I like how the "Love Like you" line can be interpreted in two different ways. It can be literally, as in someone who doesn't know how to love wants to learn how to love from someone else. Or more metaphorically, as in two people who know how to love want to learn to express there love like another. For example: One person might show there love by hugging and kissing another. Well another person might express it by spending time or taking care of another person. hence "Love like you" as in I want to learn how to express that I care in the way you do. I love this song.

I think she left spinel because she thought that since she was getting her own colonie that she would have to be more mature and she saw spinel as childish but pink didn’t know what to do at the time because she was having so many mixed feelings

@Le Baguette Yeah and plus, the warps we're broken and if they weren't, then the diamonds would have been able to locate Rose and all the crystal gems and most likely shatter them. I also think Pink didn't actually think Spinel would just stay there, I think someone would have found her if they were using a warp and it malfunctioned and took them to her. (Or.. a more smarter version; Since Blue visited all Pink's favorite places she could have visited the garden, because the knew who Spinel was and I'm guessing they gave Pink Spinel.) Or if she did just abandon ; Every gem was made and taught to be a certain way. The Diamonds were made to be above everyone else, the not care for anyone else or think of them of anything besides lower than them. At the time of Pink getting her colony, she was still a victim to these rules so she followers them. She only thought of Spinel as a playmate, a toy, nothing else or above. But that was how she was made to be and to think. Even if Pink did take Spinel, I genuinely think Spinel would have been shattered, broken, or hurt if she was in the war. She was made to be a toy, soft, made for fun not violence. And you may be thinking "But spinel almost killed Steven!". Yes she did, but that was when the worst of her came out, the was the moment when she truly was turned *"upside down"*, broken. She grew so much hate and pain front that one experience and that caused her to go against everything she knew. If Pink took her with her, that would've never happened, nothing would seep into her that would give her the mindset she had in the Movie. (Not to kill Steven but to be opened up to what was going on and rebell.) She would still be blind since she was made to be playful and fun and not at all serious. I'm not excusing what she did and even if these theories are wrong you've got to admit, she made a hell of a redemption if you look at her arc backwards.

@Kaine Koehler I mean if it's in a point of view of a gem or diamond, every gem was pretty much an object.(Even the gems thought if themselves as objects or tools to be used by their authority) Just think of them like that. (I know it sounds inhuman but we have to think in the eyes of a gem) Sapphires are for telling futures, pearls are for servents, bismuths are for weapon making, rubys are for protection, Amethysts are suppose to be strong to fight. But anyways, Pink wanted a colony so she could be treated equally as the other diamonds were. Like imagine if you're trying to seem grown up infront of your older sisters and you bring a stuffed bunny with you. That doesn't add up. And I agree with you on "Spinel was just a toy and when you mature you leave toys behind or throw them away" thing. And even if she was just being cruel; Who cares? She's a diamond. Who would care about some toy that she left on a floating garden in space? No-one. And even if you say "She's supposed to be you're friend that's why she says to steven, I'm your Best Friend!". Yeah she might have thought that but it's not really true if you think about it. Her literal purpose is for entertainment. She is literally a tool to her owner and thought of nothing less. You could say she's "programed" to have the mindset that her owner is her friend. I mean in literal speaking if she did take her to earth and had her in the rebellion, 1. the diamonds would know it's Pink because it seems they didn't really stay anywhere except on the garden therefore how would Rose Quarts find PINK DIAMOND'S Spinel. 2. She wasn't made to fight in a war. Unlike some AU's where she's a crystal gem, if you actually think about it; She's a toy. She's harmless. She's too childish. And yeah she could've killed Steven in the movie but her -mindset- changed due to the abandonment. She wouldn't have that mindset since nothing really groundbreaking happened to her. You might say "The war could cause some damage" well Pearl was fine during the war, she was fine fighting for Rose but she pretty much broke when she gave up her form. I said my peace.

Spinel almost destroyed earth and nearly killed Steven and all she said was "I'm sorry" and then left with Diamonds and everyone loved her. (Very good arc though ngl.) Pink on the other hand saved earth, sacrificed her authority for gems, made a few human mistakes but learned from them and grew but everyone hates her because of a few mistakes she made when she was a diamond.

Would be cool but I don't think this can ever happen unless he goes into his room and says I want to talk to pink diamond.

Rose and Steven would be amazing together. She never became the version of herself she wanted to be, but I think Steven would have been the final piece for that had she lived to raise him.

Steven was not Rose/Pink, he was Steven. He was better than Rose. Despite everything that happened to him, he chose to fix it because he knew he had a duty to those around him. He is the true hero that they all needed and that he needed himself. The sad part is that his help is like an empire, you stay strong as long as you are growing. Steven has nowhere to go from the movie. Perhaps that is why all his problems are rising up again, he was so busy helping others that he didn't help himself.

