NMEA networks and bad weather I have a question I haven't seen asked. We've just gotten a boat with a nmea 2000 network to engines, controls, instruments, nav equipment, etc. The question is when things go to hell and your fighting to get back to the harbor to save your life, the boat's getting slammed, there's water in the hull that the pumps will hopefully take care of, stuff is even leaving -I'm talking getting ugly. Do you know if there is there any history on networking systems staying working (assuming they are installed correctly) -example -few year old extension cable connectors getting submerged, backbones getting soaked, system boxes getting soaked etc? The stuff seems kind of tender to me.
It would have been nice to demonstrate how to hook up the NEMA backbone to the battery, fuse, and switch. Should the backbone be wired direct to the battery or is wiring it to the boats main power buss allowed? That might be an idea for a future video?
A gps antenna will run your battery down over time unless its connected through a console on off switch. Dont forget to include fuse protection cconnection. Positive power supply connection.
Why one device (in this case Motorguide) can't be connected to Lowrance Elite Ti9 unit directly? I don't have any space for Starter Kit. I am not planning multiple devices on my small boat. Only one Ti9 and Xi3 55-48FW Pinpoint GPS trolling motor with separate batteries. Acid 100Ah 12V for Motorguide and LiFePo4 12V 25Ah for Lowrance Elite Ti9. All this stuff for feed up network 2m long?
Would this apply also to a LCX 113C-HD? I have a few components on a used boat that are not plugged in ( only have 1 tee) GPS, RADAR, SPEED SENSOR, Fish finder are some of I can remember looks like they removed the setup before I bought it
The SDS port is the plug that the mechanic connects their laptop to so they can read the engine codes and test things. You have to change the engine harness connection under the cowl so it is plugged into the SDS diagnostic port. For instance, on a Suzuki df200ap you would Simply unplug it from current plug and connect to SDS port and the add your Suzuki interface wire, This then sends digital data to the harness and thus to the gauges so you could see the data of your engine.
Hi, why won't Lowrance do a total install video on different outboards so people could see how to connect to sds port, run wiring, ect.... There sales would probably skyrocket. I know its work to make a full video but helping people understand the process is priceless.
Hi, We are always looking to provide information our customers find useful. Suggestions are welcome and will be added to the list. Could you explain a bit more on the "connect to sds port" ? We would likely present something like this in a series as complete installation would be a lon video. Thank you for the feedback
Hi, The NMEA N2K network should not be used to power the HDS display units. The N2K network should have its own power source and should only power devices designed specificlly to obtain power from this network. A properly configured network will support many devices and two HDS units would pose no problem
So I’m gonna keep all these back bones to the front, and just have one cable by itself going to the graph at the councel. That cable will go from the graph at the council up to the side of the T right so I wouldn’t need a terminator?
@@lowrance so I have the live at the bow and a TI2 at the counsel. Can I set the Nema up to the TI2 as well and be able to control the ghost with that too?
