i kinda prefer what Growling Sidewinder does for the pilot kills - instead of just cutoff he edits ins a "splat" sound any time his pilot gets his head blown off by cannons or a missile
I’d just like to say defyn is the best air rb focused content creator and I don’t feel like he’s appreciated enough. Feels like he’s been 30k subs forever, let’s push to get this man 50k everyone. Also happy holidays :)
Just try it in SB and you will see the instructor in RB cannot even get close to fully controlling this masterpiece of flight model. All spits are simply awesome and also a top skill mark if you can handle them in SB and get positive k/d.
Im glad you made this video because sometimes i struggle fighting against this thing, any tips on how to fight this thing and the spitfire F Mk-XIV in the G.56? Also, once you can, can you make a video on the c202d from the winter event? Because i saw jengar made a video saying its one of the best planes of his br.
So I've noticed one thing. You say the word *boring* quite often, and to be honest - this word describes all the prop realistic battles in general. It's just all about who climbes better and who's more patient. Been playing props a lot, left cos of the complete boredom. I want them to rework prop RB completely. What I've noticed the best prop gameplay is when you play ground RB - bombers are bombing, fighters are intercepting, not a single moron would climb to the space and fly there for 30 minutes. What do you guys think?
fighter pilots complain already that ground striker and bombers can have an impact on the ticket bleed. They don't seem to be interested in objective control. good luck with that.
Almost all of these guys, after attacking you, PULLED UP JUST IN FRONT OF YOU. Why the hell didnt they try to get some separation before pulling up? Jesus. Anyway, nice video man, always a pleasue watching you fly
Enemies in this game can be really disappointing. I used to think that after all these years I've become a better player, the reality seems to be that the average Warthunder player is just worse than they were when I started out.
DEFYN is so damn good. It’s amazing how he can keep up and remember the tactics and quirks for each aircraft going back to props. I can only fly 2 planes at a time and be good.
At 8:00 when you kill that 190, what do you think he could have done to prolong the fight, and possibly get a shot on you? Just asking because this is a common scenario for me on both sides. Merry Christmas!
I'm not that good, but that looked to be a fairly textbook example of an overcommitment. He saw Defyn coming below him and dove after, he died once he dove. That's a hard fight to win in an A5/U12, it's a full 1.0 BR lower than the Spit LF MkIX, and in a 1v1 the spit, even on the same BR, has the advantage. Maybe if he went up once Defyn turned below and spiral-climbed (the spit would lose some energy there), but there is a very big chance to just get prop-hanged there, with the Spit's stall performance and power-to-weight. Sometimes the best move is not to fight. Even with the energy advantage, it would take a mistake from the spitfire pilot for the FW to win that.
The 190 should have been more patient. He had the energy advantage coming in and even after he rushed in he blew it all by pulling a split s and then a bunch of turns immediately afterwards. With hindsight, the best thing to do would be to pull out at about 7:38, go up or fly straight and repeat. Spitfires will often do what DEFYN did, trying to reverse someone diving on them, so you let them pull their manuevers but just fly straight or up and reset. You can very quickly get them to an energy state where you can very easily gun them out of the sky. Best way to dogfight a Spitfire in a 190 is to not dogfight them to begin with. If you do get into one you can abuse the 190's roll rate in a rolling scissors vs the spit which has a slower roll rate.
Ok from my personal experience I can say that it can climb toooo good but if I'm above it with ta 152h1 it has no chance of winning a fight I guarantee that ta 152 h1 players (not many of them anymore) will agree. For players who don't have ta 152h1 go grind it once u master the guns which are not much of a problem u become the apex predator of 6.0
10:00 something about the Zero's stall speed being near the 220 mark. The zero is ridiculous in the stall speed department. In the earlier Zeroes, it's about 110 km/h, whereas the A6M5 is around 130 km/h Not that the stall speed would actually serve much of a purpose in most dogfights anyway xd
It's not that it's near the 220 mark it's that hes going 220 and still needs to pitch up which means I got enough position to stall him out. Maybe I just worded it poorly.
@@DEFYN Oh yeah, them being in an energy disadvantage came through loud and clear. Kind of like the explosion of their plane and the flames coming out of it.
"Not that the stall speed would actually serve much of a purpose in most dogfights anyway xd " It's one of the ways to judge a planes maneuverability and is probably better than wingloading as it takes wing effectiveness into account.
