I’m putting in larger springs for a 2” lift on mine (farm truck keeps bottoming out in the field) and I couldn’t figure out how to pull it apart! This video helped a ton!!
Had an 87 s10 2 door blazer and a 91 single cab that were 6/8 static, all beltech. My 85 2 door s10 blazer was originally 6/8 static but the coils and shocks were replaced with bags. My 89 s10 2 door blazer is a 6/6 static drop and with the stereo system in it is 6/8. The others (88 single cab, the other 91 single cab, the other 85 2 door blazer, 86 2 door blazer)were all stock height. Yes you could say i like my 1st gen s10s and blazers. It all started with the 88 single cab.
Yep. I have an option for an 04 single cab, all I have to do is build the speaker box and do the stereo system in his 03 single cab, but I'm still not sure I want it because I'm partial to the 1st gen
Awesome video, haven't watched you videos for some time, only because I've been working on the 3rd shift at a new job since last year, also at the same time, I had my 01 Sonoma dropped 2 inches in the front with a pair Belltech 2102 Drop Spindles, 2004 Corvette C5 13" slotted and cross drilled disc brakes and Corvette C5 dual calipers during the summer last year, better stopping power than OEM for the 18x8's
Good evening, I want to put outdated handles on my truck, but on my truck I have a 14 rim. You can put the outdated handles with the 14 rim. There is no problem if the rim rose because it is 14
I've got a stock 91 the front is a lil soft and bouncy still after a shock replacement so im guessing springs are wore out. Would some lowering spring help stiffen it up some or are those springs soft as well?
I been stressing over this job for years... but it’s about time! I don’t have drop spindles, just the springs but I’m still not sure which shocks to run?
At 19:17, you show replacing the cotter pin on the upper ball joint. Did you tighten the nut down too much? Shouldn't the cotter pin go between the castle slots on the nut? It looks like it's outside of the notches.
you should always torque the nut down first then continue to tighten until your pin holes line up. doing it any other way will lead to excess wear and even failure. if the hole is over the top of the castle nut slots then instead of wrapping the pin parallel to the threads wrap it perpendicular to the threads with one arm of the pin being pressed down into the castle and the other wrapping over the end of the stud. failure to torque tie rods down will bare minimum give you a very annoying clunk and lots of slop in your steering
Looking to lower my 90 S10 Blazer coupe' 2wd and not sure how low I will go. I don't want to be in the weeds as much as you and I will be adding a L33 in the near future, how low do you recommend?
I always recommend getting spindles and leafs to start with. Will retain most of the factory ride and specs. That gives you a 2/3 drop. And you can adjust from there depending on the look you're going for.
My pops used to work on busses way back in the day. Thats where that huge screwdriver came from.it was used as a window lock in a garage i used to have also.. lol
Curious question - when you re-installed your outer tie rods to the new drop knuckle - did you install from bottom with the screw facing up? My 97 was like that then I wondered if I should have reversed them due to the lower knuckle point?
Hey got a question kinda off topic but figured you could help my 93 just did my starter it’s a carquest starter put both shimes back in there’s a big shime and a small shime and it sounds way different with this starter when cranking. do the shimes go back in or do they come out? Does 1 just go back in?
How are the lowering springs compared to the drop spindles? I’m doing a tight budget build on my s10 and I was thinking of getting lowering springs with lowering shocks or should I do spindles for ride quality? Thank you
Spindles 1st then coils. If you go coils 1st you'll probably have a raised portion of the roof due to hitting your head every time you hit a bump. Actually rides worse than 1 with hydraulics.
@@HardCoreGarage So, I was just wanting to drop my 96 S10 in the front 3". Your saying I should do the 2" spindles then a 1" coil drop vs a 3" coil drop?
I just did something similar a few weeks back. You were seriously making me cringe sticking your fingers in the coil while raising the lower arm. Good safe method (next time) get a 2'piece of 1/2" all thread - 2 square washers and 2 nuts take the shock out and run the all thread from top to bottom with the square washers on top and bottom. If anything EVER comes loose it will not let the coil come out plus you can can compress with turning the nuts.
What size tire is on it in this video ? I want to do a 3/4 drop but don't want any rake either i want a level stance. But will b running factory wheels n tires for a while
damnit u did that the hard way man. just pop the bottom ball joint loose pull the shock out the bottom and pull the bottom of the spindle out then push the bottom a arm down with ur foot. the spring will pop out....
Hahaha I try it all differnt ways. I usually pop the lower ball, but you forgot the sway bar. On my 64 olds its just the lower ball joint, the sway bar is behind the wheels. Easiest thing I've ever taken apart.
@@HardCoreGarage yeah I forgot that bottom sway bar nut and let er fall. I used to love doin s10 drops but since I been doin it full time its gets old and u end up doin the same 3/4 ot 5/6 drop or bagging over and over again. My whole family are s10 nuts. I've had about 40 both my sons have a few. We all have at least 1 airh either a 350 or a LS 5.3. S10s are the best thing ever made lol. My buddy is close to opening an s10 junkyard down here in Alabama. Hes been buying em up for about 15yrs now. Hes got alot of my old ones I wrecked or whatever. I haven't ever found a cameo tho. Its 1 I want I've had a typhoon and cyclone before.imma new sub tho I will be watching all ur vids. Imma keep u as a possible parts hookup if we run into anything we need. I know we do need a clean str8 s10 blazer back bumper for my sons daily s10. If u run across a good one lemme know .
@@HardCoreGarage imma look for ur 64 oldsmobile .. I have a 64 Chevelle SS. I love the old 60 and 70s GMs. My dad was a chevelle nut and I inherited his cars so we have quite the junkyard goin on unfortunately
