I might be very wrong but this song sounds like a person fighting with their inner child in their mind. Their inner child is the part of them that’s hopeful and trust the world but it only hurts them over and over again “Destroy me again”, until it’s gone forever “Until there is no me in you.” And this person has lost hope for this world completely and their outer shell is so strong that no part of them can even open up.

The beauty is that the listener decides what they hear. There are times I think this is an introspective journey and “ego” fits. There are times when I think it’s “eagle” as part of a vision. This applies to various words within, not just this one, and is what keep me coming back to this masterpiece. So many emotions can be explored here. Great art.
