I can image that it's a fairly easy thing to accomplish if you had good role models & grew up on a loving family that valued their children. It unfortunate that many people did not have that.
His wife is beautiful. He's currently dealing with cancer. I'm hoping he's dong well with treatment and getting stronger every day. We, his fans, have not heard anything about how he's doing since Christmas 2020. Missing you and thinking of you Jeff. Much love to you and your family.
Yeah, he posted like 3 weeks ago saying he was in remission and contracting COVID was way worse than the cancer. Tough break, man, getting goddamn COVID while having cancer. Apparently he spent many months unable to do menial things without oxygen assistance and ended up in the ICU due to the COVID but he is now feeling great and yes, there is video of him dancing in his daughters wedding sans oxygen. His new tv show The Old Man starts in 2022.
One of the best explanations of marriage I’ve heard. The sad part is to many people once they walk through that door only look back at the door behind them. They never even see the potential behind all the new doors.
I met Jeff at the Egyptian Theater in Hollywood as my "job" was to go to the limo, greet the celebrities and bring them into the theater. He was so down to earth, gracious and just a nice guy. Plus he is ever so talented. I also had the good fortune of meeting him and his family, including his Mom, at another venue up in the valley. May God bless Jeff and the Bridges.
I was an extra in his firefighter movie Only The Brave. Got to watch him perform Ghostriders in The Sky multiple times (same bar as Crazy Heart). Pretty neat.
@@PhantomFilmAustralia Yeah that performance of Jeff's is so overlooked as was the movie - one ridiculous line in the movie was "Humans are there best when things are worse" when the crazy FBI and so many were try to hurt Jeff except for Jenny Hayden played so endearingly by Karen Allen. Also He was great in The Jagged Edge. I tend not to be a Jeff fan as he makes a lot of "Mirror has two faces movies" and I wish I could find "the Big Lebo.." to be funny.

Jeff seems like the sweetest, most down to earth man ever. The fact that he's been married for 40 years being a handsome A-list actor with women swooning over him proves he's a loyal dependable person. That's why we hardly ever see long-lasting marriages in Hollywood, because these celebrities know they can have anyone and would rather live in hotels than have some solid footing.
But Jeff is a celebrity, and many more. Many more have 'successful' or 'lasting' marriages (nothing is a given, everything needs to be cultivated on a daily basis), there is plenty of actors who are living fulfilling lives, great marriages and so on. It is a false 'image' to consider 'we hardly ever see long-lasting marriages in...', most often an amalgam of every magazine cover and gossips and paparazzi around us, inside our head. There was plenty of 'bad' kids in my neighbour, some have grown out of it, some didn't, actors or not, business man or not, Hollywood or not. It's easy to generalize but hard to consider every single cases in all their times and moments... because it simply easily gets out of our scope And this is how life is bigger than us
@@marcalvarez4890 perhaps somehow.. I would like to adhere to that idea but knowing how it turned out for Chris... :P ofc, it's humour.., well part of it ;) just as a side note, my dad had options, so he fkd the babysitter, while he had me and my bro, so eventually, the mother said fk off and she was left him with the babysitter, and two more kids now with her, and eventually, I was living with his mother, my grandmother, in an apartment just next to his, in the same building, never saw him much, too busy earning a shitty pay with a shitty job for his now second family in the making, so I and my bro, each grew up without our dad, him with his mother, me with my grandma, I don't mind, I had my share of issues about it, but, I wouldn't want to be raised by anyone else but my grandmother anyways, im just saying, you know, options... ;) choose wisely =]
He's a very lucky and blessed man..I'm aware that his wife is going through a very serious health crisis but god bless that she pulls through. Great advice from Jeff.
His wife was interviewed yrs ago and the story she told went like this: “ I had been living with Jeff for a few yrs and I wanted him to ask me to marry him. So, I was telling this to his mother and she liked me and she said, ‘ you need to move out and make him realize what he has ‘ So, I did and then he quickly realized he wanted to get married and here we are years later”
Same thing with my husband. Broke it off and told him “I can see this isn’t going anywhere”. In a few days -- he called me to go with him to pick out my engagement ring -- 4 carats and 7 1/2 carat emerald cut Diamond wedding band. I guess that was a surprise. -- and a delightful one at that.
I once traveled on a flight (to Vancouver from LA, I think) with most if not all of the Bridges family on board, Jeff was there, so was Beau and Dad Lloyd. Lloyd was grinning from ear to ear chatting with boys the entire flight.
Jeff is such a lovely man as well as being unbelievably talented. Every time I hear his voice I think of 'The Dude', especially the "yeah man" at the end. I heard he is doing well and responding well to treatment which is the best news I've heard all year.
Yeah, I reckon we all walk through that door hoping for the same fortunate outcome as mister Bridges. Thanks for being an inspiration for us all and giving us the courage to take that step.
