I remember 8 years ago it was my first year in college, the English language course instructor gave us an exam where he would give us an essay to write without knowing the topic beforehand. The topic was money. This song inspired me to write that essay and I was crying while I was writing it. I got a full mark in that exam, and the instructor made me read it out loud for the whole class to listen. Lowkey shaped my personality as a human being through his music.

As a white western journalist working from within the machine I have an enormous amount of respect for Lowkey, his beliefs and his message. We need more like him and we need them NOW. The true state of the world situation is a far cry from the candy coated, over simplified bullshit we were all spoon fed from birth. Ask questions, demand answers and never trust a fucking word that comes from the lips of politicians or corporate leaders. You keep making the music and I'll keep bumping it loud.

The Venezuelan people are suffering, and more so than the "capitalistic" countries surrounding them. Since Chavéz took over Venezuela has been spiraling downwards, and populistic comments glorifying communism/socialism without any true knowledge or insight into the real situation only worsen the situation. Money is not as important as people make it is. It's not special enough to be the soul of a song, to be #1 or even #2 in your life. That being said it does not mean that it isn't NEEDED to live in today's society.
