We open the boot and replace the small drop of grease left by the factory with a much larger amount of grease.
We do not add grease, but we change it, since the thickener in the factory may differ from the one available.
Thickeners may conflict and the mixture will lose viscosity.
The main task is not so much to lubricate, for this a small amount is enough, but rather to isolate the sphere of the ball joint as much as possible from contact with water and air.
Some will say that I add a lot. Personally, my practice has shown that a larger amount, firstly, does not allow the anther to shrink, since excess lubricant props it up from the inside, cracks do not appear and the ball joint, thrust or tip nurse the maximum period that the materials from which it is made allow.
The reason for the early failure of the ball joint, rod or steering tip is the rust that appears inside the assembly.
In my case, ShRB-4 (SHRB-4) was used, it was originally designed for this, it withstands low temperatures and has moisture resistance.
The use of conventional LITOL-24 also gave good results.
