Simply put. The best team won. Florida had all the advantages. More rest, and the pitching rotation set up perfectly. LSU showed who the best was. Great Coaching by LSU. Set up game 3 if game 2 didn't work out. Did not waste his better pitchers left in his staff in game 2. Had the players adjust their swings for game 3 to improve their chances for getting hits. What a CWS Series this year.
Floirda also got a cakewalk this season. They didn't have to face LSU at all during the regular season when they won the SEC, they got the easiest side of a CWS bracket I can remember and still squeaked by with 1-run victories against TCU, Oral Roberts and Virginia... and when they faced LSU in the finals, they never had to face Skenes, far and away the best pitcher in the nation.
After losing so many arms to injury during the season, for this team to come out of the losers bracket, beating the #1 seed 2 of 3 and the #2 seed 2 of 3 really was the impossible.
@@teller1290grant Taylor woulda easily been out Saturday guy and chase shores or garret edwards woulda been our Sunday guy Ty would got innings to but people don’t realize we coulda had one of the best staffs in the country if we weren’t so injury riddled
Most impressive for LSU was defensively they did not allow a single “in-park” run against a team as good as Florida ..all of the Gators runs were off of HRs
All due respect to Florida--who had a killer squad--but they didn't stand a chance. It was simply destiny. The multiple clutch performances by the bullpen when they were needed most; the Morgan squeeze play in the all-timer rubber match against WF, followed by White's walk-off homer to seal it; the Pearson catch against FL in game 1 to save it; the absolute drubbing they took in game 2, only to come back stronger the next day--their final and toughest test of grit and resolve; and lastly, Thompson coming out of his rut to score the first run in game 3, and commence the 8-inning coronation where *everyone* had their moment in what turned into batting practice--all without Skenes. Oh and I didn't even mention the performances by Skenes, Crews, Floyd, and Hurd, or Beloso's amazing storybook ending. It was simply not going to go any other way. It was LSU's year from day 1.
