Yeah definitely looks like extra grinding closer to the handle. I know DLT is pretty good with returns if you wanted to. Had to return a Bark River for same reason. Then again, most Bark Rivers are imperfect.

I would send it back. I doubt that mistake was made in LT's shop. If it was, I don't believe he would have sent it out like that.

The trouble is that I can’t get my hands on a “Convex” Gen 3. they had the only one available. I think it was returned to them by someone else or it was the knife of someone who works there and they decided to pawn it off on me as a New Knife. 🤷🏻‍♂️. They should refund me at least half the purchase price for the wear and tear that is on this blade. I agree,… LT Wright would Never send this knife out like this. Oh well,… I’m probably going to keep it since the convex version is impossible to find. It’s still a nice “Used” knife. I lost trust in future purchases from DLT Trading though.

@@JoeDoomsday I believe you are spot on in your thinking. Someone had that knife before and probably screwed it up trying to sharpen it. Yeah, there are no convex ones out there to be found as I tried to find one too. I would call DLT and let them know about it and see if they will give you some money back or credit towards another puchase.

It is not easy making full convex grinds , they probably stopped making them cause of that. That slight recurve might make the knife slice better esp feathersticks . Should be easy to maintain just use diamond compound on strop . I love convex edges... My must own is an Lt Right Genesis, probably a Larry Roberts edition . I gotta sell some toys to buy one though, or use my birthday amd a big boo boo lip on my wife 😂

Can I ask you a question as a LT wright fan? I have an outback with saber grind. I'm looking for a nice LT for general use but mostly kitchen. Is a flat grind what I'm after you think? My saber grind is plenty sharp so it cuts anything but slicing up carrots makes me think that this is not the grind for veggies. The Gen 3 is probably a bit unwieldy but it is gorgeous and I would enjoy it's other capabilities no doubt. Any thoughts? Thanks for the video.

Thanks for watching and commenting, I appreciate it. The Flat grind would be best for food prep. The GEN 3 in full flat would be an awesome kitchen knife. A Sabre is more for tactical, survival & defense. A Scandi grind is perfect for woodworking & carving. Convex usually makes a good chopper and batoning blade. (Sabre can be a good wood splitter also.). Most knives can do every task,… it’s just that certain grinds perform better for certain tasks.

@@daveybphotography ,… No. I never purchased one of them. I wasn’t aware that they made them in flat grind. I’ve only seen them with a Sabre grind.

Ya you’re probably right. I was so surprised when one of them was available, out of the blue. I snagged it but it’s sharpened all wonky

@@JoeDoomsday I bought an Lt wright Green Jean Bushcrafter with a saber grind from SMKW. On one side the grind line was straight and crisp. The other side however was wavy and feint. It’s still one of my favorite knives but it made me think that perhaps the exclusives are seconds.

@@Squibknocket ,… It would have been more Professional of them to have mentioned the “sharpening error” and posted some “close up pictures” of it in their description. I probably would have bought it anyway. 🔪
