recently bought an LMM and shit a brick on the drive home when I saw the same exact reading! I eventually found out it was normal, thanks for putting this video out!
My 07 HD LMM is exactly the same. I’ve got 160K and today the outside temp was over 105 degrees. My DIC said low oil pressure a couple times today before I changed my oil but the level was fine pre change. Truck seems to run fine as well. My hunch is that my pressure sensor might be getting clogged. Thanks for this video!
Man I’m so happy I found this because I just bought an 08 Lmm this morning and I was headed up 45 back home from the dealership where I bought it & I also was a little alarmed once I noticed the needle reading what looks to be 27-28psi @ best & I was trucking down the interstate @ 75mph in 50degree weather-i came from an LLY which had about 26psi even w/430k miles on it up until It was totaled a few weeks back so LMM’s & any of the 3 previous engines for Duramax’s seem to run this way & your video has enlightened me-Nothing to be concerned with but like you said stick with 15/40 good name brand oil-i always added a small amount of stiction eliminator (expensive green semi thick)to my crankcase mainly for flow & cleaning to turbo oil path etc. Thanks for the video-I’ll subscribe as well since im LMM now 👍🏼
Looks identical to my 2009 lmm. I've used t6 rotella since I bought it. I've got 162k on it now, bought at 90k. Runs great! I towed a 14k lb. 5th wheel around the US for almost 3 yrs.
That oil pressure is exactly what my lbz shows. I have driven or owned several GM duramax's and they were all identical to what your is showing. The angle that you view the gauge makes a huge difference. I was a passenger on a trip to TX with a buddy of mine that inherited a 2007 3500 dually dmax. This was in 2010. Truck had 27k on it and was in a barn in mint condition. When we fueled up before we headed back to FL, I leaned over and glanced at the gauges from the passenger side and it looked like it had about 10 psi oil pressure at idle. After fill-up, I drove the first leg back so when I hopped in the drivers seat the gauge read exactly as yours.
Exactly where my 07 LMM with 92,000 miles oil pressure sits as well, at idle and driving. Always worried me, but it definitely seems to be normal. I also had the low oil pressure light come on once after towing hard in the heat when it came down to an idle when i got off the highway. Probably going to toss a new pressure sending unit in mine just to see if it changes the reading at all.
Duramax engines are high volume low pressure that’s why you don’t have 60psi running constantly. Like a small block Chevy 350 runs 80psi. When the Duramaxs needs the oil it will put oil anywhere it needs.
My 08 LMM is just like that. I was running Rotella and it was right at 30 psi. I changed to Mobile Delevac and gained around 5 psi. I have around 350,000 on mine.
I have a 2005 extended cab dually that has the 6.6 ltr in it. I just pulled the oil pan off at 220000 miles.when i got everthing back together, theoil pressure started out at 30psi and dropped down to almost 0, and the motor still ran perfect. Im using t6 rotella 1540
What about on a 2008 duramax the light just flash when I give it gas sometimes but my truck run fine and I’m the second owner of it . I got 218000 on it now and the gauge look just like yours! I’m in Louisiana
Off subject! Oil pressure goes to nothing on gauge and goes up with rpm’s. Changed sensor. Cold oil pressure is good and gets worse with hotter oil. What do I need to change or do. I love the Duramax but I hate how close the gauge gets to the red. They need to change this
I have a LMM 115,000 miles I recently started getting DIC low oil psi, dropping to 7 psi edge2 monitor stock truck. I was running a Mobil1 filter and Rotella T6 5w40. Dealer flashed the computer, a new EOP sensor was installed same issue. I changed the oil & filter to 15w40 Delvac w/GM filter. Low OP alert has not come back but the psi still drops to 7 psi at idle.
One thing you could look for is too much return fuel getting into the oil, (maybe an injector issue). That would cause the oil to dilute and loose pressure, you'll be able to smell it in the oil. Other than that I would recommend taking it to a shop and have a mechanical guage test done for oil pressure. I believe anything under 13psi will trigger the Low Oil Pressure DIC. Best of luck to you buddy
I just posted this but, my 2005 duramax, has great oil presure going down the road, but at idle, its looks to be 0 since my gauge goes from 0,30,60 and soforth
I have an 08 duramax and it idles at 28 lbs of pressure and as soon as I touch the throttle the oil pressure sensors light warning goes off. Changed the sensor and it still does it. Looking to see if anyone has any advice.
@@shitshowracing17s62 Duallys are so awesome. Hard to find , took me a couple years to find mine. She doesn't flip a u turn worth a shit, and I get a ton of exercise parking in the back of every parking lot, but well worth it. Towing is effortless, even in high winds
