I think it's about physical or psychological violence against children. To put someone in the corner also means to force someone to do something he is not interested in. Some parents push their children to take sports or studying too seriously, notwithstanding their capabilities or aspirations. "Can't you go any faster? Can't you hit any harder?" make me think about domestic physical violence, as well. "We couldn't get through the border" could mean a desire to escape, or to get into the situation to help "the kid". In any case, these lyrics hurt.

Exactly! I thought it could be about sexual abuse, but your point of view made me realize that the lyrics are about any kind of abuse against children. This song kills me.
