Sneed the cat Ya pull up next to it at a light, when the light goes green ya figure “I have this guy easy” Then it’s staying next to you when the light goes green, and you hear that snail....you’ve been had😲
Kobbetop I bet it’s like riding a pissed off bull. I kind of know the feeling, I built one of those stupid riding mowers that does about 30mph. It was fun and manageable with the 12hp it had,you could ride all day and not get tired. With the 20hp swap if you ride it the same way, you’re dead in an hour of exhaustion it’s a handful.
a trick I have used when a tank has crap in it like that , is hook back to back 4 or so fuel filters , when it starts choking , yank the first one and toss it , and just keep removing the first one , usually a couple will do it , but the redundancy will catch all the really fine stuff where just one won't , when I fuel injected my old wrecker I used ball valves and I have 2 fuel filters , flip the valves and the filter is changed , I had a filter issue on it late one night , and decided a arm pit full of gas on the side of the highway was not for me , so I plumbed in a solution , it's easy enough , and it actually really cuts down on the mess of changing the filters as you can cut the fuel off on both sides of the filter ... just food for thought ...
Hey great idea .... No that really is....haha now I’m pissed at how many times I’ve changed that 1 filter that kept plugging up over and over when we got a new resurrection running.... I love me some tech tips
EngineEngineer I guess you haven’t resurrected much junk from people’s backyards. That one filter plugs a few times, and enough stuff passes you still get to clean the fuel system. I had an old bike that would need the carbs cleaned after every 2nd or 3rd filter when I first got it running. After about 2 tanks of fuel and about 6 filters it was better, but still had to clean the carbs a few more times. Nah, daisy chaining a bunch of filters together for a resurrection is a great idea, saves some time and grief.
A fuel filter/water separator plumbed inline before the pump would have helped. The big pieces will end up in the water trap & settle out. If you've seen old farm tractors' fuel system, you'll know what I mean.
I had sort of the same thing happen to me when I swapped Volvo turbo diesels into a gas powered Hatteras sportfish.. The fuel tanks were loaded with varnish that broke off and clogged the Racor fuel/ water separators I had put in so then I added a coarse screen strainer in temporarily until the varnish went away.
@@FuelInjectionSucks all it takes is one pebble kicked up to split a hose. There's a reason no manufacturer uses rubber fuel line as it's lowest point.
@@obrienracing1 build a shield around the bottom side of the sump outlet so the fittings/pump re protected and run the hose upwards through the frame rails
For a 40 year old rv in the Maryland area this thing is immaculate. It must have been garaged over the years or it came from a dry climate out of the sun. I’m also pretty sure Winnebago has created a new version of this model. So overall this project is pretty interesting.
Ah the maiden voyage. .... had me in stitches when the engine cover was hovering then blew off! All my engine swaps have been a lotta fun too. And how good is the lounge to sit at and do the tune! Well done boys. Whats the next swap gonna be?
Techron by chevron! Best fuel system cleaner ever! Had a three year miss! And over those 3 ive changed damn near evrything you can think of on an older 2.3l ford. Used lucas, seafoam changed inline filter, pump, wires plugs even fuel pump since i had the bed off. Checked sensors, litterally been all over this thing for years trying to get rid of miss! Was starting to steer towards cam or valve issue. Put a bottle of techron by chevron and dammit if it doesnt run as it would of new! 408,000! 93 ranger 2wd 5sp. Crazy! Not saying this is what would of helped you guys just wanted to tell my lil story! Sweet rv!
intercooler is a lil small not as efficient like that. baddass though! 👍 just did a Ls swap w/ trans dapt mounts, Eaton trutracks in a Awd astro van w Holley terminator efi. saden s7 A/c, Cam, ect. Shes a beast! Planning to machine oil squirters into block and lower compression for a big turbo w meth now I want a RV 🤣😎
G Crauwels ...same here...I have a 96 -12 valve with 140 k...cabs all rusted to shit ...20 mpg on highway...the only negative is it weighs 1100 lbs...probably twice what the LS weighs...
With as simple as that front end axle setup is, I'd bet it wouldn't be too serious to upgrade for weight. There's quite a few vehicles that just _need_ a Cummins applied.
Actually Carbs Suck and Fuel Injection Kinda Blows....... Great Vid! I love the MML! May build one of my own. Plenty of them abandoned in SE Portland........
With all the problem you guys have had, no one has got Pernod with hare pulling out. VERY impressive.! One negative, you should have FLUSHED the fuel tanks automatically to start with !!!!!!
You guys want accurate speed use a cheep Garmin GPS it has a dash board setting that displays current speed and other stuff. That is the best way I know how to get accurate speed settings on the fly.
To increase tranquility to the camping experience might I recommend a muffler? How about mufflers on LS engines? I have watched a couple LS conversions and am amazed that the car owner has not gone deaf.
Looks like it was leaking something next to his foot while he was use his hand on the pedal but really cool conversation that is for sure I had one of the and I always said if it had a Ls in it it would be cool
PaganWizard not in my area. I’ve seen gas pumps well north of $100 when gas was sitting at $3.50 and diesel was still over $4.00 and when I had a rental Ford F-150 XLT about 7 years ago due to a car accident the fuel bill when it came time to fill it up it cost $150 to fill the 35 gallon tank with a fuel discount.
Shouldn’t you put some heat insulation above the turbo to prevent the floor from burning? Is there gonna be too much heat since for the tire with the turbo being so close to it?
those clear duralast filters are junk. i put one of those on my truck when i install a new carb and just a few miles later it died and wouldn't start. found the idle passages were plugged with rust and the fuel bowl was full of rust. the fuel filter allowing debris to bypass the element.
a hyrdaulic hose kevlar wrap wouldve been a little better than the plastic loom. there is a velcro style wrap thats easy to throw on and can be zip tied as well
