Love yourself tear was a defining album for bts. They released this album during the hardest time of their career. They made this album while they were considering quitting. And the messages in the album was for themselves. They way they write their songs... its like their personal stories become universal. Its real art. And outro tear is pure poetry and one of the most heartbreaking songs ever written about bts by bts. Initially folks didn't realise what the song was about, it was only years later bts talked about the meaning of the song. Some bts songs be like that, it makes sense years later and the messages suddenly become clearer as you age.
We always knew what the song was about lol, the narrative of the album is obvious just listening to Singularity, Fake Love, and Tear in order, but on its own Tear is already very clear in what it's about. The grief, anger and fear of the future (of loving again) that comes with the end of a relationship. What we didn't know was that it had been written with Bangtan's situation at the time as inspiration. That it was basically autobiographical.
When I read Singularity's lyrics I realized I would taking a break from Japanese music to really delve into BTS, knowing I wouldn't regret it. Namjoon has been my bias since then.
Outro tear is such a heartbreaking and special song, one of my favorites ever. And the fact that this was written for the members when they were thinking about disbanding just makes it even more special and heartbreaking.
@@rkiveloverit’s an ancient proverb that means to not dwell on evil thoughts. a lot of times, it’s used to signify people who are willfully ignorant. So in this case, it’s symbolizing how BTS is refusing to accept how toxic this relationship is and how they need to wear a mask to be accepted by this person they’re so infatuated with.
Dare I say Tear is a top 5 in bts’ discography… and it’s not number 5, 4, or 3😂LITERALLY the lyrics, rapping, vocals and amount of bangers on here is actually crazy. This represents such growth in their career
Yeah this album's musicality and production was on another level, it's equivalent to Wings to me as a turning point in their growth and musical development/expansion. Just a truly incredible album
i remember when the tracklist dropped and a lot of people thought that Steve Aoki will give us another high energy, edm banger, like mic drop. instead he gave us one of the most beautifully gut wrenching songs of all time, thank you bts and steave aoki for the truth untold
i think this video not having the extra effects SUITED this specific album. Stripped down. Emotional. TEAR. If there were extra stuff it would've made the reaction seem insincere or ruined the mood. So it's PERFECT that it's 'edit-less' as u described.
It was so satisfying to see you recognize hoseok's airplane verse! That's how we all reacted when the album first came out, but for newer people who don't go chronologically through their work or recognize the lyrics too well like you do, they wouldn't have caught that. I'm glad you loved the album. I think it's one of THE bts albums even though I love their whole discography. It's so special.
Same, it's just so good! "Us is just the plural of u" and the general concept of using the relationship of Pluto and the sun as a metaphore? Those lyrics on top of those vocals, that rap and that intrumental? The really outdid themselves with that one
I realize something new about BTS' discography on a monthly basis ever since i became a fan, no joke. This time i realized LY Tear not only talks about BTS' own struggles and the heartbreaking period of time they had in 2017-18 but also how they decided to add messages for Army who were also going through shit - and it fits the theme! That's the part i've been missing, how even when it's for the fans it still fits the album concept and many reviewers/critics missed that point. LY Tear is actually cohesive beginning to end. BTS has said many times how impactful it is when fans tell them about their struggles and because of Yoongi's constant positive messages on having dreams some fans have brought their own concerns about not even having a dream, thus BTS wrote Paradise
Snickers bar scene in the "Fake Love" music video: In BTS's fictional storyline AU, J-Hope was abandoned by his mother when he was young. J-Hope's mother took young J-Hope to an amusement park, put a Snickers bar in his hand, said she would be back soon, and then left, never to return. Therefore, the Snickers bar represents J-Hope's trauma for fake love. Jimin's water scene and Suga's fire scene were also used as symbols related to their traumas in the AU.
The trauma imagery is so raw and heartrending, especially that shot in the extended version of his hand disappearing into Snickers bars, his body swallowed whole. It's like his thoughts aren't even his own, he has no control over them, they have him possessed. A broken record that won't move on beyond a certain point because it no longer can. For him, there is only repeating.

This album is so special to me🥹 like imagine this was my first bts comeback and my standard to kpop songs was rocketing to the moon. Hardly find good song with deep lyrics like bts’. This is still a no skip album, one of their best *chefkiss Anddd shout out to my fav rapline song ‘Outro Tear’. Lucky me to have witnessed the live performance back in 2019. They’re absolutely amazing!! Aaahhh i miss them😭

BTS' Love Yourself series is so special because everyone can fundamentally understand the pain that they're talking about. Insecurity and fear of abandonment is something that everyone has experienced, because everyone wants to love and be loved so badly. Their message is so important, because no loving relationship can function without each person first loving themselves. If you don't face, know and love yourself, you cannot fully love others.
Outro tear was a shocker fr. before, armys thought this song is really about breaking up between two people. But it was revealed after a long time that it was actually about the group disbanding. After that, reading the lyrics with that perspective and thought that it was about BTS disbanding, it even hurts deeper. To RM, tear is like crying to suga, tear is the 'tearing apart' hence why he pronounced tear as "te-ar" to jhope, it's fear. the consequence of the lyrics really amazes me
1:34:45 outro tear is so devastatingly painful and beautiful at the same time. I remember sitting in my college dorm 2 years ago at like 1 am and reading a thread about the song and the meaning and what the members were going through and I just remember crying so hard that night. And i remember feeling that , no matter what happens in the future, whether they remain bts, whether they continue to make music or not, i hope they will always be friends. Their friendship means the most to me. Even if they live thousands of miles apart, I just hope they stay life long friends. I think they will.

All through school and college we're constantly running and we don't even know why. This song is healing for me. But on the other hand I also need to have some kind of goal, something to do in life. I remember how we used to say 134304, Paradise and Love Maze are the holy trinity. For me, ly tear album will always be one of the best album released by bts, every song is just a masterpiece.
I think the Smeraldo story's message is more to do with being your full self and not letting insecurity or social expectation hold you back from happiness.
I became an Army in this era so Love Yourself: Tear will always be my favorite album. Paradise and So what to this day make me cry when I read the lyrics even 6 years later.

Lv: tear is THAT ALBUM bro.. She really said NO SKIPS with emotional damage and self reflection! The demons that were unleashed after I listened to this album for the first time. I had to take a step back and stare at the wall after I was done listening to the album. Really appreciate anpaman in this album tho you really need a breather after all the shots that were fired at us from beginning to end in this album. Truly a MASTERPIECE this one was!

Tear is the BTS album that I think is flawless. It feels a bit weird saying that because I love every single BTS album. But Tear literally as a collection of BTS songs is immaculate. You still have more BTS albums that are gems so it’s not like they’ve peaked here or the quality drops off. Tear is just that little bit extra special
