Matt, I would love to have a conversation about Perkins, but this is the RU-vid comment section and this will be very one sided. If you watch the tape on Perkins, you'll notice quite a few things. He's undersized to play a true rush LB or DE. He was getting taken out of quite a few games in which he "rushed" because his only skill set is speed. He has no power move, no bullrush, no spin, no swim, no twist. It's all speed. He has to come unblocked and teams were just simply not allowing that to happen. I TRULY believe his skill set shines at a more in the box safety role going forward. He has the speed, and he looked okay for his first year in coverage. It still allows him to blitz, but just because he shined for one year with no game tape, doesnt mean that success will continue. And thats exactly what we saw this year.

and that’s where development comes in to play there we’re not doing that so In a lot of 1 on 1 situations he only used his speed

@KuKu-ci8hc he only used speed, because it's all he has. You can't develop size on a player. He's 220 lbs, and if he adds 40 lbs, it won't be muscle and he's going to be a lot slower.

Have the coach put Perkins in the best position possible on the field personal wise and allow him to head hunt. Hes a elite athlete, let him fly to the ball. If he has to think to much, hes going to get caught up and blocked, hes undersized.

How many plays did Perkins play last year vs this year. You can’t say he played the same amount just because he was in every game.

@@sls4009 stats don’t equal impact first and foremost, he played more snaps his sophomore season and at a different position. Not saying he still wasn’t the best player on that side of the ball, but I will be highly disappointed if he repeats his performance from last season

He did play less snaps in 22 but he played a lot in weeks 2-5 Tennessee(week 6) was the last week they didn’t play him though

Stop all this Harold Perkins unlock Deadly force code talk.stop it.. put him in the defense and don't complicate things for him let him work . That nonsense they did by puting him here and there one man caint do everything all we did last year was telegraph his every move which is the dumbest thing you can do with an elite player.have him get down win his one on ones and for the guys who are not mismatches Crete decides and stunt blizzard for them to help them get at the Quarterback you didn't do that consistently with a guy who is wining his one on ones

You didnt watch the games did you? He never won his 1v1s. Which is why he didnt blitz that much the last part of the season. Please go rewatch the games.

@@sls4009 Early on in the year he did win his one on ones before they start playing him like a free safety .the point is he's talented let him fly..all this over management of players and telegraphing there moves pre snap is part of the problem "my opinion"

@creolecajun9988 Blake Baker plays a 4-2-5 defense mostly. Occasionally, a safety comes down into the box. That's the role Perkins will play next year. He's undersized for a full time rush LB or DE, and his elite speed is his best ability. Playing this "safety" role allows him to still blitz, but it also allows him to use his speed to cover RBs or slot WRs. It allows him to cover large areas when playing zone. And no, I never said Perkins can do no wrong. I think you, like most of our fans look at his 5 Sacks from his freshman year because they were electric speed blitzs when he came through untouched believe he can do that every single play, and that's simply not the case.
