Fortunately we bought this house having flat front “a contemporary design” kitchen cabs, and you are exactly right. They are awesome. Easy to clean,and kinda like more of a spring cleaning task, than an every week thing chore.

You know what I’ve realized without wanting to stereotype a class… is men who design spaces don’t often think about the cleaning aspect. I can typically tell when a man has designed a space, because it’s often not user friendly, like kitchens and bathrooms. Of course this is my opinion and it doesn’t include “all” men, but, for sure, it’s a majority. Today frontless cabinets: or open shelves are all the rage, and although they look really cool, they are dust traps, and cause me the most headaches. On flooring: I noticed after we put porcelain tile “the big ones” in our bathroom, is how forgiving they are in regard to user friendly. One thing to note: just because you can’t see the dirt and dust doesn’t mean it’s still not there, but at least with these types of tile you aren’t feeling so gross, and aren’t reminded everyday you need to get on it. Like with my semi glossy wood floors, which are beautiful, but if I don’t dust them everyday, Im grossed out. No one seems to think about wide borders, on floor trims, or wall applications, and especially the beveled ones, or the squared edged ones for their dust collecting ability. I think before anyone is allowed to design a house interior and, or exterior they should be required to clean a house for a year.😊 I remember when we had our wood floors put in, my neighbor, 75 year old man, said let know how you like them in a year, and I thought he was being rude, but now I know, he knew what he was talking about, because we live in an area that can get a lot wind, and the dust can get unbearable. Yep, love my shaker cabinets , but you are so right about the dust on that little ledge. Don’t laugh but I use my blow dryer to get it out. Whatever works…

What do you recommend instead of marble? I have Quartz and I hate it. It has already chipped and it does stain if you are not careful. What do you think of quartzite? and do they have any granites that are light colored?? i know too many questions. lol

Granite does have lighter colors, but it requires sealing. You can look into meganit. They have some that look like marble :)
