bought these boots 2 weeks ago, been on a few 10 mile hikes in em..and i have to agree that it doesnt seem like the boot need an breaking in. More like breaking in your feet, getting your feet used to wearing the boot. Thats just my experience anyway. Can honestly say this is the best boot ive ever worn on my feet. Gonna keep em clean and take very good care of em, hoping theyll last me a long long time. Can recommend this amazing product to everyone :)
I bought a pair in the USA. I wear a US 12 but had to go up to a US13 as they are cut small in the toe box area. I have seen other sites wherein they recommend going up at least a 1/2 size in this model
I've got a pair of these boots, I've had them 5 year and wear them for all my outdoor activities and they are only just starting to look worn, 100% waterproof. Take another pair of boots for relaxing around camp because they are stiff and become tiresome to wear. They do slip on some wet stone surfaces.
Hi all. Ive had my pair of these for just over 2 years now and use and abuse them. to help answer two Q's. Theyre 100% waterproof. have worn the in realy wet boggy ground and have stayed bone dry. Re heat, ive always found them warm, but never hot/sweaty etc and im a t-shirt in winter person. Best boot ive ever worn.
I wore my GTX on the para ten this weekend (12.10.10) best and most comfortable boots i have had,but soles very stiff and not much flex,i will happily say the best boots i have ever brought, but for the next para ten i will be buying and trying the lighter recon boots, for increasing my speed and maybe new socks, but still no blisters,
These are the new ones avoid the ones with the same eyes all the way up as tbe heels crumble within a year . (Looks like cake crumbs clumped up ) they changed the soles and eyelets past the mid locking loops .. they are better .although the older faulted versions had no issues with the uppers there are still a few pairs nocking around ..
Footwear is very personal to the individual. Granted 99% of individuals who purchase LOWAs think they are a first rate boots and have no problems, however in the same vein, Meindls are an excellent boot too and are manufactured to a very high spec.
Footwear is a very individual choice. If, you travels, you suspect that you may get water over the top of your boot on a regular basis, then I may be tempted to opt for a Patrol Boot or Supercamp (Same style but either Leather or Cambrelle lined) . If not then the Mountain Boot would probably fit the bill. Size 11 would probably be fine, but very much your choice..
I take it that I’d order my regular size (as in trainers etc) BUT would need thick socks with these?? I have a pair of Mil-Tec mountain boots, they have done a brilliant job but they are now coming apart. Had to wear thick socks with them (I always wear 2 pairs of socks anyway, summer/winter, in trainers etc .. don’t know why just habit) .. and an 8 in the Mil-Tec was spot on.
I do regular wild camping around the North East, UK. I currently have a pair of £90 Merrell boots which although are comfortable, they did succumb to the damp terrain when I was up in High Cup Nick last October. Question: would the Lowa Mountain Boot GTX suit wild camping? I'd mostly tackle steep hills, streams, boggy terrain, tarmac roads, uneven surfaces in general....these boots look awesome, btw. Im also a size 11 fit, would you guys recommended a size 11 or one size up/down?
+Steven Diamond If you're in the ACF go for the Combat GTX it's slightly higher which is better for military wear and trouser twists. It's a great hiking boot, is fully waterproof, and doesn't need much maintenance :)
Iyiygig 86ff7fg78y hi there and thanks for the message. The video is an old one on LOWA. The question I would ask of you is what do you want to use the boots for? Any boot for £50 won't, in my opinion, be technical footwear. There are cheaper makes of boots on the market that are comparable to LOWAs but not for £50. Hope that helps...? Cheers Andy
theyre solid bike boot hiking .. but the soles arent good for snow or slop . they need a hanwag trapper type sole .iv had three pairs of lowa you do get to abuse them they just take it . shame the grips no good on softer stuff .. put me off pair no 4 .. but on a positive note theyre the reason i still have my foot after two motorbike accidents . thoroughly recvomend them for bikers 👍👍👍👍👍👍
Yes it does, but will it work reasonably well for extended glacier tours? The sole of this boot should be quiet rigid. Contrary to popular opinion, i always preferred softer soles for evereything from trecking, to indoor climbing and via ferratas. Thanks alot!
