Welcome to the Heavy Spoilers show I'm your host Paul and after a ten week long journey we are now at the final episode of Season 10.
Throughout this video we're gonna be going over the entire entry and breaking down the over episode and things you might have missed.
There will be heavy spoilers here for both the show and book ending so if you don't want things ruined then turn off now. Please subscribe to the channel as we still have a lot of lovecraft stuff to talk about after this video and you definitely don't wanna miss it.
Thank you for clicking the video, now let's get into the breakdown.
Ok so episode 10 is titled Full Circle and it's probably the most straightforward name so far. Everything comes full circle but that doesn't mean it's pointless.
Get it because...circles don't have point...nevermind.
There is a circle spell used at one point which reunites all of the Freeman's around their worst ancestor Titus and throughout the entry, circles pop up at several key points.
This episode brings everything to a close and fufills the prophecy that was laid out with the book Lovecraft Country. Wish I'd just used that as a plot summary because they pretty much spoiled the whole thing. However there are a lot of things up in the air and showrunner Misha Green has stated that she has ideas for a second entry, but sadly nothing has been confirmed yet.
Now the book ends with the group going head to head with Lancaster and Caleb, who christina is based upon is of stripped of his powers. Atticus, Montrose, Horatio who is George's son and basically all the characters getting a happy ending with the core group heading off on a road trip across america in the hopes that things will change.
It's a more hopeful and upbeat way to close things with Montrose and Tic repairing their father and son relationship and forming a bond where they move in a new direction together as they build more pages in the travel.
However the season goes in a completely different direction but we do get some hints of this and actually open with a shot of the travel guide hinting at the way things ended in the source material. Now as we know the show is dealing heavily with the multiverse so one can view the book as an alternate dimension and this was even hinted at with the original protagonist being called Atticus Turner whereas here he's Atticus Freeman.
The group have returned from the observatory with Diana and Atticus starts the spell to free her from the curse which is when the book of names flies open and stops on the page of his birth mark. This causes Tic and Leti to faint and they wake up in the ancestoral plane which is a similar aesthetic to what we saw in Black Panther.
This is an important place for the Freeman's as it's well, the moment they became Free and it's also where the lineage of Titus Braithwaite would be carried on and thus it's a pivotal scene which would lead to the events we see play out in the show.
Now Atticus meets Hannah whereas Leti, who is bearing his child meets Hatty from last...

Didn’t see anyone else say it so I will. The black family moving in wasn’t inspired by Leti buying the house. It was the beginning of “white flight”. Racism is more than just being mean, it has economic impacts as well. With Leti moving in into the neighborhood, the evaluation of houses in the area decreases because of the proximity to black people. So white folks start to move out, the house becomes more and more affordable and more black people move in. That’s why still to this day, the black side of a neighborhood is almost always separated from the white side by major roads or natural land marks. Learned this in college and see it in my home town

I personally think Christina gave Letty the mark of Cain again because as she mentioned in the episode she feared of killing Tic (the last of her bloodline) off for nothing. She knows she has to kill Tic for her spell but so she still can have some family (which she finally understands the value of from the car ride as Ruby) she saves the baby with the spell also saving Letty in the process.

The thing that separates Christina from the rest of the white people in this show is that she does not seem to exemplify racism against the protagonist merely because they’re black. Christina was not a racist, she was a woman hungry for emancipation, she has been denied and belittled by white men all her life. I think she actually have empathy, She sees Ruby as her equal, she never looked down at Ruby, because she knows how they both are familiar with being oppressed. Both wanting to have opportunities denied because of their identity. I never saw Christina as a villain, she saved Dee, resurrect Leti twice, saved both Leti and Tic from racist police. Christina was more of an ally than anything. Dee however is now fueled by pure rage, she barely even knew Christina, she didnt even hesitate to brutally killed Christina , Dee is a child and harbors so much hatred towards a whole race, i understand why shes mad, but Christina saved Dee an episode ago..Dee is gonna be evil

The mere fact she uses actual people as sacrifices makes her an amoral person and she use the advantages her race gives her throughout the entire show.. she was far from a good person. And just because you don’t believe in the delusional theories of racist does not mean you aren’t a racist because racism is a system and systematically Christina and any white peoples benefit from it. Honestly hated this ending Felt a bit too rushed/convoluted And the sound track/ music mixing felt like they were throwing together multiple themes and pieces. Liked the show and keep watching since the beginning for the interesting main plot. But I don't think the writers and directors cashed in on an amazing idea.

