I was born in Lowestoft (Lowestoft Hospital 1960). Moved to Australia when I was 12. Hoping to get home to see family after almost 50 years. Lowestoft is still home to me.
It’s gone so downhill I’m sad to say. The lowestoft hospital that you were born in is now fully abandoned. The town really was so much better back in your day vs mine
I was born in Lowestoft in 1945 and lived there until I was 18. I returned for a visit a couple of years ago and so much has changed. Some of the older scenes in the video were virtually unchanged from when I was a school kid but on my recent visit I found many parts of the town quite unrecognisable.
I was a choirboy in St John’s church back in the late 50s remember getting locked in one night after choir practice screaming the place down and the police and the choir master letting me out. I haven’t been the same since Ha! Ha! Lowestoft has changed a lot,not always for the good but still have fond memories as a child growing up there.
...lovely film thank you, I didn't realise the king neptune statues were really old looks like from Edwardian times although today they look like they could do with some renovation. 👌
How the hell is that Gull still sitting on top of that statue 100 years later? (It's in both old and new pictures, I live In Lowestoft and am now going down the beach to see if it's still there lol
0:40 Oh my, I've lived in Lowestoft (Carlton Colville) for nearly a decade now. Been passed that way many times, never knew there used to be a church there.
