Regarding what you spoke the first two minutes, that is the culture now. Drinking alcohol, smoking weed is common among people now, not because it is romanticized in movies but because now it's easily accessible among common people. So nariya filmmakers, to make it realistic with the current population are using this trope.

@@NeshaNeyan Spot on. Can't understand the whining here. Cannabis in control (anything in control/moderation for that matter) isn't anymore harmful for your overall health than caffiene. There's a reason why more scientifically minded countries are legalizing it. Plus this reviewer didn't seem to preach morals while reviewing movies like Animal where people are slaughtered like chicken.

@@JokeR-on6ep Sobriety is better than consuming anything including caffeine tbh. But cannabis isn't the same as alcohol. Physical dependence/physical addiction to the level of alcohol isn't associated with it. Neither has there ever been any case of cancer-related death caused by cannabis like with tobacco nor has there ever been any overdose death. Low grade Indian black market stuff should be avoided ideally because it's the equivalent of unregulated Kalla sarayam, but it's a fact that India still continues to have a rich cannabis culture up in the Himachal, that India was arm-twisted to ban in in 1985 (but bhang is legal lol), yet the same western forces today are legalizing it due to what the science says. Sugar is to be avoided too but you don't see people fearing diabetes and other illnesses, and stopping from adding it to their food. People pick their poison at the end of the day.

Aiyiyo..Jessie yen idhula sekuringa. She was clear from the start that idhu sariya poi mudiyadhunu. VTV is very sweet. It's like a fantasy first love. And either of them don't insult, put down each other. It was a beautiful, but unfortunate tale. There's nothing toxic about them.

If you really wish to make a movie please get into literature and watch international movies on a spree, make some list and watch it, for eg. Take a list of movies listed by S.Ramakrishnan. Watch every movie, write your analysis and you'll be in a better position to understand the film language in a couple of years. Be sincere don't get into this silly society related concern like usage of alcohol and cigarettes in movies, a true creator needn't care about this, he needs to concentrate and understand more about film language. Animal's case is different. It's about a few rich spoiled guys who are doing crimes like it's nothing (like wolf of Wall Street). Here it's a movie about a normal IT employee and his relationship. So, he seems pretty surprised to see that IT guys are really into that. He is not criticizing the movie. He is asking whether IT guys are really like that or not.

And no regular people drink and smoke. Far more than they care to admit. This is true for people from IT to ground pakkam marathadi la spot podra underprivileged class. Quality of the sarak is the only difference while they all want an escape from the brutality of regular life. There's no necessity to be guilty just because you consume stuff lol. The hero of the movie should because though he is a traumatized soul, he's a pos to others. He smokes and drinks. On the other hand the heroine's friend who also smokes and drinks has nothing to be guilty of except warning her friend to break away from her relationship.

Yes, people drink and smoke but ganja, joint, weed etc. are not that common before like it is today. Again, he is not concerned about movie portraying IT guys as drug users.