THEN THE SHOW WOULD HAVE TURNED OUT DIFFERENT

I know. But you have to understand Pink/Rose "wanted this so badly" (Pearl, Three Gems and a Baby). You could say that Pink's dissatisfaction _was_ (part of) her purpose, but that seems to be an effect of her purpose of being a jester and throwing balls. So things happened and Pink started a war. After going through so much, it's better to say that Pink's selfishness (wanting more out of her life) would have metamorphosed into Rose's desire to be selfless and bring life forth. We know that Rose eventually encountered Greg. We know that she expressed a desire to become her own person in that conversation about how Greg and baby Sour Cream were the same species. From this, we can infer that Rose wanted to develop her own character and purpose in life than have one handed to her. By giving up her form, Rose committed what the ultimate act of selflessness: giving yourself up for another person willingly. For a character, that kind of depth is honestly amazing.

I think most people are forgetting that we learned the story backwards. The good Rose we know of was what she actually was like last time she was alive, and the Pink who had tantrums and made mistakes was thousands of years ago, and was abused and silenced every day. She got better over time, and tried her best to protect Earth and her loved ones, even if some sacrifices were made along the way.

I really want to have the same opinion. I feel so bad about Pink diamond. I want to like her. But I really can't. She caused the gem war. She caused the shattering of thousands of gems. She indirectly was the reason why Lapis was trapped in a mirror. I really want to like PD but j can't bring myself to do it after all she did.

Honestly she would be worse for bringing a child like gem to a place where death insues

Honestly for me she’s in the grey area of the white and black spectrum, or good or bad if you will. She’s not completely good and not completely bad and she really expresses being human despite her not being one.

Or maybe because there's no new intro for steven universe because the new season 6 hasnt come out yet

am I the only one that still likes PD after the movie? I know, I know that diamonds are perfect and everything but look PD was in some way off-color because hEy she just went against blue and yellow to earth and shapeshift to Rose. That makes me think that PD could do some stupid mistakes like humans.

Pinks progression and story are being told backwards, her actions always seem to have consequences but she really did want to be better, unfortunatly many fans simply jump unto the I hate Pink train because they dont understand that we are seeing her story backwards. The thing about Spinel is that yes she went through a trauma but going through trauma does not excuse her from trying to destroy the Earth. I love Pink becuase she feels like one of the most human like characters on the entire show, and I think a reason why people keep jumping on the hate train is because she reminds them too much about themselves. We mean well but our actions have unintended consequences and we make plenty of mistakes while attempting to become better people, which is what pink was doing. Trying to become a better person but her actions led to unintended consequences. She reminds me of ourselves like Spinel and her persona as Rose we try to move on from our past even if our actions may not be the best.

I know this is just a comment pointing it out and I’m not trying to really argue with you but I just want to point something out. Yeah, pink diamond wasn’t a good person, but she also wasn’t a horrible person. The idea of her character is that some people are morally grey. To be honest though, she is easily more on the side of good person over bad person. She did what she thought was right and by the end fixed her mistakes. Don’t forget, despite having been a gem ruler, she didn’t do galaxy wide conquest and mass murder like the other three. She still liberated the earth which meant she saved billions of life forms. Sure she left spinel on a planet alone, but at the same time she also had to leave pink pearl so we can probably assume the other diamonds forced her to do it. So yeah, good people can do bad things, but it’s just uncomfortable for people to think like that because it’s just easier to put people in moral boxes they just don’t fit in.

Ythan Lingat that was well said 👌 and I totally agree with you on that and recently I’ve been thinking about the whole Spinel situation and it made me think about how Pink wanted to more forward and try to mature so that the other Diamonds would take her seriously but Spinel was getting in the way of that I think Spinel was being sorta selfish and being the toxic friend by keeping Pink from reaching her goals and Pink sorta knew that was her intention so she had to trick into staying at the garden sure it was the wrong way to solve the problem but it had to be done or at least that’s how I see it

All the bad things she did were in the past, and yes, I really hate that she left poor Spinel in a garden for 6,000 years, but she was against shattering and tried to be as nice as she could as an ex-evil dictator who was rebelling against the role she had been forced into. Everyone seems to forgive the other diamonds, but they were evil dictators who didn't plan on stopping anytime soon, and yes, Blue and Yellow were suffering in silence but White has partially no redeeming factors whatsoever but was still forgiven because she made a decision based on the realization that she wasn't flawless (which should already be a default mindset and the fact that she only changed her mind because she wasn't perfect really goes to show how selfish she was, especially when after thousands of years without Pink being around she decides she's willing to literally murder her son). If we're going to be forgiving of the diamonds and all the other gems who did bad, there is absolutely no way it's fair to think Pink is the bad one considering the fact that she fought to protect despite her upbringing being abuse and being forced to cry in a jail cell until she was forgiven. I'd also like to add that OG Pink Pearl/Volleyball isn't a good argument against her either (SUF spoiler alert) since Steven also turned Pink and started to have tantrums just like her, and if they didn't have those diamond potions that fixed corruption and shattering, Jasper would've been permanently shattered by Steven, making what he did then even WORSE than Pink hurting Pink Pearl/Volleyball. Pink was not evil, she made mistakes, but also shifted her purpose to protecting the life on Earth.

She probably forgot about Spinel at that point, since for her it was just a tool like any other gem. Was what she did horrible? Yes, but it wasn't any worse than anything other gems have done before changing.
