This video takes you step by step on how to perform a proper install on the all-new Active Target Transducer and Module from Lowrance. #lowrance #activetarget #paulgettysfishing #paulgettys #livesonar
*I bought this model for my 14 ft Jon boat. **enjoyable.fishing** recommend love it!!! It pushes my boat with ease ( 2 men 220 each). I would highly recommend this to anyone.*
Thx for going over the proper mounting position of the active target the dealer had it reversed and I found your video and just unscrewed it flipped it and it worked!
Great, detailed video Paul. I don’t see why they didn’t put a D for Down, S for Scout, and F for Forward on the bracket and/or the transducer. That would have made it so much easier!
I got a question. My garmins turn on at the same time when one is powered on.. my lowrance hds units dont and need to be turned on independently.. but i do have the yellow wires connected from the bow and helm unit.. cant figure out why they don’t turn in st the same time..
Very good! I appreciate the details and tips. Having those hash marks is a smart design feature. I do wonder why they need an external ground wire instead of using the ground that already comes in the power cord. Kudos for not using bubble wrap. LOL!
Took Lowrance 2 1/2 years to catch up to Garmin but this one looks good! I do think they forgot to copy the method of changing the position of the transducer. Who wants to unscrew knobs every time you want to change the position of the transducer? A CLICK like Garmin would have been FAR superior. I wonder if the Garmin bracket that clicks would fit a Lowrance transducer? Great video!
Great video. How many batteries do you have on your boat and which battery are you running the power to? Love the Phoenix boats, has all the room to do anything and everything you want.
You can use both, this year I will be using the new scout wide mode on a live foot which requires 2 active targets and modules then a 3rd on the tm for forward. The reason I don't use ghost360 is the disabling of the trolling motor while using it.
Got everything set up, but my unit came with no grounding screw. What are the specs to get a replacement and how dangerous is it to run without the ground?
Mine was the same. M4 - 4mm pan head screw (6mm in length). Picked one up at hardware store. The unit is technically grounded via power cable. This is only required to help with interference from what I’ve read/seen. I’d put it in to ensure best operation.
Just installed AT today and wired according to your recommendation. Black-Ground, Blue-Not Used, Red/Yellow-Hot and wired together downstream of the fuse. It all appears to be functioning correctly; however, the light on the power is flashing green and yellow. Is that correct or should it stay solid green? Any feedback would be appreciated. I have tried to find in the manual....no luck. Great video and thanks for putting this together!
Can 1 AT2 module show the Scout mode only or the forward facing mode only with the Lowrance Live or Pro head unit?? Then do you just manually adjust the module for the other view?
Do you have to have the Lowrance Ghost Trolling motor in order to have the active target system I currently have Motorguide Xi5 and the Lowrance Elite 9 Ti2 i understand that it is not compatible will i need the elite 9FS /12FS OR THE HDS LIVE
Hi @Paul I have installed my AT and it is working well. The only issue I have is how to calibrate the direction I saw on my HDS live with Ghost arrow? Any tip on this ?
U need a point 1 antenna for it to calibrate properly, pages settings sonar, active target installation, heading offset, + degrees is clockwise - is counter clockwise
I hooked my yellow wires to a switch. If I plug the power cord into the module there is no power. I flip the switch and I have power. Now when I try to turn it off it will no turn off
Great video, thanks for making it. Question re: yellow wake-up wire - if connecting it to the yellow wire from your chartplotter, does that prevent the active target module from drawing power when the chartplotter is powered off?
Hey paul love the video. Super helpful have a question I cant find an answer to I've upgrade to hds live from gen3 will the 3d structure scan still work with the live and will it work with active target on the same unit or would it be best to have 2 separate units one for each
Love your video's Paul! I have a Minn Kota Ulterra trolling motor so I'll have to use the mount for the actual motor. Other than the scout mode, am I putting myself at a disadvantage? Will this affect the performance?
Great Video but I have a question. Does active target require “network sonar” to be enabled on the HDS Live unit where the module connects via Ethernet? Bow HDS Live->Ethernet->Active Target. I currently have “network sonar” disabled to keep temps, depths,.... local to that unit.
@@PaulGettysFishing Anyway to test to ensure everything is working properly off the water? (Outside of validating all software is updated and you can see the units listed on the connected unit)
Hi I just installed my active target , the signal seems to be weak. Anything deeper than 10ft has a weak return. Signal gets weak. I did not ground the box, could it be that or something else ? Thanks
I purchased the active target and a elite fs 9. Hook up but am not getting any reading on the graph from the transducer. It picks it up just no readings. Any help is greatly appreciated.
You mean the live sight? If u have a Crappie boat or striper boat that would be the perfect solution or u can sell it.I use mine on my striper boat on the transom
In the settings on the mfd you can flip the transducer depending on whether it's mounted on the port or starboard side of your trolling motor shaft. But the display doesn't tell you which is which. In the video it's mounted on the starboard side and there's no mention of flipping it so I assume starboard is the factory default but wanted to confirm.
Yes, I understand that. My question is does the factory setting on my HDS Live assume I mounted it prop in/transducer starboard and therefore there is no need to flip it in the settings?
