He is fantastically talented and so brilliantly wise. If the rotten establishment and turnip toff government go after him again for speaking the TRUTH they will have to get through us first.
@@certi5632 This is part of an article from 2016 when Lowkey returned that explains some of what happened 'Throughout history, people who have risen to the occasion to speak about justice, equality, love, liberty, and peace have been targeted by the tyrannical governments that serve captains of industry. Nowhere is this more true than of British independent hip-hop artist and revolutionary political thinker, Lowkey. After a four year hiatus, Lowkey returned last week with a new single called “Ahmed,” with a video produced by the independent British media collective GlobalFaction, and announced an upcoming tour of England. He rose to prominence in the British hip-hop scene entirely as an independent. He never signed with a record label as a matter of integrity and creative freedom. Lowkey has consistently warned the public against the illusion of “gangsterism,” which is pushed by rappers owned by corporate record labels who bank on gangster rap being used as a form of social engineering to dumb down the public into engaging in destructive behaviors, killing each other over drugs, all the while private prisons in Britain and America laugh all the way to the bank as they incarcerate the masses. Lowkey’s music was filled with messages against egoism and especially against the objectification of women. However, what caught the eye of the powers that be was his outspokenness about the ruling class in government, banking, media, and industry. Despite lots of gossip and rumors by entertainment reporters, Lowkey retired to spend time in Palestine attending a university, according to a statement made by hip-hop artist Akala' There are many theories one of them being that he got intimidated by the British government into retiring, the difficulties it placed on his life, his home was raided and how political persecution of dissent is a serious issue that must be done away with, especially for people who go deep in the rabbit hole and discover how the ruling power structure works. We need to protect him.
This guy has no record label, done a fire in the booth in 2010 with almost 6 million views. He’s an OG and stopped doing rap for 7 years to do a PHD and now he’s back with a daily duppy. I do not wanna see any hate, this guy will still lyrically slap your favourite rapper if he wanted to
Can't lie, I initially thought this was the OFB Lowkey because I didn't expect to see the OG anytime soon, but it's good to see him back and barring 🔥🔥🔥 I dunno how legends are adequately given their flowers, but the scene needs to find a figurative florist especially for people like Lowkey because he has the commercial world actively tryna rub him out.
"Rap like I'm trying to hurt you it's commercial, but rap like I'm trying to help you it's controversial" this alone shuts it down 💯💯🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
I can't even begin to tell yall how happy I am that I clicked on this. I'm in America, and I miss lyricists like this. Swear the best music is coming outta UK the last 5 years.
Don't know how down you are with the uk scene but if you liked this obviously check out more lowkey but also Akala, Logic (uk logic not american) mic righteous and English Frank. A nice selection of uk rappers that speak that real.
For the newer generation who are unaware of who Lowkey is and what he represents, take a moment to acknowledge and witness greatness on levels which aint accounted for in todays society. ALWAYS WILL BE G.O.A.T
This guy is the most humble down to earth person you'll ever meet. Always bump into him in the ends and always has a smile! Love my G! Smashing it up as always! God bless you broski 🙏
Exactly! Such a shame, been listening to him for years and listen to his old tunes til this day, different level hes on and all without rapping about drugs, women and money. But hes way too underrated smh.
@@danyal877 Back in the height of the paranoia he was blaclisted for his pro Palestinian/pro Iraqi stance and falsley gagged under various terrorist acts. Just for his political music. After that he fucked off to Goldsmith to get a degree.
@@SOL-UK To my understanding he studied in the UK but soon after he began his hiatus he went to Palestine to do humanitarian work, but I could be a bit off on that one
@Flames Case Studieshaha had it happen to me about a year ago, for a channel i cant remember now, but would be like 12 hours or so of upload i wouldn't be able to watch the newest videos. still don't know why or how it happened/s but it did. makes you think your going crazy 😅
@@revertakh1235 Pretty sure Aftermath is Dre’s label, not Eminem’s. Em does own Shady Records tho, I just think he was affiliated with Aftermath back in the day
More lyrical content in this one track than most 'artists' entire careers. I'm listening to this for the 3rd time back to back now.. Still picking up on things I missed the first 2 times.
Lowkey, Akala, wretch 32 and avelino are so clearly above everyone else, I can only assume they work harder and actually WANT to improve every day. So happy to see Lowkey on here !!!!!!!!!!!
@@official.avdmj15 Wretch is sick but he's more social woke. You don't hear him breaking down the massive institutions in simple terms. I think he's the most unique rapper out of the the three thats been said so far cos you couldn't put him in a category cos he's in his own lane and that lane is quite untouchable too but Lowkey and Akala are both people that drive forward a conventional means of self growth in ways which no one that still plays the position of a rapper can do. These two have more to them than just rap, like he said he's literally quoted for the things he says and same with Akala. Wretch ik has a few quotes, but like I said he's socially woke and plays the role of what a rapper she be like. In fact wretch and lowkey made a tune back in the days search for it you won't be disappointed!!
Its mad cos i just realised theres a whole generation of kids who don’t know who this guy is 😕. Glad i grew up on Lowkey and other grime veterans rather than the likes of 69 and Jay1 lol
You've also got Logic, Caxton Press, Taskforce (farma G and Chester P, the real OGs of uk hiphop) Jehst, Akala, Fliptrix, Leafdog and the rest of Highfocus, blah records ala Children of the Damned.... man theres so much good uk hiphop between 2001 and 2020. You just gotta look.
@@shacklock01 unfortunately new generation won't know about those early mc's.also blak twang, mystro, rodney p, fallacy, scorzayzee, supar novar, poisonous poets, md7, klashnekoff, roots manuva, skinnyman, phi life cypher, supa t etc.theres too much
@@marxman300 haha innit, so much. Uk had that beautiful neo 90s east coast scene but fully british for so long. Kinda sad that people just think of grime now when they think uk hiphop.
I grew up listening to Lowkey, Akala, BlackTheRipper(R.I.P😢☹), Logic, and man am I glad I did. They really opened up my eyes. This was cold btw! It gave me chills, listened to it 3 times and found new sentences every time. It is like a gold mine. I really missed Lowkey, been waiting for a comeback for years. Hope this is his year.
this guy can go away for years and come back with a track or freestyle like this Like it’s nothing “I will be killing it for four seasons” Like “lowkey” he’s UK gold lyricist
If you don’t know who lowkey is you’ve got a full catalogue of stuff to listen to. One of the most important uk artists and over all one of the best lyricists of all time.
There is something I love about almost all Lowkey songs that I have been listening to ever since I was a kid. He teaches us new stuff through his music and intentionally mention names that the average person have probably not heard off before so that we go and do our own research and learn even more new stuff. That’s why I appreciate Lowkey, as we are lost in our day to day lives and probably too busy/lazy to read/research, he helps us to widen our scope of knowledge.
To all you Muslim rappers . Notice what real is . And all rappers messing up the Yates heads . We go on about BLM . But the music out there is destroying our people’s heads. Respect lowkey my bro
The day I hear Low-key on my radio will be a day in history to remember. I have felt every lyric he spits in my soul for over a decade , he literally speaks what’s in my soul. I’m gonna collaborate with him one day. Fuck I’d pay to see him in parliament. Revolution is coming ….
Welcome back to our brilliant brother Lowkey. You have been so missed. Congratulations on the birth of your baby boy. He has such amazing parents. Rest in Power Black the Ripper we will never forget you 💗
WALLAH HUGE RESPECT TO LOWKEY Hands down the best rapper !! Best lyricist ever !! Now this is what I call real rap; addressing the real issues in societies !! ABSOLUTE REALIST RAPPER ON THE SCENE !!
