EPICLY BENEFICIAL TO FAR MORE THAN JUST OUR ENTIRE COMMUNITY. IT'S A VERY IMPORTANT ONE TO CONSIDER MATT FOR OUR TIMES. I KNOW IT'S A LOT TO BITE OFF BUT MAN, WHAT AN IMPORTANT ACCOMPLISHMENT FOR THE IMMEDIATE AND DISTANT FUTURE FOR ALL! @@MattCookOregon
Glad your back. Your sense of humor had me laughing. I am one of those that appreciate the science. I always enjoy and look forward to your videos. 😊🎉😂
@@MattCookOregon JUST LOOK AT THE EVER ENCROACHING DESERTS. I JUST WATCHED THE BBC PLANET EARTH II. IT WILL SHOW YOU DEVASTATING UNREFUTABLE EVIDENCE OF A CRISES SO ACTIVE, IT FAR EXCEEDS ALL SCIENTIFIC FEARS,
I agree the Pacific Northwest has not gotten a lot of snow so far this season. I was out and about today in Yakima, Washington and it felt like late spring. Oregon has a ton of wonderful things to see! I look forward to watching your outdoor videos. Blessings and wonderful adventures to you and your family.
Great video Matt! Really enjoyed how informative this one was, I enjoy science haha. Scary to see the Hoodoo parking lot and surrounding area. It is concerning how little snowpack there is. Looks like the next week should help a bit!
Same story down in the Sierras, we were in Bend late Oct and saw that early snow, took a beautiful drive over McKenzie Pass Road and saw lots of snow. Finally getting a little snow now but way behind compared to last year 😢
Oregon and Washington are both experiencing very low precipitation (both rain and snow). Spokane typically gets 44 in. of snow (30-year average), but only about 4 in. so far this year. La Pine, Oregon also very low so far this year. El Nino Southern Oscillation tends to move the jet stream south along with the precipitation. Blocking highs off the coast tend to push moisture south. Trend so far is not good!
According to USGS the Portland area is above averge in precipitation for the water year so far. And the next seven days (at least) are expected to be rainy.
I have a love/hate relationship with the snow living up here in the Cascades of SW Oregon. I love playing in it, but I sure hate shoveling it. It seems like I do wayyyy more shoveling than playing.
“Poor Big Company…” hahaha!😂. MN is also lacking snow, relatives are reporting. Also, they emptied out reservoirs for the salmon, and now there’s no snow pack! Bad news for summer and fire season. 😢
One of the things to add is that this last La Nina stuck around for almost three years, rather than the typical single year. July 2020 - March 2023. The current El Nino began June 2023. NOAA estimates it'll end sometime between April and June 2024. BTW, no need to apologize to science deniers. The rest of us appreciate your information!
22 really? Crazy. There is one near cottage Grove that I am interested in. It was part of the bohemia mining operation. Kinda wanna go see if there is anything left.
LMFAO... Don't stop with the science stuff! Looks like we're going to get hammered with snow over the next week and even down here in PDX it's going to get COLD! Bring it on... I need some good snowshoeing conditions :)
I don't have a problem with science the weather Company cant predict much more than 5 days accurately , I was all for the El nino this winter except the 1rst 1/2 of Jan. 30 inches of snow .I just retired at age 70 Jun 8 been having trouble reducing my calorie intake and really bad knees, so it wasn't welcome, I was cursing the day till I got done pushing the snow off. Then drove around with 6 inches of snow on the roof of my car. Then warmer weather and I like it. It's February 7th. Tomorrow and Saturday the 40s.Back in 1967 we had normal weather as I remember 3 feet of snow total accumulation was 17 feet but a couple thaws every year brought it down. since that time 5 separate incidences of really cold weather like 40 below zero F, yeah and '68 green grass all winter ground never froze and south arm lake charlevoix had an inch and a half of ice, usually 6 inches of good clear ice and 3 inches of sno ice, '69 40 below 2 inches of snow 36 inches of clear ice and 6 inches of mixed ice. 16 ton dump trucks drove on the ice , a 20 ton track excavator drove across the ice 1300 feet , a construction company was putting new on off ramps for the Ironton cable guided ferry i think it's the last one in the US still running, yep it was REAL cold then. We had real crappy weather after that year all the way to 1978 then it got scary 3.5 day Blizzard not like the make believe blizzards of today a little wind and 2 feet of snow that's when you wear your big coat, man 2 story houses snow up to the second window sill, lots of people died. I've never posted this much stuff to most people but you're doing what I used to do but I just felt like sharing info of the past with you I have no children and am divorced you look like you got a nice family started don't mess it up it could be your last chance, well maybe I'll think of something else you videos lots of neat stuff to glean.
