highly enjoyed the colab. LA & classic reset for me is a huge drag cause of the time constraints. also as yall mentioned the rewards are meh and do not motivate me to bother too much. if plarium made the chests play 35 matches and ya get something i mite make more of an effort.
I'm playing live arena only for Marius, and it's killing me. 3 months I've been after impulse boots. I've got 30 items of Impulse, none are boots. Thank goodness I have a full set of Zeal. I don't like live arena, at all. Even if I win 10 in a row, I still hate it.
Awesome colab in my opinion, I think your different personalities works well together! As far as the points made, one thing that really resonated with me was resetting and having seasons. I think that would be super fun!
I am at 1 300 rate Silver 1, as I have decayed down there, was 1 560 as highest. The reason I don't play is two reasons. First and by far the biggest BOTS! I don't have the energy to sit and watch someone get auto pick as they just time it out. The majority of my wins is against bots, now I have pressed find opponent and forgotten and I wouldn't mind at all getting an auto loss as the time ran out during ALL the pick phases (that would kill off the bots). Second is what Bront_catherder talked about, I get matched against people that just outrank my account big time. I just pulled my second void leggo, and so when I see someone pick the really good void leggos or great mythicals I am just like, yeah ty. Another thing that is kinda boring for me is that the first 3 picks is usually the same. Armanz, Arbiter and Wukong. From both of us and then we might differ out to what we have. Bront the last thing you talked about is more if they want to have it as an esport, but I doubt the will do that in the actual game as they want people to pull (just as drock said as I wrote it)
Lovin the content fellas. I only recently got into live arena and I’m working my way through Silver III currently. As someone very low spend / F2P it can be frustrating but I’m trying to find unique ways to counter meta champs and get the edge in Strat and gear. Definitely enjoy and appreciate any and all live arena content and suggestions!
I hate live arena. The time constraints are a huge pita. Not only the times that it's active but the fact that I have to sit here for 30 minutes to an hour concentrating on the game to get all of my matches in. The matchmaking is also terrible. Either I destroy my opponent or I get crushed. Competitive matches just don't seem to pop up that much and when they do I'm already pissed and don't even really want to play them. It feels like a huge waste of time but they force you to do it.
Matching by account level actually is a bad idea. People that just spend and love arena normally dont care about pve so they have low level accounts with tons of champs and mythicals.
player power as a match making guideline would be helpful. PP isn't a perfect measurement (Despite what the internet would tell you /s) but having that in the equation I think would help a bit in matchmaking overall.
Stoneskin's been the big problem to lower level arena for years but Plarium doesn't care about ftp. In fairness I don't care for their price model so there's always two sides to the argument.
It's like there is no "regular" game. All the regular stats are mostly useless, and it all comes down to how fast is your guy who can oneshot the entire team vs how fast is mine. Or how many guys who can not be killed (permanently) I have. There is no push and pull, it's all unstoppable forces vs immovable objects.
LA actually became a little more enjoyable after I got quintus and marius. Since now I don't feel like I wasted a key if I lose or it will take me longer to reach the goal. It has become more laid back and enjoyable. That said, I would definitely change the rewards for doing LA (participation rewards and rewards for winning, climbing and ranking during an LA season) and make every fortnite (14 days) a season. I think seasons that go over months are way to long.
matchmaking should value account power ALOT more than anything else. I kind of like pvp aspects of games, and i like to think i'm fairly solid in strategies and mechanical knowledge, but having started playing this year my account is good (imo) but not overstacked, no matter how much strategy i apply, i as a very low spender lvl 82 account, cannot beat lvl 100 10M+ power accounts. Its just impossible to have enough tools and gear compared to those accounts. And i run into these all the time in arena. Yesterday i had 9 straight games where i didn't get to take a single turn. And i've started using 2 speed leads since they used to flat out ban it (too young to grab armanz so no forced bans on him). And i run 350 shu-zen and 370 arbiter, and have bomber in stoneskin, and a phys nuker in stoneskin, so i usually have atleast 1 stoneskin available. I just broke into silver 3. 9 fights in a row with those stats and i don't even get to click something. Fucking atrocious tbh.
I have a good enough account I could’ve been in gold a long time ago but I hate playing live arena and just ignored it for a super long time. If I get matched up against peer accounts it’s a lot more fun but like you guys were saying silver is full of high spenders and with the ability to pick the same champs instead of gold restriction on dupes it’s always Armanz every fight both teams. I’ve started picking the same champs every time and put it on auto so I don’t have to get frustrated at it and it’s been working for me while I climb for Marius. Would love more restriction/seasonal type play with epics only etc
Live would be awesome if they did 3 simple things. Add rules for all levels and change/rotate them every week. Fix matchmaking system, but the lvls should not be a factor instead implement a new way of calculating account power.i have faced lvl 60 account with multiple empowered mythicals and with no speed aura they had more than 350 speed. This is pure new orn kraken.so, i stead Calculate account power based on hidden champ coefficient. For example, u got galathir? That adds 1000 points, u got the chicken thats like 300points etc. they know their champions they can assign power values. Also use items. How many champs that account has with over 300 speed or over 400. Adjust.etc finally, rotate the time slot available to play live arena. I have time only in the evening but if i eat with my family then i ll have to wait until 1am. This is ridiculous on a work day. Ofc merf polymorph a bit. Make it that needs accuracy at all lvls and make it last one turn. Finally, get rid of the 3% chance to random resist or random apply debuffs in pvp modes
I thought of a way that raid could kinda make polymorph better. They could make it similar to brimstone where it can only proc on A2 or A3 skills so you can make sure to avoid it when you want on an A1.
