🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥 THANK YOU!!!!

Aaaaaaaaagh! This is what I needed! I just finished up a 4 session "jam" class and when they taught dribbles with the pivot, it was SO confusing! The instructor had us bringing our rear leg around in a "c" shape instead of pivoting into the open "gap" of the stagger like you are showing. This makes way more sense and I could actually do it! Thank you! These videos are so generous of you.

So glad it helped you. There are lots of ways to do the dribble turn but I love the flow of this one.

Crikey o'blimey, this is one I could have outright asked for. Tani Coy has a video about "basic" small space drills, and she does a similar turn-round move in the middle of a really easy slide. Despite zooming in to her skates and slowing it down, I can't for the life of me work out how she does what looks more like a J-turn. At least I can see what you're doing here. HOWEVER... I've been practicing the "pre-transition" move (in preparation for trying to get *one* transition done with less than 100 crashes) - stagger, up onto the toe-toe manual, twist round, down. I can manage 120° to 150° about 80% of the time... which will probably not cut the mustard and result in me falling in an ever-more-painful heap. But if I was to twist round a full 180° with both toe axles exactly where they started, my legs are going to be crossed. And you're doing a full 180° twist and you end with your legs *not* crossed. In short: how? (Am I going to have to advance this one frame by frame?)

If you watch the slow mo at 3:36 it shows how I do the in place 180 turn. You have to pivot on the two toe wheels in a staggered stance that way the legs won’t cross.

@@Skatie I can *just about* work out what's going on here in that you're making a very slight U-shape with each toe axle, whereas I've been trying to keep each one absolutely rooted to the spot - I'd assumed that if I did it rolling (resulting, eventually, in a successful transition some time in the next 10-15 years) my feet would just naturally uncross... somehow. By the time I find out for real I'll be more battered and bruised than a novice boxer who's just done twelve rounds with Mike Tyson in his prime. Meanwhile, from 1:55 - are you keeping all four wheels on the floor there? And if so, how? I watched this video just before setting off for a two-hour session earlier today, and tried estimating how tight an inside edge I can make (among all the kids flailing around with zimmer frames and experts sidesurfing all around me) and about as hard I as I can get round on a one-foot inside edge is a turning circle of about four feet. (I'll measure it properly, eventually.) I've wound out my trucks as far as possible without being able to move them with my fingers, and I'm on whatever the standard cushions are for Sure-Grip Rock plates - which is likely the hardest ones because, seeing as I'm north of 90 kg, that's what I need. You're doing much the same turn in, what, a foot or less? I know you like your trucks *very* loose, but do you also have cushions with the consistency of Wine Gums? That's the only explanation I can think of.

Ok, I think you’re after the turn in this video around 6:30 ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-gx0pba1Q7js.htmlsi=9L2f_KHV9RQctMGa

So when I do the really tight inside I do have to slide the back wheels around but the weight is where it would be for an inside edge but to get it that tight the other wheels have to skid round or be lifted slightly if you’re in softer wheels.

@@Skatie So... lift the *outside* wheels, like a sideways-manual, then? The Bowl Bombers (101A) I've just tested earlier today might do that, but I doubt the Twisters (92A) will, and they're wide. (Whether or not *I* can is a different matter.) How hard are your green wheels? I don't think they featured in the "I test wheels so you don't have to" video, did they?

For some reason, this one gives me so much trouble. I can do it for a bit but I always lose it. Is your back foot pivoting on the toe as well? It kind of looks like it's moving on an outside edge as it turns.
@Skatie
@Skatie 3 месяца назад
Yup. Weight towards the toes to make the feet lighter for the turn.

Can this been done with toe stops?
@Skatie
@Skatie Месяц назад
It can but you may find they catch if you tip your toe too low. Just be careful you don't catch a stoetop and knock yourself over.

Hey Skates! How long have you been skating? And how often did you practice? I actually had a day yesterday where I was looking forward to not skating. The night before, I went to an adult night skating event and couldn't wait for it to be done. I had been practicing everyday, for almost a week straight. I was burnt out and had no motivation or energy at adult night.

Hi. You know sometimes I think it’s possible to over do it. When I was an artistic skater sometimes I’d be better after a break. These days I tend to skate twice a week every week but then in the summer (or at least when it’s not raining) I may skate 4 or 5 times a week as I also skate outside too. My Dad taught me to skate when I was tiny 👶 😂

@@Skatie Awwww! That is do awesome. Please hear me, I cherish you. I love your style. You are probably one of my idols. If I ever do big things with this someday, I will absolutely let people know who idolize and where I learned a lot of what I know. I'm just going to tell them "Go on RU-vid and type in Skatie." And then I will tell them that you are my absolute favorite. Your style and your knowledge is really something I haven't seen before. I have not been back on skates since Tuesday evening. I will go to adult night tonight and skate. I hope I do well. Someday's I am on the money, other days, it is like I am starting all over again.
