Good point about some guitarists wanting crazy stuff cause its "vintage" rather than what actually works. I know somebody is gonna show up trying to defend it too. But back to that LTD, it does sound quite good as it is.
Michael Z Martin Not by me you won't. All thats needed is put the old broken vintage parts in the case n replace them on the guitar itself with new parts that work. I've always been 1 to like guitars as something to make music with instead of as a wall hanging. When I want something good looking to hang on the wall I'll get a painting or photo.
CJ99 W I'm not a big fan of vintage guitars. I have a few (mainly because I got them really cheap). They aren't any better than a new one. I especially don't understand the $1.000.000.000 guitars. It's a piece of wood, some metal and magnets. There is no magic :)
SwedishGuitarNerd I think exactly the same as you on that subject. Back at the start of the year I saw several youtube videos from the winter NAMM show. Some of them were more expensive than any of the houses I grew up in as a kid or even what a person would pay for a really high end car. There comes a point for any guitar when money spent does not result in greater sound or performance, going past that point is of no benefit. I can be very rough at times, on people who make crazy claims to the contrary.
+CJ99 W I guess a high end car would be a good comparison. You're never going to be able to drive it like you're supposed to in normal traffic and you can always get a cheaper car and upgrade the interior to be equally as comfortable. So why do people buy more expensive cars? I guess it's the feeling they get from it. Even if it isn't quantifiable.
I like the guitar , the neck is great & so is the look .I just don't like the tone. I would need to change the pickups to Seymour Duncan black winters , but other than that . I'm looking for a good deal on one 🤘
I got mine used for about $80. That's a reasonable price 😀 Upgrading the pickups will surely bring out a new character from the guitar. I've kept the stock bridge humbucker and removed the neck pickup completely.
Plan to get this guitar for christmas, with lock on tuners it'll make sure it stays in tune while I whammy the shit out of it lol. But great job brother. Great job.
mouthcard Boys locking tuners don't do anything in case of floyd roses coz it already has a locking nut. If the floyd is a cheap copy or low end licensed one then you'll only be able to use it for some time and then it will start wearing out and go out of tune.
I have a m10 that for 80 usd plays fine for tossing about by the couch. I ordered a slight better model that I suppose is no different than yours. Its the mh103qm I think now it's new version is the 203qm which only difference is mahogany with maple vanneer and mine coming Tuesday is a few years old. Bought off reverb. Has the maple neck. See thru blue color they call it lol. I think it will be fine as long as the delivery is ok. Has a paint chip in headstock but I paid 150.00 shipped. Lol usd
@@SwedishGuitarNerd Yes indeed man. I've just recently began relearning guitar or learning more than chords and how to lead. Drumming most of 30 years but not in a house nowdays. A small apmt last 10 years. No drums in long time. So. I play keys and now wanting to solo over my tunes I make. Lol. Love it. Drums again one day.
That's for you to decide. This one (Floyd Rose Special) was horrible. They market these as being made with the same base plate as the original, but that is just not true. It's much softer and therefore can't move as easily.
I'm having a little trouble with the pinch harmonics on the one I got. Anybody else having this problem? I know it's something to do with the guitar because I don't have any shred of a problem pulling out pinch harmonics on my jackson Kelly nor my Dean Dime razorback. What's the deal?
And the Floyd Rose and the Ltd branded Floyd are not too much difference in quality. Sometimes it's a shot in the dark whether you're gonna get a good one or not.
It could be the intonation that needs adjusting. If it's off then the notes on the 5th fret (for instance) aren't right and then it's impossible to get pinch harmonics. New, clean strings are easier to get harmonics out of too.
SwedishGuitarNerd Nice!
Could you help me with a suggestion? I am a beginner, I will have to start from scratch. I know very little about guitars. Should I get MH 50 or M 50?? I want to play metal.
The are very similar, but have some things that set them apart. They share the same neck and pickups - so they will sound exactly the same. The M series has a more comfortable body shape to me. (You can hear me complain about the body shape of the MH in the video :) ) The M50 has a simple traditional tremolo (don't use it - it will just make the guitar go out of tune!). The MH has a Floyd Rose tremolo that is great for doing crazy bends and dive-boms, but it's more complicated to set up and has to be adjusted continuously. So for a beginner guitar I'd choose the M50. It's simpler and more comfortable to play. The sounds of it is perfect for metal!
@@SwedishGuitarNerd Do you think Floyd Rose bridge would be a bad choice keeping in view that I am a *beginner* , I mean a literal noob. Thanks for the valuable suggestions :). Your review is really helpful 😊
@@IfIDont_NobodyWill Yes I agree with Kevin. The Floyd Rose tremolo would just just cause irritation and frustration. You want to put all your energy into thr joy of playing guitar! :)
It’s amazing how redundant designs remain a standard due to only nostalgia. I gravitate towards more modern brands who logically progress in building and materials without the stupid misguided love for classics
I don't think a neck is gonna break unless you drop it. And any real guitar lover/player is gonna take care of their instruments. Unless the guitar is already damaged, the wood shouldn't just spontaneously fucking combust while you are playing lol
Lucas Harshbarger Any real guitar lover is usually in a band with a clumsy drummer and self-obsessed singer that will make sure that your gear gets pushed over at every other gig..
