Sofia R.O Sofia R.O totally agreed. Saw that with the German version before the tour started and really hoped it would extend to this production. I think over the years since the original London production this story has been fleshed out quite well. From the beginning I was really not a fan of this whole business so actually ceased following its’ journey beyond the melbourne production and dvd, it was by accident that I stumbled on the German production and started forming a different perception, I’m so glad I took the time. I wish I had gotten beneath a moonless sky, when I went to the premiere I only wanted to get this song to get an English recording of the changes. Anyways, Gardar Thor Cortes’s portrayal of Erik/phantom was astounding especially in that scene, he just nailed the intensity of emotion beyond any fan girl expectation/ guilty pleasure fantasy in my head. I ended up driving back to utica from buffalo on Sunday as well to see it again, hence the other songs, however I accidentally overheated my phone so didn’t get my intended goal, lol. Instead I have a half hour track of the show between the opening up to the moment of beneath a moonless sky, I didn’t realize when I went to record, I actually turned it off, and when I hit it again it was fried. I only discovered the other track days later. I still have to edit it and get the additional songs up here, it’s too long either for my iPad or RU-vid, I don’t know, I’m inept with this stuff, lol.

I was lucky enough to see it live twice in Detroit. I know for a fact that when I went to see it the second time (oct 29 at 7:30pm), it was both the boy and Christine singing the second set. It doesn't come across well in this recording, but I do think that was what was happening.

Ashley Daniul it was fantastic in my opinion, I really liked the German production's interpretation of this scene, and changes to beauty underneath so I was stoked it was retained for the us tour. I thought some of the costuming in the Melbourne production was sort of cheesy.... but that's just like my personal taste, I know everyone's different. I really liked the dancers in this one.... it was just the right bit of bizarre and I think appropriate to represent something of the Phantom's/ Erik's mind. Just wish I could figure out all the lyrics... I can to an extent but not so well.. Also as I type this I'm hearing the part where Gustave sings before beauty underneath and it's just so incredible. Not sure which boy ended up in that scene but they were both so talented. Also I like that part because it connected the themes and story of poto to this. But I overthink everything. lol.

This was the Australian production, but it carried over some changes from the German production. All of the sets and costuming are exactly the same as the Australian version. They told me at the theater when I saw it tonight that it was the Australian version.

When I entered the casting board where changes are listed had both boys up there so I was t sure if they split it up or what or if they hadn’t changed it to whomever would be performing, and ditto for Sunday when I was there. lily_phipps unfortunately not. When I went to the Friday show I only wanted to get this to see the changes in English. I actually drove back to utica on Sunday for that purpose because on Friday the performance of beneath a moonless sky was absolutely astounding, like, chills all over. Cortes just blew my mind. That’s how I got the other recording here, but anyways, after I got until I hear you sing I didn’t realize i hit record again and I overheated my phone. So it wouldn’t go on for moonless sky. I learned days after that I have a 27 minute recording of the show from after first song to THE MOMENTT BEFORE beneath a moonless sky, what luck right? I couldn’t upload it that whole length and haven’t had a chance to figure out editing into separate tracks, I’m really crappy at that kind of thing. I’ve been hoping to find someone else posting it. Also I had planned to go to a lauderdale show but something came up with my id so I can’t fly, I can’t renew it because I don’t have a copy of my bir5 certificate and can’t get that because my license needs to be renewed. Anyways I’m rambling but the point is I’ve been really trying to get it and when I do I’ll post it. I’m planning to go to the Pittsburgh show on January 2nd, I’m in buffalo ny so it’s a reasonable day trip.

Can you confirm for me that Moonless sky is different in this version than the recording in the official album? My first experience with this play was seeing it live this month and I feel like the original album recording of Moonless sky seems wrong. Was Moonless Sky also changed in the North American version?

I think this version makes the song completely lose its' rock appeal. It keeps changing mods so suddenly. And damn, Gardar, stop rushing through "This is my realm"... Well ... maybe when I see it live...
