I too am 74 and I worked till 3.and1/2 years ago and only stopped to become a full time carer for my husband - I am paying down business debt he incurred. I have a very low income but I am able to manage but discovering this channel has changed my mindset of how I move forward with my payment structure. I might I add the less urgent business debts are presently covered by a short term rental opportunity. Other more pressing business debts I rolled into my home loan hence the mortgage.

Pay it on the ENDING STATEMENT DATE - not the due date. 1) the interest will go down faster; 2) that's the day companies report to credit bureaus

I am just in my 2nd month of velocity banking. One of my credit cards had a limit of $1700. I was at that limit for almost a year, making the minimum payment and then charging some expense so the balance never really moved. By applying part of my income to the payment, the balance went down and was down most of the month while I paid off expenses I used to pay from my bank acct. End of month, the balance was still a little lower, but not a huge amount. Just checked my card and after just 2 months my limit was raised from $1700 to $2500. It's amazing! I'm at the very beginning of a journey like this as well. I've only got $500 limit to work with, but I'm hoping that getting that paid down quickly will help me get either a credit limit increase, or to qualify for a ploc very soon! I thought my only way out was bankruptcy until I saw some of these videos and now I have hope, as well as a plan to be debt free someday! ❤

In less than two weeks, will utilize a HELOC for a home improvement project and will roll in car balance. In completing my calculations today, it looks like I'll be able to pay this off in less than 2 years. This will drop 2 years off my car payments which I've already paid a year now. I have no credit card debt so thankful for that. Several months ago, I started seeking God for answers on how to eliminate debt quicker. I don't even know how you came up in my feed because I wasn't searching for anything on this subject. I truly believe it was God answering my prayers. You are a blessing. My 83-year-old mother is on fixed Social Security and we are going to try to use this technique to help her, as she is drowning in debt. And with only $1,900 a month in SS. This technique might be the key. Please do a video if you have any other tips of someone that Owns almost 98% equity of home, and on Fixed SS income, but has $70,000 in debt.

Ramsey serves his purpose, as well. Not enough people are disciplined enough for velocity banking strategies. The problem with Dave is, he paints everyone with a broad brush and some people are very capable of using velocity banking to get ahead, while others would benefit (for a time) from his strategy.

I agree it's dangerous. It takes responsability and will power. I was arrais só I ONLY out a bit more than the monthly free but... It was worth it. This month I got hot with a payment I wasn't expecting and in the Next 3 months I will be able to play some late bills back. It would no be possible if I hadn't donne it. I'm still afraid and AM going to keep it slow but I AM enjoying it.

Great job, keep at it!! We used the strategy on credit cards debt years ago and never stopped. We now have several lines of credit with over $100k available, more than $100k of credit card credit available and have used the lines to purchase two income producing rental properties. We started by wanting to pay off debt and after doing that, has transformed into a wealth building tool.

The problem with this is that you have to have good credit to get a Line Of Credit a PLOC or HELOC.

Its all about debt to income ratio. My credit score is excellent, but cant get a heloc or peloc. She also forgot the $1500-$3000 fees they charge to set up those loans...one company wanted $8000!! I started with a bunch of 0% cards.

There's a lot of merit to moving these balances to a credit line in this case because you've cut the interest to less than half of what it was; however, you don't need to go thru all the hassle and risk of putting your whole paycheck on the line. Just make payments and pay the extra principal on your own. A line of credit can help with cash flow by reducing interest expense - but in a much bigger way it helps by eliminating the requirement to pay PRINCIPAL, so you'll need to pay some principal if you want to get the debt paid off. Just don't use the reduced monthly payments to take on more debt and don't create new expenses - if you want to get the debt paid off.

Hi Christy! I love your videos and I have jumped onto Velocity Banking. I think it is what I have been missing. In another video I heard you mention Jordan Page and her $ amount on groceries/food/everything else you would buy like paper products etc. She says $85 per person or a minimum of $300 a month. Christy I know I’ve asked this question before but don’t ever remember seeing a response but my question is “can the strategy you teach work for me if I’ve filed a Chapter 13 bankruptcy? My monthly plan payment is $1600 monthly plus $1000 rent payment. Since a chapter 13 restricts one from utilizing any form of credit I’m trying to figure out an alternate way to pay off the bankruptcy quickly.

Pulling expenses out… When you get a line of credit linked to your checking…it acts like a checking account. So just like you pay bills out of checking, you will still do that but it comes out of LOC.

I'd just gotten a 5K LOC about 5 days ago, and I'm still learning - but I just checked again after your comment and it doesn't look like I can pay any bills from there, only from my checking account. I can make transfers between the accounts, so I could pay a specific bill's amount from LOC to checking. So with LOC accounts like mine, I am guessing I'll need to transfer my average monthly expenses for a month as one total from LOC into my checking after my pay is deposited into LOC. Hopefully I'll do it correctly, but learning about this plan has been such a blessing for me.
