Saw them live in Newcastle, best gig i've ever been to, met the lads afterwards too. Had a tab with Mike and Eddie then got their autographs it was surreal.
Ive been a fan for a while, not sure how long and this was the first song and vid for me. I love how cheesy and armature the video is. Not in a bad way, its well made but thats what gives it its charm.
Juan Pirul 2 years later you get a reply lol... but this song is a bonus track from the deluxe version of Changing Tune, which is not on Spotify. Definitely needs to be put on Spotify tho, this song is a banger
the lyrics in the 3rd verse are; "Have you ever thought that maybe the Truman Show was real? I'm the leading role of my own show and all my secrets are being revealed. I need an offswitch on my brain before I go insane" so probably yeah :) haha
i saw this song on the music channel scuzz and loved how it was based on the truman show, but i forgot the band and song name. then the same thing happened again. then i saw this in recommended videos, recognised it and now i've found it i love it even more :)
Track explores themes of existential uncertainty, the search for purpose, and a struggle with mental health. In the opening lines, the protagonist ponders what would happen if the world were to end. This question reflects their uncertainty and anxiety about their own existence. They wonder if they would "plummet or ascend" in the face of such an event, or if they would even be aware that it had occurred. This suggests a feeling of detachment from the world and a sense of helplessness. The protagonist then expresses a desire to believe in destiny and that there is a plan for their life. However, their mind resists accepting this idea, possibly due to their struggles with insecurity and self-doubt. This internal conflict adds to their feelings of confusion and disillusionment. The song further delves into the protagonist's dissatisfaction with their current circumstances. They describe feeling trapped in a monotonous existence, where each day feels the same. This repetition leads to a loss of motivation and a gradual decline in their outlook on life. They long for something to change, to break free from this cycle and find meaning. The line "Have you ever thought that maybe The Truman Show was real?" references the movie "The Truman Show" in which the main character realizes that his entire life has been a manufactured reality TV show. The protagonist compares themselves to Truman, feeling as if they themselves are part of an elaborate show where their secrets and struggles have been exposed. This notion adds to their desire for an escape or an "off switch" to their racing thoughts before they become overwhelmed. Overall, "If the World Was to End" reflects a sense of existential crisis, grappling with one's purpose and the burden of a troubled mind. The lyrics convey the protagonist's yearning for change, understanding, and a renewed sense of hope in the face of personal struggles.

it's a bit of both, they used monster because it's their sponsor but it's also a reference to that bit in the truman show where marlon is drinking a heavily branded beer. if you watch the film, the whole thing becomes much more clear :)
