“There comes a time when you must choose about the path you’re gonna take and you must take it win or lose and if you lose it’s your mistake” … that hit hard
This song is about a man like Nikola Tesla, men like Beethoven, Wright brothers, Isaac Newton, and many more ... who were so goal-oriented that found family life and marital ordeal a significant obstacle between them and their goals. This is a great piece of art indeed.
Not many songs tackling the idea that to follow ones dream often requires sacrifice, and the regret of what you have to sacrifice may just follow you further than your dream can take you.
You can tell that this Song is about a man with a broken heart Scared of Love , because he will never again suffer from Heartbreak An almost unbearable pain , which seems not to end We all can relate to that and it´s the most horrible thing to go through That´s why this song is timeless and beautiful
@@talthan ... You're both wrong. In the context of Animalympics and just the lyrics themselves, it's about a man who's "run away" from things that he feels are distractions to the goals he sets for himself in life that he believes will make him happy. Achievement, glory, the gold medal, literally or metaphorically, but realizing that there are consequences with the choice to stay faithful to that cause. Rene had put in some much time and effort to become the very best, but he realizes too that even if he makes it to the top, it's a very lonely road and end goal, perhaps not exactly what he actually wanted in life but felt compelled to complete because he already sacrificed so much to get to that point too. Sunk cost fallacy. It's basically the inner conflict of sacrificing love for purpose, leaving you with a choice.
I remember watching animalympics as a little kid. Im german and of course at that time i couldnt speak english, but nevertheless i jnew exactly what this song was about and not just because of the images. It was the pain in his voice, his words.. Simply beautiful ❤
Beautiful lyrics and instrumentation by none other than the English songwriter Graham Gouldman. He is responsible for so many 60s music he wrote for The Hollies, The Yardbirds, and Herman's Hermits. A one time member of The Mockingbirds. During the 70s he formed the group 10cc with Eric Stewart, Keven Godley, and Lol Crème.
Yes Indeed Love Not For Me Was Good One By Him It's Lonely & Sad.

Graham Gouldman's best works. This 1 is part of the OST from "Anymalimpics" (a TV movie and child classic) by Steven Lisbenger, later know for your masterpiece "Tron " and Executive Producer of "Tron Legacy". In fact, at the beggining of "Animalympics" there's a man throwing discs in a sort of prelude... Thanks for this song
