Yes, they played it live on Heavy Metal Never Dies and yes, they crushed it. The entire concert is a masterpiece, possibly tied for the best concert video I've ever seen (with Roy Orbison Black and White NIght).

It's impossible to argue with an 8.7 out of 10, I mean that's high praise no matter what. I'd be really, really interested in a reaction to their song Dystopia Symphony, as it's the last new song from them (until their Best Of album comes out next month), and it seemed to be a real demonstration of "You think you've heard everything we can do? Check this out.". It's almost Dream Theater-esque, and features (in my opinion) best performances from each member and seemed to be a real statement of intent as to what they're capable of... and then Miho left. Oh well, they'll be back...

Nice to see you return to Lovebites. This song is just absolutely crazy. See it being performed live on their Heavy Metal Never Dies blu-ray. I highly recommend getting it. Also I wish you would react to Unlucky Morpheus again. You did Black Pentagram and that's it from what I can tell. Do Unending Sorceress next. Also check out Vintersea for a rather recent American metal band I really enjoy.

Its very nice that our bro Dave had not forgotten The Wolfpack. They did this song live and its really good too. Intro and outro from piano Miyako took from Beethoven 5th symphony which fits perfect thematically to vampires, genius Miyako. Now we wait for your Set The World on Fire reaction. Nice reaction mate thanks . About the song yeah they play live in their last concert Ride for vengeance from March this year. Also they released the concert on 29.09.21 on bluray and DVD. By the way Lovebites ask the fans to choose from all their songs which are their favourite to help the band to make best of the best album 2017- 2021, which is coming out December. I think there is going to be 21 songs plus 1 new song. I think that song is maybe the last song making with Miho.

In the last live Blu-ray /DVD the play this live. Buy it! It is amazing. .....and Asami got married and Miyako as well and giving birth so the pause will take some time! Wolfpack is having grandchildren.. Yeah!

This will definitely make the lovebites fans happy. I know they were bumming out there were no reactions for the band scheduled in January.

Nice review - as usual your comments were fair and well thought out and explained. The song itself is actually the theme song from an anime called VLADLOVE which is what that was all about. The anime clips in the video were from VLADLOVE (or at least that is the assumption). It's a relatively new song from early this year, but they did play it live on their last tour in the spring. They released a DVD/BluRay of the final show of the tour right around the time Miho announced she was leaving the band (so presumably it was her last show though not billed as such or even necessarily known by the band at the time). For what its worth it doesn't sound like Miho had a falling out with the band so much as it sounds like the pandemic has her rethinking her career path - she isn't just leaving Lovebites but music entirely, possibly to follow in her father's footsteps (he was a paramedic before passing away suddenly in late 2018 or early 2019) - she revealed all this in early August saying it was the anniversary of his death and she has been wondering for awhile how many lives he might have saved during the pandemic if he was still alive; she announced her decision to leave the band and music less than a week later. She's said though that she wants the band to carry on without her and they have said they intend to do that eventually but will be taking a hiatus first (for what it is worth, although I don't think there's been any sort of announcement out of Lovebites regarding it, which isn't at all unusual in Japan, but Miyako also looks like she might be pregnant in that concert footage, so if true she would have needed some time off as well, which would also factor into the hiatus. The drummer from Gacharic Spin, yet another all female Japanese band I don't think you've seen yet, was definitely pregnant around the same time and is only just returning to performing in the last couple weeks). So there's every reason to believe this isn't the end of Lovebites, although Miho will be extremely difficult to replace.

Hi David, great to see you back with some more Lovebites!! They have only played this song Live once (earlier this year). The EP with this song was released midway through the whole world shutting down thing. The video of this Live is up on YT if you wanna see the girls crushing it!! This song was made specifically for the anime, that's why the whole Vampire theme of the song. Miho will be VERY missed, and i am looking forward for what she will do next! Great score!! Lovebites performed this live in Heavy Metal Never Dies bluray, from their Tokyo live 2021 and you know what? It sound exactly the same, except some barely noticeable panning effects and they didn't have the piano in the end. I was also curious how they can perform this live, but it was flawless.... again... They played this song live in latest show MAY2021, almost the same sound and music in this MV, but I love the live more....

The only real difference between the studio version and the live version is the loss of panning affects on Midori's bombs. I'm hoping they break their radio silence for a timeframe on return after In the Beginning drops. I worry about international tours with Miyako having a kid but at least they'll probably still do domestic tours so I'll be content with any future DVD/BD for now.

I requested this before I learned you are not keen on official music videos, however I did mention for a change as the music was written for the anime series, it is worth a look. This was used as the opening theme from an anime. Thus the video. I'm pretty sure it was commissioned for that purpose rather than something they already had. I'm not an anime watcher, so I only know a limited amount. Anime and rock bands in Japan do a huge amount of cross promotion. Many musicians will get their first significant exposure from anime projects. Frequently it is commissioned by the whoever is doing the anime. Just as frequently a band will create something with anime in mind and shop it. Sometimes a known song will be picked up by an anime or film to appeal to a fan base. Of course the more well known the anime/film producer, and likewise the popularity of the band, the bigger the payout.

Excellent as always. I love this as an Anime fan (the anime is so-so IMHO) and having your theme done by LB is instant credit!! Funny, they say no guitar solos in Anime themes as a rule, LMAO as LB with the M & M monster just tore that rule out of the book permanently!! They do this LIVE on the new Blu-ray (one of seven songs done LIVE for the 1st time) Heavy Metal Never Dies..highly recommend as the show is sensational despite a sterile arena (less than 50% capacity, assigned seats, social distance, no yelling, shouting or cheering, and clapping only) and the ladies brought the thunder despite having little energy from the crowd. LIVE you would like more as the Anime can be distracting, Hey not for a reaction (I'm sure the list is insane) but check out the Slashstreet Boys doing I'll Kill You That Way (BackStreet Boys parody). Tumultuous times for Love Bites. The founding bassist Miho has recently left. The guitarist Miyaki has just become a mother and the lead singer announced her engagement.

Funniest thing is this was written by Asami and their frequent collaborator Mao. Probably their thrashiest piece. Live Haruna's rolls really stand out. She is such a damn monster. Yep I get the high expectation mindset having heard all their stuff.

A very fair score indeed especially since like you said it’s a studio recording with the mixing and mastering and all I would recommend their songs Set the world on fire and don’t bite the dust both live songs from their official channel these songs are recent uploads from their Heavy Metal Never Dies concert you will probably notice the audience are very stoic since the concert was under heavy restrictions No singing or chanting only applause and social distancing with masks witch kinda makes the concert feel different from the usual crowd responses but it’s still a great show

good review. i was really hoping for a reaction and review for the live of this song. i have the heavy metal never dies blu ray and this song was a real highlight to me because seeing and hearing this song live was going to be the selling point on this song for me and they nailed it and miyako even played all the piano parts witch was awesome

I have to say. I've listened to them a lot. Love them. They have not written a bad song that I know of. I have my favorites like everybody else. But never a bad song by them. Good stuff. Can''t say that with any other band I know of. .

If I remember right, there is another gal who contributes some synthesizer and electric keyboard work. (Someone correct me if I am wrong on that. I think I have the right band.) I saw it mentioned a couple of places but didn't make a note of it.
