The secret to get the front upper ball joint castle nut back on is jacking up the spindle so it puts pressure on the ball joint and It'll stop spinning enough you can tighten it with out air tools. ;-)
Does tilting the spindles end up adding negative camber? If so how much. Also did you end up having to cut the top of the strut tower or was shortening the spindles enough to keep it from hitting.
Shortening the spindles ends up bringing the upper control arm down so it doesn’t hit the frame what so ever. Also, I tilted them and that’s what gives the camber (tilted for -10 degrees). If you just shorten them, you won’t add negative camber, if anything maybe 1 or two degrees of natural. Hope that helps
Octane and Zip ties Appreciate the quick reply! How much did you tilt yours in millimeters? Asking because I’m having a buddy tilt a set for me but I wasn’t sure how much I should do. Looking for roughly -10
I'm new to the ls400 game and was wondering what is the purpose of shortened spindles? Plan on lowering mine was wondering if it's something I have to have.
To a certain point you can only go so low before the upper control arm starts to slap and hit the frame/top area. Shortened spindles are to not only go lower (air out lower if bagged) but also help with not having them hitting anything. If you’re looking for camber you would get shortened and tilted spindles
Yes fenders are rolled. Before you do anything you need to tuck both side wiring harnesses before you run thru them and the car is worthless. Tilted spindles are made to spec. I made mine for -14 just frim the spindles
I’ve made and figured out the best way to shorten/tilt spindles. That vifro it ended up giving me like 7 but the current set I’m on is giving me -15 front
