❤
Kordell, Kenny, and Miguel I have to give their parents their roses bc how they handle themselves, how they’re open and receptive when someone is critical of their actions or explaining how their actions hurt them. Y’all raised some amazing men from what we’re all being shown. We don’t know them personally but what we’re being shown is that y’all raised them boys right. And whether they stay as a couple with our fav girls or not they all are handling themselves well and I love to see it.
I'm so glad Ja'na talked about being a darkskin woman, that's why I almost cried my heart out when she was so close to being voted off, the "it's so obivous they're talking about me" resonated deep within my soul. A lot of people in love island s6 weren't *darkskin* black women, there's not that many people who you can confide in *and* share the same experiences with Im so glad Ja'na had serena and serena had Ja'na, black women relationships are so soothing because we do our best to support each other.
@@mgueye2mgueye261 right! Even in the first episode when Ja'na had been introduced, the first thing she did was hop right over to serena and give her a hug, I loved that
Best Interview. You can always see the difference in the questions and the focus with Black interviewers ❤❤. The other interviews always want to ask questions about the other couples and center the white people instead of focusing on who is being interviewed. I don't want to hear Jana and Kenny's reaction to Leah or Kaylor. I don't want to hear Serena's thoughts on Aaron and Kaylor. 🙄
All of this!! My exact thoughts. These couples are interesting enough on their own and carried the season in their own way. There is no need to de-center them and ask about everyone else. I really appreciated this interviewers questions and ability to keep the focus on the people he was interviewing
Miguel is so genuine and I love how he approaches tough situations. Shows how he’s so mature and it makes me so happy that he’s with Leah!!! She deserves it!
I really love this series of interviews. He didn't ask any recycled questions and really asked some questions that I wanted to know and even some I didn't even think of but was curious to hear the answers to. Super great journalism!
Kennnyyyyyy and Janaaaaaaaaa !! Kordellllll and Serenaaaaa!!! SERENA AND JANAAAA BLACK WOMAN WHO WONN !!! & been a beautiful representation on this show. PPG supremacy and I wish them allllll blessings , health and love !!!
This is by far the best interview I’ve seen. The only one who asked new questions and prioritized the interviewees answers as opposed to talking at them about a situation and then being like “what do you think”. Bravo.
Kinda funny how Nicole is chalking up Kaylor and Aaron not being in the final to them not having the screen time when the audience was BEGGING for them to get off their screen
Only 12 mins in at Kordell and Serena interview and it’s the BEST interview I’ve seen with the couples lol. Great questions and different questions vs the other interviews I’ve seen. Thank you for the ring question.
Jana is SOOO beautiful the way she’s nailing all the questions and the way she carries herself I love her so much!!! Serena and Kordell had me cheezinggg and kicking my feet back and forth 😭 they’re so beautiful inside and out
I like how Kendal and Nicole handled this interview with grace and confidence despite of all the hates they get after Love Island. And still stand for each other. We hope their relationship will grow. Rooting for you two just keep your heads up high.
Thank you so much for asking different questions! And for keeping the focus centered on these individuals vs the others not being interviewed. I appreciated the safe space you created for Jana and Serena to talk about their experiences as black women on the show. Kudos to you! Best interview I’ve seen 👏🏽
Miguel is so real! Love their relationship because they moved in real life pace and his communication? 💯💯 Hope they make it because that man is in Love😅
Miguel and Leah feels the MOST real and authentic couple of love island ever in my opinion. They approached it exactly how they would on the outside and I respect that so much
This is the best interview I've seen so far. He keeps asking all of them the right questions and all about the couples experiences. Some other interviewers keeps asking and focusing so much about Aaron, Kaylor and Rob. Why them? They're not the finalists! If you want to know about them so bad then ask them directly. 🙄
One of the best interviews I’ve seen. Kordell and Serena are so in love!! Jana and Kenny are such a stunning couple!! Miguel likes Leah way more than he leads on..
When Serena was saying, “you couldn’t tell my man SHI” IKDR😂😂glad she see it too. They genuinely fw each other and I love that #kordena all the way. Also the dynamic between Jana and Kenny I love it so much. She talks and he loves to just add input here and there. Loveee these two couples so much lol
I've watched all their post-Villa interviews, and this is by far the best one. He asked all the right questions, from questions about the rings to hair maintenance-literally everything we wanted to know. It was a phenomenal interview!
THIS is an interview. The questions were amazing, especially the one about black women and our emotions and how they can quickly turn into stereotypes. BEAUTIFUL job.
