I made it today the taste was amazing, I followed some of the comments recommendations; so my ingredients are ; - 2.5 full cups of dates+ 2 tea sp baking soda+ 2 cups of hot water. - 2 cups of flour+ 2 tea sp baking powder + a pinch of baking soda+ 1/3 tea sp cinnamon+ 1/3 turmeric. - 3 room temp eggs+ 1 cup of butter (gd quality)+ 2 tea sp vanilla extract. - 1 cup of wallnuts.
What a bunch of ungrateful comments! Thank you for posting this & thank you to those who noted the ingredient adjustments. Can;t wait to try this, thanks again.
I loved this whole video! The wholesome ingredients, the beautiful soothing music...with occasionally a baby sound in the background...and then you realize it is a man's hands, preparing this wonderful cake. I have not tried the cake yet, but I am saving this recipe, thank you...
I made this cake and it came out very nice only salty. I think it's because it has so much baking soda plus 1/2 tsp salt. So for sure the latter should be omitted (1/2 tsp of salt). But it's an easy cake to make.
I needed to find a diabetic cake recipe to bake today. This one looks good. This is the first one I have found that says (No Sugar Added) but then the sugar is added in the form of another carbohydrate. Looking forward to trying this recipe. Thank you for sharing
***This recipe is so nice except for the all purpose flour (it's very unhealthy and affects glucose levels tremendously). I lovely suggest that If u want healthy flours that doesn't affect your glucose levels you may substitute and use buckwheat flour for the entire recipes for cakes, or half buckwheat, half coconut flour or half buckwheat and half almond flour. Blessings! ♥
For diabetes type1, you can use olive oil, half the amount of oil here, add half amount ofwarm milk, avoid baking soda second time, avoid salt too. Low sodium is good for you.
Most delicious cake ever thanks so much added some sugar free chocolate on top and oh my goodness...will be making this often and using that date puree trick for many recipes💕💕💕
I know this recipe is 11 years old, but my guess is that You could cut down baking soda and powder (almost a glass or artificial raising additives) by simply beating egg whites separatelly to fluf them up - i hate soda taste in my bakes. More than 2 tea spoons and it ruins my cake ;(
please buy a spatula so there won't be waste of good ingredients. That cake looked so so so delicious! I only wish you would have tasted it and told me how it tasted and why you liked it! I think this would be heavenly with cold homemade whipped cream on top!!mmmm I give you a thumbs UP. There's nothing quite as nice as a man in the kitchen. Be well and thank you for so kindly sharing. bye now
I love this recipe using dates instead sugar...however, I would use almond flour instead, to a healthier way and no vegetable oil, maybe Ghee butter, but I dont know how much almond flour and ghee to use. Can you tell me the recipe with this version, please. Thanks Marcia- Ontario, Canada
This recipe has a high concentration of sodium ions( Common ion effect). The latter are responsible for the salty taste and due to their small ionic radii become hydrated, thereby affect the blood pressure.
I tried your recipe but the cake did not rise in the oven and seemed moist beneath the crust. My guess is that the pureed dates had too much water. Could you advise me on this please ?
Hello Bro....i m a great fan of u r cooking....i have subscribed to u r channel .....but m not able to c u r videos in my subscription tab :( for checking u r videos i have to search from u r recipes which i incidentally clicked .plz help so that i can check u r videos any time whn i want...and u r new uploads also....Thanks for the great cooking...
You can substitute this with wheat flour too. Or partly semolina n fine wheat flour combi. Then alter the way you use dates. Like boil it in in some milk n puree, or microwave it n soften it. Amount of sodium can be reduced by not adding baking soda initially