@@martijn9568 Well, yes, that is true. But I was referring to the fact that not much stalling is used in dogfights in War Thunder. It usually comes down to other characteristics before it gets to a stall-fighting point. I'd argue a stall manoeuvre is used as a last resort, when your own plane is inferior to the opponent's. Zero has great flight characteristics, it's a pleasure to fly in War Thunder, if a tad slow.
omg you're simply the best x3 im not certain but in this episode it seems like you had a lot of fun! Low Saxon: büst driest den besten, bün mij ni seeker man in düsse episood halst du veel spoos hatt, dücht mij ^^
Do you think this spitfire is better than the British tech tree Spitfires. I know it has good low deck engine but with a spit you most of the time climb and don't use that ability except if you dive on the first guy or in late game.
@DEFYN what are your thoughts on French tech tree behind left behind for months now when ussr gets a toptier every update ? France clearly needs Mirage F1 right now, and even Mirage 2000 would be nice to add :) stuck with 3 AAM while every other single nations gets 4/6/8 in every cases
@@H-cranky mirage V has its characteristics nerfed. They never lose a gun with load out, except for the Recon version which is not the one in game… Moreover, getting only 3 AAM while every other nations gets 8 easily is so BAD. Mirage are now just farmed by Doppler jets, meaning all toptier now Gaijin just intentionnally leave France performances behind the sacro-saint trinity (USA, USSR, Germany) and that is just very very making me upset … atm Mirage F1 is more than NEEDED… why does ussr gets a fukin toptier jet every update as they don’t need such ? Why even Israel gets ema better tech tree in a single update than France since it’s addition ? Leclerc S21 is just ima copy paste of S2 with commander thermals. And still no OFL F2 added… in terms of pure development, they added Mirage V and S21 only to add something for them, nothing more. Ussr gets a fokin OP véhicule every update it every event (pt76/57 to say least) and others got nothing at all…. Look Italy toptier jet… Leaving France behind is absolute bullshit from those « devs » and that’s why I am not playing the game anymore. Every other nations got lots of back ups with better armament, tons of prototypes, better ammo, better everything…
Im starting grinding second nation but after playing jets so much props are boring, climbing for like 7 minutes every game just to see enemy just makes me tired
You are supposed to beat the spitfire in a vertical with energy. However the yak doesn't have a large advantage in speed energy enough to make it happen against a spitfire lf9 IMO. Lf9 is better
I have the A6M6c and it's fun imo, it's rank 3 and has a 860sl rep cost, it turns really well and the guns are good, it's just that the engine is shit... It doesn't climb well, it won't reach it's top speed unless in a dive and it takes time to get up to speed
The A6M6 was an attempt to add a water-methanol injection system to the Zero, in a similar fashion to the Luftwaffe's MW50 injection system. The idea behind this is to reduce the temperature of the combustion chamber, reducing the frequency of engine knock during the compression stroke (this was a bigger problem for the Axis Powers as by 1944, many of their oil refineries had been destroyed by the Allies, and so they were forced to use poor-quality, low-octane petrol that was cheaper and took less time to refine). This would allow an engine to run at higher boost pressures or compression ratios without damaging the engine. Of course, the water-methanol mixture must be stored in a tank within the aircraft, increasing its mass. Early tests in 1944 didn't show a marked performance increase, and the system was unreliable. Testing continued until the end of the war. The reason Gaijin felt emboldened to add this plane was because it is a reward for a battle pass. Most battle pass players are Ground RB players who don't really care about an aircraft's flight performance so long as it's suitable for ground-attack duties. If they really wanted to add a somewhat competitive Zero to Rank 3 and up, they could've added the A6M8, which was effectively an attempt to fit the Zero with the much more powerful Mitsubishi Kinsei engine. The problem is that performance data for the A6M8 are not well-known and much of the documents about it were destroyed by Mitsubishi before the Americans could get their hands on them. The two prototypes of the A6M8 were captured by the Americans and if I remember correctly were scrapped themselves.
Hey Defyn, as I got myself a new mouse this week I would be interested in knowing what your sensitivity settings in War Thunder are and what DPI's your mouse runs at. P.S.: love your videos, keep up the good work
Wouldn't be too bothered about mouse settings in a game like War Thunder, where your biggest limitations are in game knowledge and positioning: Things you don't need high-level mouse input to succeed in.