When ppl say stuff like this, most of the time I assume it's said to hide a bad marriage behind closed doors. When Jeff Bridges speaks of his wife and marriage, it's always positive and I believe every last word he says about her and it. Jeff's the real deal. Long time fan of his. I adore Jeff Bridges and pray he's in the best of health too. ♥️♥️♥️💪♥️♥️♥️
Jeff Bridges has portrayed characters in cinema that informed Americans. He has great depth and range as an actor , and seems to draw upon much experience and wisdom.
We have 40 years as well! And, believe it or not, that is precisely what I was thinking at the altar! In my mind, divorce has never been an option. Under certain circumstances, ie, adultery or abuse, I believe we should all be in it for the long haul or don’t do it. ❤️
My philosophy on marraige is that it is simply a long-term best friend you find. Someone to hype you up when you are down, and vice versa. Someone to cuddle with when you want to feel warm and comfy, and vice versa. Someone to believe in and support you when the rest of the world is creating fear and anxiety in you, and vice versa. Someone to take risks and go on adventures with to create moments of overcome challenges, and vice versa. It is literally the one person who is beside you holding your hand who will help you get up when you trip, pull you along when you are tired, and hold you back when you are going the wrong way. and vice versa
That's GREAT!!!! Don't hear many men saying things like that, that's for sure!!!! And Jeff, my husband and I will CELEBRATE 40 YEARS TOGETHER IN NOVEMBER!!!!
An intelligent man. His simple point of view said it all. So sad most couples give up at the sight of the first difficulty. Literally keys don’t open doors, difficulties do.
What an optimistic way of looking at it… “my marriage gets better every year” ….. I believe people write their own chapters in life…they can write a romance or write a tragedy.
@@MichaelGiordano777 I’m not that wise but it’s from personal experience and reflection, and people have said similar things before. I can’t stop thinking how that Brian Laundrie guy could have wrote a great love story instead of a tragedy. Oh yeah what I said is also related to teachings from Joel Osteen who I like. If you listen closely everyone is a poet , some write uplifting poems some the opposite.
I wouldn’t call him underrated, as everybody knows he’s one of the best ever as it seems there’s nothing he couldn’t do when in front of the camera. However, considering his tremendous career and talent, he doesn’t get nearly the press that other far-less quality actors get. I’ve seen plenty of actors not get the public acclaim they deserve, despite the ridiculous level of talent, and Jeff Bridges is one of them.
@@vinceventresca6763 Well, not entirely true. He got the same media attention during the 80's. Like, for real big time. Besides, dude's so established as an artist, he really doesn't need that much attention to stay in people's heads. Also, he does not want that.
Maybe underrated is the wrong word, but I feel that he has never reached the level of some big names in terms of media attention, but I get the feeling he has prioritised his family life, I just wanted to see more of him over the years
A brilliant actor, a family man, an intelligent and humble individual, and an all around exceptional human being. A rarity in this crazy, egotistical, and greedy world gone mad. Best of luck to him and his family, and with good vibrations coming his way on his ongoing battle with cancer.
Jeff is a total classy man. Comes from a great family, his dad was out of this world kool "Sea Hunt" and both Jeff and Bo are fabulous actors. I seen the film "Lolly Madonna" when it was released in 73, I believe it was 73-74. I had never seen "Jeff", "Randy Quad" or the great "Gary Busy" in an intense drama unfolding like a land mine going off, smothered with tragedy and disillusionment in a film before. Instantly, I became FAN of not only "Jeff", but several other actors in that film. I could go on.. "Conan" asks serious questions and still makes us lol as usual, which allows the dialog to flow. A great talk show host!
Marriage is not death... it is the spiritual union between a man and a woman working together, the man working towards sweet death and the wOman working to keep him alive until everything's paid off
@@dansmusic5749 Jeff was apparently in 4 Sea Hunt episodes. - Pirate Gold (1960) ... Kelly Bailey - Water Nymphs (1960) ... Boy (uncredited) - The Birthday Present (1958) ... Jimmy - The Lost Ones (1958) ... Davy Crane
Jeff Bridges descriptin of getting to the altar to get married is beautiful. Personally? I'm much happier single & celibate. I love to live a simple, uncomplicated life.
I love you Jeff..... I been loving you so long. lol I am a Korean fan of yours~~ I am in 40, and I still watching 👀 your original classic movie 🎬 against all odds!!! great movie and you look so gorgeous 😍 wonderful wonderful of your marriage~ and your heart. I love you and stay healthy forever.... I wish my husband also like you but I am his number 5 wife! and he said he want to get marry number 6! no kidding. by the way his American man retire colonel he is about 20 years older than me 😑 he looks like you but different personality. have great night!
Women are afraid of marriage, too. Mostly of feeling owned/controlled…being scared he’ll cheat.. Not so much about banging anything that moves….but a fear of disappearing into HIS life.
Regarding those "closed doors", Louis C.K. (yes, him) said his friends would say, regarding being married "I don't know if I could have sex with one woman for the rest of my life". Louis responded "You don't have to worry about that. Once you get married (and especially if you have kids), you're going to have NO sex for the rest of your life".
could it maybe, possibly be, that different people have different needs? gotta love a comment section full of people trying to seal away in a single, unthoughtful, one-liner, what works for them with the assumption that it works for everyone else.