Wow! What an ending to a great show! I was really hoping Tic would survive, but I understand his sacrifice, yet I still don’t understand why they made it so easy to get caught when they had the goddamn book of spells at their disposal. They could’ve easily laid protections spells and such on all of them and gone in guns blazing, plus Letty falling for her sister turning that fast was unbelievable. The moment she should up with the vial I new something was wrong.

Christina has proven to us that she “loves” Ruby. I put the quotes because I don’t even know what love means to Christina but she does exhibit “it” nonetheless. She killed her out of emotional rage I presume. “How could you betray me?” That sort of thing. I mean the lady literally allowed herself to get fucked up so she could try to feel what Ruby felt when Till died.

When black people moved to the white neighborhoods back then, it inspired "white flight". They didn't want to live near black people, and they took their wealth out to the suburbs. They often kept ownership of the property and rented it out. They became slumlords because they rarely visited the property until it was time to collect rent. This lead to the suburbs looking nice, their school districts having better education and the inner cities go downhill. I used to live in a house next to and older black woman, she said the whites offered her money for her home so that the neighborhood stayed whites only, but she and others refused and her white neighbors left the area.

I guess Christina did love Ruby. Also I think, as many others, this series finale was kinda rushed, for me, for episodes 1-9 Christina was more of a grey area character, and now this sudden jump to being a big bad. I was thinking they would defeat Christina enough to make her abandon her plans and someone from another Lodge, or Titus, would appear and they all would be forced to fight this new evil together.

Thanks for the breakdowns Paul, excellent work - it's such a great way to make that episode last just a little bit longer. Thoroughly enjoyed the insights and discussion! It will definitely be interesting to see which era the next season will pick up and which events in particular. If we assume that it will be when George is a grown man, it should be at the end of the 60s, beginning of the 70s, so civil rights era... I'm sure there are quite a few events from that time that also got swept under the rug of history and are well worth bringing into light again.

I suspect that it was George who saved his mother, and that the child will grow up to be a powerful sorcerer. And I am hoping that Season 2 will include a flashback to how Dee got her arm: perhaps her own centuries with Seraphina, learning who she really is? That would explain why the happy, precocious kid seems to have suddenly become a cold-blooded murderer. And it would be really fun to see Tic's encounter with George in the future: it allows the character to return without cheapening his sacrifice.

I watched every episode because the production quality and acting were excellent. The Hippolyta episode was amazing and the Dee and Ruby episodes were creepy as hell, but overall I somehow just have a mediocre feeling about the show. It just seemed so rushed and some of the things they were spending so much time building up to just got discarded. For example, they spent so long talking about the missing pages only to find them and even saving the cursed woman guarding them in the process only to burn the pages and slash her throat. I understand the that during that time there was a lot of character development taking place but the journey they went on while developing the characters could have been literally anything if they were just going to destroy it and move on. Also, everything just seemed so loosely strung together including the entire Korean succubis story. It was another great episode, but it feels like it was duct-taped to the rest of the story.

Your breakdowns are on a high level of informed and better than 99% of the academic instructors. This information is NOT taught in the USA school and the vast majority of people are purposely kept ignorant of these horrors that is called US American History. The only book that find is helpful is Howard Zinn's book "A People's History of the United States" which is not used in the vast majority of schools. His book really highlights history from the People's Perspective. So thank you for being open and able to research so much history for your reviews. The Context is important and so many refused to even believe what is in this series actually happened. There is a major denial in the Country. So thank you for really offering a deeper meaning to your reviews.

1. Dee was talking about black people when she said "They still didn't learn" . Meaning they shouldn't have shown Christina mercy by leaving her alive, because some black people turn the other cheek to people don't deserve it. However... If she WAS referring to white people then she was most likely talking about the fact that white people have the audacity to kill steal and oppress then cry for help and forgiveness from us later. Either way it works out 2. I think Atticus is coming back somehow. And ruby is in a coma from the looks of the memories 3. Christiana was evil and if you looked at her ass anything other than such she fooled you just like Ruby. Even though she loved her. She loves power more.

With Jonathan Majors now being cast as Kang the Conquer in the Marvel MCU I don’t know if he’ll be in the show for long.
