justincase if you didn't want an opinion off random people over the internet (I inferred this due to your use of "thanks for your two cents" or whatever the exact quote is, which basically means my opinion was unsolicited, or to make it easier for anyone reading with lesser knowledge - not only referring to you here, justincase - I would say you thought my opinion was pointless and unwanted) then why did you go into overly extensive detail about your financial state? Of course you can write whatever you please, but that freedom also refers to myself. So when I saw your post, which looked to me like a sympathy attempt (which you're more than entitled to write about) I'm going to comment on it, as I am also entitled to do so. Maybe I should be nicer online, maybe you shouldn't give me the chance to be not so nice, does that make sense? Me giving my "two cents" may have seemed unnecessary to you, but to me your talk of money being tight was also unnecessary. Also, using large or lesser known, complicated words over social media doesn't make you any smarter than anyone else, it seems like a desperate need to seem above everyone else. You're doing exactly what I'm doing, the very thing that has you so wound up that you took time to write a whole paragraph about. It's fine you feel so passionate about responding on what you believe in but certainly you skipped the step in which you apply it to yourself. If you care this much about the freedom of one's voice, that I too believe in, you would understand that I can freely reject or critique on whatever I so please. Your attempt at seeming to have an upperhand in a place where everyone thinks they have the upperhand on a topic that in MY opinion is miniscule and could be applied to a more progressive form of education but like I said, that's just my opinion. In this topic, I choose my right to reject your opinion or "two cents". I refer to your opinion here as "two cents" because in my mind, how your opinion has affected me equates to that worth. It sounds really harsh and honestly I suppose it is but I'm allowed to be an asshole if I want to. Now I don't see you as someone worth merely two cents and perhaps there are many subjects and topics that I see as valuable and where I would highly value your opinion, unfortunately this is not one and that's okay. Yes, it may offend you but I still can value what I value and vice versa . Now you don't appreciate the vocabulary I use, you think that I think I'm better and maybe you could even say that you view me as uppity. Do you know me? Have you ever met me? Have you ever spoken to me outside this small fraction of the internet? I don't recognize you but who knows. You can believe what you want to but I don't choose my words with a pretentious mind, at least not coherently. I'm not the smartest person who ever lived. I'm just me, someone who enjoys expressing themselves thoroughly to the best of their abilities. I don't use this tone or these words in all settings at all times but when I do, I try my best to speak. I don't look down on you for not, same as I don't feel less than when others speak more proper or use words I don't know. I wasn't trying to "win" or be "right" and maybe not responding at all would have been the wisest idea, but you and I both know that I'm not always the smartest. The term "two cents" is very common where I'm from (the people I grew up with in the places that I've lived) so I didn't even think that saying that was considered to be somewhat foreign but like every word or phrase that I have ever used in my life, it was once foreign. I learned it, you learned it, someone else will. I guess the reason why I responded was because I personally felt like you were pulling a comment I made in a more loving tone into something of negativity and that you devalued my comment by assuming I felt self pity. Maybe I was, self pity is pretty necessary to one's sanity because not everyone can be there for you at all times. It wasn't self pity with intentions of others' pity (for me I really really don't like how that feels). This self pity was in a lighter tone because I really love this artist. At that particular time all I was doing was working and paying off rent and I wasnt having fun so I was pretty fucking siked about this album. I really didn't think that deeply about the whole self pity vibe, I was only stating what was current in my life to express how happy I was to buy myself something. It was just a small gesture but you're allowed to despise it. I now had to remind myself that you can not value what I value and that's pretty cool cause we're not one person.
