I think this song is a sarcasm song for Christians. But as a Christian, I totally agree with the message this song is trying to deliver... What’s in this song is indeed what the Bible says and teaches me since I was a kid. It’s disappointing that many Christians are so judgemental, especially to point out someone else’s flaws. While in fact, the Bible does really say “love trumps them all”.
@Fireeater-rl4ep
@Fireeater-rl4ep 3 года назад
I do not seek to harass, only to gently instruct. Love your neighbor as yourself is NOT the greatest commandment. Jesus said the greatest commandment was: "Love the Lord your God with all heart and with all your soul and with all your mind and with all your strength." (Mk 12:30). The command our Lord was referring to is in the Law, as stated in Dt. 6:5. The SECOND greatest commandment is love your neighbor, but it should never be used in a bottle, to justify immorality or to love those who hate God. (See: 2 Chronicles 19:2) I understand why some Christians accept homosexuality. There is a big push for it from Hollywood, Washington D.C, and other elites, as well as the idea that "love is love". However, we also look at the past and hidden present of these groups and see how immoral they are, and how much they hate God. Greed, lust, adultery, lies, covetousness, oppression of the poor, arrogance, blasphemy and more all pervade the Elite groups, those same groups that advocate homosexuality. BUT THE MOST IMPORTANT THING is that we cannot define what is right and wrong by relying on our own feelings and opinions. We MUST look to the word of God to discover the truth. And what does the Bible say of homosexuality? Look for yourself in: Leviticus 18: 22 Leviticus 20: 13 Romans 1: 26-27 1 Corinthians 6: 9-10 I was going to simply post the verses, but as Paul said in Romans 14:5: "Each one should be convinced in his own mind." Another problem with many homosexuals is that they are proud of it. They flaunt it, as if to say: "God, this is who I am, so you MUST accept me for it." Shall Man force God to comply with his ways? Never! Man must conform to God's ways, for His ways are perfect. "But [the blessed man's] delight is in the law of the Lord, and on his law he meditates day and night." Psalms 1:2

How far back in history are you looking to? Also I am not excusing what they've done but many of these individuals were pushed into blasphemy and adulatory simply because being gay would get themselves and their loved ones killed. Tell me how someone can love God when his believers constantly threaten their lives and reject them from society for something they cannot control? Again, not saying that this is right but I can understand why so many turn away, no one likes being where they are not wanted. I like to think about them as being members of their own religion, so long as they respect me and my opinions I will respect them. I may not agree with Buddhism but I have the greatest respect for them as a whole.
@jeffisjeff5511
@jeffisjeff5511 2 года назад
@@Fireeater-rl4ep That doesn’t logically make sense though? Usually sins are things that hurt yourself or other people. Plus the Bible has been changed quite a lot, and you can’t believe everything in the Bible, because people change it. The Bible isn’t exactly holy anymore. I mean they made Jesus white with blue eyes and blonde hair even though he looked nothing like that. God is part of the LGBTQ+ too to be honest. God loves everyone, but has no sexual desire or romantic desire. God is both a mother, and a father. God could be any gender and change it. God wants happiness for us, but doesn’t want the kind of happiness that’s bad for us and or for others. God is light, and watching you. Wants you to make your own choices. God made this land for us, and it use to be Beautiful, but now it’s ruined. It’s ruined because of people, you’re supposed to love everyone. Hate the sin not the sinner. Although being gay isn’t a sin. Actually it’s the best thing ever! No overpopulation, kids would most likely get adopted, and etc. Honestly In my opinion I think God wanted people with different sexualities and stuff to exist. Of course God made people gay or straight or even darker. Although we do make our own choices to be a good person, and that’s really all you need. Just be a good person. That honestly makes the most sense to me.

Being a Christian that’s heavily into theatre and would like to pursue it in the future, this is such a beautiful song to hear. A lot of the time, it feels like it’s Christians vs the LGBTQ community, and the Broadway community in general, but I feel like this is a living testament against that. With shows such as The Book of Mormon (which I realize wasn’t even directed by respected members of the community but gained a ton of traction nonetheless) Broadway can, at times, feel very anti-Christianity, and with stigmas within Christian culture against homosexuality, I don’t completely blame them for it. If we could all just learn to accept each other, and follow the golden rule, the future of Christianity in Broadway and popular media as a whole would look a whole lot brighter. Also side note, Andrew Rannels is such an actual god I love him❤️

@@clayflix9569 correct! The location manager/coordinator did their job perfectly. I watched a interview saying they changed nothing in their location shoots..they shoot around what already existed in the building; including people just actually going to the mall and shopping. Lol
@clayflix9569
@clayflix9569 3 года назад
Huh. That must’ve been interesting to watch as a bystander in the mall. Also, they probably didn’t change much on their location shoots because of how massively expensive the Broadway/New York set probably was. I was flabbergasted when I found out that was on an LA backlot.
@jovanolague3161
@jovanolague3161 3 года назад
@@clayflix9569 agree! At first (because of the detail), I thought it was a section of Broadway and they filmed it late at night and most stuff was CGI in. But nope, it was an entire replica of a street. Crazy! Ryan Murphy in an interviews said they tried to film on location in NYC but couldn’t get the permits in time as they would have had to reserve many parts of the street.Also , Andrew Rannells mentioned that they obviously notified all of the mall staff and vendors that this scene will be filmed, and he said it was funny to film it and in between takes just watch people shop like nothings happening. Andrew also mentioned that it was funny to see someone cross through the shoot and all she wanted to do was get to JCPenny. Lol

@@laichanderson5937 how is it ridiculous? I'm not saying christians don't know anything about the bible, but there are lots of them who have never read it or only know parts of it because of word of mouth or sermons on their church. Most christians I know that have actually read the bible are older people. And the reason I say usually atheists are the ones that know more about christianity than christians is because a)it could be because they're studying it, and not reading it with the purpose of actually participating in the religion or b)the reason they became an atheist is BECAUSE they read the bible(which would be my case).

when I was growing up during the 1970s/1980s there was the big divide between people who acted and the people who performed in musicals. One could say that musical theater performer were ACTING, as opposed to being within the context of you social, physical, and emotional framework of what the author had written. One thing they rarely teach in musical theater is how to really listen. It is an art onto itself. many times because you memorize lyrics, you also prepare reactions that are either unnatural or exaggerated because there a performer is not in tune mind, body, and soul (so to speak). I love this piece and think Andrew Rannells was brilliant in this. The kids who have wonderful singing and dancing capabilities were limited in their acting/reactions in the beginning of the number (before the dancing took off), the young blond boy kept pointing his finger as if he pretended he wanted to say something but was interrupted (this happen with him a few times). The director should have taken the time to help them engage more in what they were listening to for the first time (not over and over again rehearsing). I think over all this is an amazing piece, and have watched and enjoyed it numerous times. It also gives me hope that wonderful things can be achieved in musical theater and movie musical today when we put our minds to it, but as the old saying/song goes "Little things mean alot." These tiny details add layers to a piece.