Yep glad I said there is possibility for a good snow year cause last couple weeks has been nuts for snow. Prediction statistics can only be so accurate. It is always nice to hear about stories from way back, we tend to only hear about the last 5 years. Thanks for the family comment. A bit slower pace then I am used to but we are having a blast. I got an elk wildlife video coming next.
It’s wild too, since the globe model was brought to us by Rockefeller and Disney. Globe model has only been a theory taught as fact for about 75 years. All encyclopedias and dictionaries before the 50’s all spoke of a closed system and a stationary model. Always keep an open mind- science is not a religion, it’s about asking questions and testing theories.
El Niño!! Yep. Not global warming theory! Really hoping this doesn’t mean they’re going to DEW us again come summer and blame it on “climate change” but after what they did in Lahaina, anything is possible😔
@@MattCookOregon No, that’s silly! I have seen the patents, locations etc of DEW. You shouldn’t make fun of your subscribers, it’s OK to disagree without being rude! A good place to start is to just type in keywords, Air Force direct energy-I’m not crazy lol. It’s a very easy search!
I've enjoyed your channel and the scenery you cover as a fellow Oregonian. You went too far on this one with your "global warning" and climate change preach. Suggesting that we are experiencing global warming and a steady loss of snowpack/rainfall is a blatant lie, especially after the fantastic snow pack we had last winter and compete like of any real science to substantiate it. Lake Shasta ring a bell? Why don't you go back and revisit Al Gore's ridiculous, anti-science statements he made in the 1990's about Florida and other states being under water by 2020. Stop buying into the scam and stop pushing this garbage. It has zero to do with science and everything to do with global control over the masses and tyranny. I hope that you choose to get educated and wake up. Unsubscribing
OH, I KNEW TO EXPECT A TYPICAL MEMBER OF THE PUBLIC TO GO OFF LIKE AN IDIOT, AND SURE ENOUGH! IT'S SO FUN, MATT. NEXT TIME YOU ONLY DO A 1 LINER, PLEASE DO REPEAT IT X3 ... OH BOY!@@MattCookOregon
How refreshing to hear pinpoint accurate narration on such an important topic, if people don't want to confront the inconvenient truth, they can go on playing as Ostriches with their heads in the sand. Your excellent filming, for anyone with open eyes to see, blows away all denial. Really great job here, Matt, as always! Loved your saying the words, "Poor Big Company". Ha Bro, right on. I so hope America will be honorable in the face of the world and return to the International Climate Initiative Agreements at the Paris Accord International Climate Change Response Plan that were unanimously hammered out. It was amazing the hard work and cooperation efforts that went into its being such an outstanding success! So very rare to have seen such hard work by all countries in gaining multilateral agreements to address climate change on a united world effort. Americans can never again hold their heads quite as high on the world stage after dishonorably abandoning Americans participation and promises in agreements with all the other countries that labored so intensely to come up with an effective plan agreeable to all. A total bloody shame when Trump walked in and shocked the world by announcing that America was welching on our promised agreements.
Right on thanks Mike. I guess this video screamed politics to some. I didn't mean to. Just mentioned the planet is warming which is a touchy subject to some. That and some people just looooove big companies and that comment probably hurt them haha!
Funny how people confuse global warming with weather patterns. Go look at a 100 year graph and get back to me. Just because it's cold one day, doesn't mean the planet overall is not heating up. I know it's really hard for your pea brain to handle, but Imma need you to look at the bigger picture here, rather then the tiny bubble you live in.