Speaking from experience, high DPI probably isn't going to help you (slight movements will kill your aim) , if your mouse has adjustable DPI, it's probably best to keep it below 1000.
This LF versions of the Spitfire are so unreal and unbalanced , LF stands for low altitude fighter . Why the fck this plane should have 28m/s climb rate , if it's for low altitude . Also it had a 1580hp Merlin 66 , can't climb faster than a 2000hp Bf109 K4 . And 15 sec turn rate ? How ? It's not lighter than the other Spitfires , it can't turn better . It had some different wing tips , but that don't give you 5 sec better turn rate . This whole air battles are pretty unbalanced , even planes act different in gaining energy or saving it . Some planes seem to have no gravity at all , they dive down and climb up at the same altitude . Ta152 can do this , or make a 180° turn and lose no speed . WT has no good air physics , IL2 is way better in this point .
horsepower isn't everything man. both wing design and plane mass also make a difference there. again, for turn rate it's wing design and also potentially engine tuning. 28m/s is especially useful at low altitude because it lets you pull off much tighter maneuvers against other targets. different planes also have different levels of energy retention, again decided by plane design and mass, which is why some planes seem to have different "gravity" as you put it. more efficient wing/flap design will allow much better energy retention in a turn.
@@alphaplayzz1381 Dude a Spitfire and a Bf109 are pretty identical , so why the LF should climb faster with less hp ? This is unrealistic , as many things in WT . The Spit got bigger wings , turns better but not in 15 sec as a Biplane . Come on man , were is the balance ? 😅 You can't turn or make 180's without losing energy , or climb up at that altitude were you dive down . You can't build a plane that can do this , no matter what wings you have . Just look at IL2 gameplay , that's a whole different story . WT feels more arcade at this point , it's still fun if you know every plane . But I often got suprised of how some planes turn or climb up , even big heavy strike aircrafts with 2 engines turn in 20 sec (premium) . 😅 There is not much balance in air RB .
Like controlling your aircraft while in Free look (Holding down C)? I know it's 2 years late but here's your answer: You can bind your pitch, roll and yaw to your keyboard in the settings which will allow you to control your aircraft while staying in free look. Highly suggest binding your W/S to Pitch, A/D to Roll, Q/E to Yaw and incase you're using W/S for Throttle control change it to Shift/Ctrl
Seeing the spit instantly go from -5g to 9g in a few seconds kinda grinds my gears. There is no way in hell any pilot could handle that. That's what bothers me about spitfires so much, these vast g tolerances, especially negative G's is so incredibly unrealistic. Spits are so much easier to handle in something like il2 because of that very reason particularly at high speeds. Never had that much respect for spit mains in WT but I do make it a point to kill them early
@@lilac_witch oh I get that totally, it's just the spit exploits that better than most planes. If g-lock could be implemented better at least in the case of going from negative g's to positive g's that would help out considerably. It's the most physically exhausting moment a pilot can endure, even with modern g-suits.
@@kingwein89 it doesnt really negatively affect gameplay and the game has been like this forever so it would just be dumb changing it now, not every aspect of the game has to be hyper realistic sim experience
9:46 Why are Zero mains usually such annoying, snotty, entitled, hot-headed bastards? It's honestly baffling how so many of them throw a tantrum if you don't play to their strengths and hand them a free kill by flat turning with them. One even tried to tell me that I don't turnfight with them because I don't know how. Because rolling to the side and holding S is the defining skill any pilot requires.
Defyn do you by chance have your control settings viewable in a video (or screenshot) anywhere? I just got a new PC and mine reset and I was hoping to see what yours were set to so maybe I can retrain myself to play in a way that's more optimal. Great video the quick cuts cracked me up! lol
Hahaha blind hunt when there was only a minute 20 seconds left. Miss the longer timer much? Long drawn out matches hunting for the last guy on Norway who's hiding in some far off fjord)))
This spit is the most fun off all of them, I always load rockets n bombs, do ground and then climb up to help the team or when they dive for me its a good time and good fun
@@DEFYN nope, it has premium modifiers and gets 2 bombs (tech tree mk9 gets 1) and 16 rockets. It's easy xp in air rb. Also the repair cost is 1770 compared to almost 10k in a spaded mk9
You say that like I didn't need to grind before I got partnered. I had 100 million SL before i even started making videos. Is the plane much more useful to grind with? yes. Does that make it OP? lmao no, it only affects you not the enemy.
