Lowering the mainsail to the makeshift lazyjacks 

Trying the technique described by Fastrak at SA forum:

Bring the genoa halyards aft under the bottom spreaders, port and starboard, and clip them on to each other under the boom about 1/3rd back from the mast. Do the same with the spinnaker halyards, but straight back from their exit points and clipped on to each other under the boom further back. Voila, ready made jackstays.
