LS Swap planning from experience! I picked up a pickup to use for an engine donor for my 1955 Chevy Belair 2 door conversion that I've been working on. This is the next step (not very logical) step in the project and I am happy that this car that I was ready to scrap a few months ago, now has a power train!
Join me to see my plans and what the future holds for my '55 Chevy!

Hey there Ed, Corvairs, trailers, tri-5s, video all of them. It's always good to see what other people are working on and you might just convert a few to have interest in other cars.

Keep doing what you do people will watch. I would fit the engine to the chassis and run as many lines and stuff run before the body goes on.

Thanks for the support. I've been doing this for a few years now, well over 100 videos. The channel grows slowly. Some stuff gets decent views, some doesn't. Hopefully the people that are watching are enjoying.

It's interesting what people are into. The '55 will have lots of content as it continues to progress.

I started watching your channel for the Corvair stuff, and the VW stuff was a bonus. I am one of the few who doesn't care about LS swaps at all, but will watch to support your channel. Looking forward to see what you found went wrong with your Corsa engine...

I appreciate the continued support. It's interesting to see what different people are into. I am excited to share the outcome of the Corsa engine, but I just have to be sure that everything is good before I share. It's a simple problem that may have caused a lot of damage. Just waiting for some parts and we'll know for sure soon enough.

Not that I really know which is best but I think getting the engine on chassis before butting the body back on makes more sense. Getting engine mounted has more unknowns that can be worked out easier with more room to work. You know we’re the body is going back on chassis.

I think you're probably right. However there's a few reasons I didn't install the engine first. Check out the latest video and I explain my choices. Thanks for watching!

I might be inclined to set the 55 car body on the frame temporarily, then fit the LS and trans. This will let you know exact positioning of both LS and trans cross member. And make any tunnel clearance issues.. Once you are satisfied then remove 55 body to complete fuel tank, break lines, fire wall paint, shocks, frame stiffener, ect ect. I'm so excited to watch this. Thanks for sharing

Exactly what I would do ! I would even set the core support on the frame too. just to see how much clearance between front of engine and radiator.
@SlowCarFix
@SlowCarFix Год назад
@@easyjerryl69 What makes you think the core support will be in front of the radiator?? 🤔
@SlowCarFix
@SlowCarFix Год назад
I'm glad you're excited. I am too. Should be minimal tunnel clearance issues since I am planning to use trifive specific LS engine and trans mounts. Better not be anyway, I'm not messing up my fancy one piece floor. haha. Thanks for the support.
@easyjerryl69
@easyjerryl69 Год назад
@@SlowCarFix Not sure where you plan on putting the radiator. Some people put in the front of and behind the core support. I was just suggesting to put the core support on too, To see how everything is going to fit !

I forgot that you can put the radiator in front of the core support. My Bad !

Engine/ trans in the frame, see how much the trans is going to interfere with the trans tunnel.
@SlowCarFix
@SlowCarFix Год назад
The trans shouldn't interfere with the tunnel as far as I can tell. I think I'm going to buy the mount kit that's specific for these cars. Hopefully, it all works out.

Get all of your fab work done on the swap. Run all of your brake and fuel linesand anything else so that your not working on your back to do.

So Ed. Fifty hours a week, lengthy commute, and Slow Car Fix. Sleep time???
@SlowCarFix
@SlowCarFix Год назад
There isn't much sleep. I usually go to bed at 9:30pm and I am up and on the treadmill at 4am, out the door by 4:45 to be at work for 6am. I work 6:00-4:30pm and I'm usually home for 6:00pm. This is why I can generally only get one video out a week. I take a full day per week typically to work on shop projects and sometimes in the evenings. If I can't sleep, then I go to the shop. However, my son is grown up and moved away. My wife gets all the remaining time, and I don't golf, watch TV, drink or do any drugs. I also don't sleep in. I do have a few other hobbies like guitar and aviation. This pattern has been working for a long time, but we throw some vacations in the mix as well. Thanks for asking.