Outright banning SS would lead to it being completely dependent on the speed race. Theres plenty of ways to deal with SS especially at the high level. Matchmaking I agree is absolutely atrocious.
my main complaint with live arena is that I'm a level 82 player with some fairly good champs and some pretty decent gear. but at my rank, which is like bronze 4, there's people who are level 100 with far superior accounts. like, literally impossible for me to win a round with my gear.
I am level 86 and I have pushed my way up into Gold 1, and tbh, I win like 45%-50% of my fights because just about everyone on my account is built in stoneskin (and I was lucky to pull a Krixia in as F2p, but the matchmaking is hard. Tbh, i probably win against a lot of people at my level because of the champs I have and how I use them, and a lot of people have shiny champs that go boom and don’t have a lot of knowledge otherwise (and I get wrecked in the speed race bc I sit around 340 speed)
That gives me hope lol, my fastest champ just got to ~360 speed and im in Silver 2. I have two Armanz (both built around 300 speed) so im gonna be double Armanz boosting until gold 1 lol
@@Dunkirk101 yea same, they rather ban the 360 Arb and go first and hope to kill Armanz before he gets a turn. But i got an Armanz in Supersonic so he cuts in alot so peopme cant win the speed race lol
Gosh I hate Silver 4 LA. Unless you have crazy res stoneskin (which I don’t want to build everyone in due to Hydra) every single fight is two teams of Arb, Armanz, Wukong, a second nuker (usually) and a second speed/control champ. Then the fight is decided by whoever is faster, or possibly Polymorphed.
You guys are on point about this, but you also forgot how boring th lower level meta is, and that is i pick arbiter, they pick armanz and the monkey, i pick armanz they pick arbiter and the monkey. Most of the time i play armanz as a bluff so i can keep my arbiter.
Yes... No duplicate champions from silver up!! (Same team) Season idea is great... no stone skin... rarity restrictions, type of champions... magic, force etc...

What I am seeing is that the players who got marius and have pretty decent accounts are not fighting in LA arena anymore and are thus dropping down the ranks now. I've been stuck in silver 4 for months and just cannot get out of it into gold
I hadn't played live arena in a long time because, just didn't have the correct set ups for my champs. I pulled a rotos, did bunch of regearing, an in my 1st 10 matches back in silver 1......lol 7/10 the enemy team had either 1 or all mythicals. 😂An it was immediately back to ya no thanks
I got to mid gold 3 then gave up playing regularly. Timings weren't great and I didn't see much point of playing as I had Quintus unlocked and Marius. My win rate is about 68% I will probably drop down as low as I can to try to get the win ten fight medal then give up again.
Drock I 100% agree with the matchmaking system my alt is a 3m pp and went against someone who had a 18 pp acc and my fastest speed was like 370 and still got out sped and I'm only in silver 1 lmao
Now that Hydra has been pushed into maximum overdrive and most of my options have been flushed down the drain, I'm going to be seeing myself coming over to the other side of PVP for some time.
@@Thugzilla90 I understand that. I was a big Hydra fan too. But trust me... PvP is just as broken as PvE in this game. Every move Plarium is making is getting this game close to its death
The speed boost + Armandz and Mikage combo is just too strong in early arena. I have a faster Arbiter, I have lockout, but it doesn't matter because I am getting stunned by one of them and the ban doesn't matter.
Im in silver and im sitting at 50% win rate most nights. My biggest struggle is winning the speed race against other arbiters or whatever. Ive lost speed race when they didnt have a speed aura. My arbiter is 336 and i cant get her faster atm.
If it weren't for the area bonuses and missions I wouldn't even play love arena 4 different arenas it gives me fatigue We need someone pvp that's diffand balanced maybe even wave based
(f2p extremely unlucky) Live arena is increbily un-fun unless you just are lucky and have EVERYTHING, but the pve content is balanced around having the bonuses, so... sucks to suck, I guess. I usually just leave champ select immediately once I see the bullshit.
It is kinda messed up.. i am silver 1 havent played much my first 3 picks are yumeko armanz/lady mikage and arbiter. And it basicly doesnt matter who they ban i win almost everytime. Today 10/10 wins. Speed meta is just discusting
The smallest change they could do imho, make stats visible, but ONLY the stats. Then you''ll know what speed, acc, HP or attacking power certain champs have, but not what gear effects they may come with. This would hopefully also incentivize gear sets with effect that you'd otherwise not expect to be thrown in the battle. The worst BY FAR is getting circles run around you by some weak-power team that completely outspeeds you and then keeps you from actually getting a turn.
i like goating people ibto baning my lazarius so arby can be speed lead and i murder but not in silver yet... and bronze is full of lvl 100s with tonds of rotos siphi or other broken pairs..
