@@dreamingpom7314 Seeing as we both are 100% TL, we more or less know why Elizabeth should choose Lucas. However, having binge-watched Seasons 6 - 7, I am now recalling the reasons why Elizabeth should not choose Nathan. I hope for your insight. 😄 Firstly, I find Nathan to be too prickly, cynical and sarcastic, especially towards Lucas after he senses Lucas' interest in Elizabeth. After Lucas helped Allie with the card trick and Allie used an idea about haunted houses from a book she got from the library, which Nathan sarcastically said Lucas got for Elizabeth because according to Nathan is because Lucas is "a lover alright but not about books", Nathan said that every time Allie got into trouble, Lucas seemed to be involved, Nathan seems to be especially abrasive and harsh towards Lucas. Then when there was a chicken pox outbreak in the town and Lucas volunteered to help spread the word to the town's folks, Nathan again sarcastically said Lucas didn't have to do it because Nathan thinks that Lucas didn't have to show that he cares about the 'town', which is his way of saying that Lucas is actually just helping because of his interest in Elizabeth. In fact, even before those exchanges, Nathan told Lucas to his face that he's good at cheating and he's not a good fit at Hope Valley, which was when Lucas said he's not good at cheating and that he's only ever cheated once in his life. Throughout these exchanges between them, Lucas has never once been sarcastic, cynical, abrasive or high-handed but always a gentleman - calm, respectful, measured in his words and mannerism and patient and even though he's aware that Nathan is interested in Elizabeth too, Lucas has never made Nathan feel inferior, which is what Nathan has tried to make Lucas feel. At least that's my observation of Nathan's words, actions and mannerism. Personally I have never liked a man who behaves like Nathan especially towards a love rival. I believe a man should always be respectful, calm, patient, measured, considerate, kind and fair especially towards women and everybody else. We all have our emotional baggage and back stories that formed our character and personality so it is never right to belittle, be contemptible of, or pass judgement on, others, which was what Nathan has shown towards Lucas. The irony is Nathan is supposed to be the lawman, the one who is supposed to know right from wrong in order to do his job, and yet he's the one who has on so many occasions, especially towards Lucas and Elizabeth, done the very things he's not supposed to do - belittle or be contemptible of or pass judgement on others (when he said Lucas is not a good fit in Hope Valley, when he told Lucas he didn't have to pretend he cares about the 'town', and when he doubted Lucas' intention in setting up the library, and he blew up over Elizabeth helping to find Emily in the windstorm when the reason he did that was because he was still sulking over Elizabeth's and Lucas' overnight trip). When a man displays such behaviour, he seems to have an inferiority complex or worse, have the belief that he has the right to behave in that way, both of which are problematic. A man must learn to conduct himself with class, dignity, integrity, respect and humility under any circumstance. And never succumb to emotional outbursts or petty sniping. It is especially beneath a lawman like a Mountie to conduct himself in such a manner. The irony is, Lucas, as the gambler, is the one who has always exuded class, respect, patience, kindness, dignity and calmness, towards everyone in town. After Lucas and Elizabeth went on the overnight trip, Nathan became pouty, sullen and sulked for days after. Then he just threw out the "Elizabeth, I love you", out of the blue, even though before that he was barely able to ask Elizabeth out on a date, or barely even got to know Elizabeth, nothing like what Lucas has done to get to know and woo Elizabeth, all because Nathan felt threatened by Lucas, a rival for Elizabeth's heart. In fact, I find Nathan to be arrogant and high-handed towards Lucas probably because he thinks he's a Mountie and Lucas is a gambler, and that to me is a big no-no. I know men have big egos but I especially loathe arrogance and high-handedness. 😐

@@dreamingpom7314 Secondly, I find Nathan to be the kind of man who seems to be demanding and pushy, especially towards Elizabeth. He hasn't done anything of significance to win Elizabeth's heart, and yet he's expecting Elizabeth to just accept his profession of love? He wanted to buy a piece of land that he's probably going to use to build a home for him, Elizabeth, Allie and baby Jack and yet he hasn't even won Elizabeth's heart, let alone discussed marriage. He wants to leave his job for Elizabeth without discussing it at length with Elizabeth just because he thinks it's the best way to make sure he gets Elizabeth. All in all, his behaviour and actions are premature at best, and foolhardy at worst. I know love can make people go crazy and say and do crazy things but it doesn't bode well for him to do that because he's a Mountie and he has responsibility towards Allie, who he wishes to adopt. If he just resigns from being a Mountie, how does he think he can support himself, Allie, Elizabeth and baby Jack? Not to mention the possibility that if he gets another job that he doesn't like or is not good at, or if he misses being a Mountie and he starts to resent his decision to leave his Mountie job, then he would probably take it out Elizabeth because he might blame Elizabeth for him leaving the Mountie job. What would that do to their relationship? Making decisions based on impulse is a bad sign. Lastly, I do not believe Nathan is the right person for Elizabeth because he's a Mountie. Elizabeth has already lost her Mountie husband. If she chooses Nathan, she's going to have to be prepared to be put through the whole emotional rollercoaster that she went through with Jack. But the stakes are higher now because she has baby Jack and Allie to be responsible for. And really, does she need to put herself in that position again when she has a choice not to?

@@dreamingpom7314 To be honest, both men have good qualities and Elizabeth can be happy with either but in my opinion, choosing Lucas is right and good for her, taking into consideration what she has gone through. More importantly, even before pledging a lifetime to each other, both Elizabeth and Lucas have changed each other's lives in the most positive ways and have demonstrated that they can have a mature, nurturing, supportive, enriching and all-around healthy relationship, even just as friends. They have respected, nurtured and supported each other and they have become better versions of themselves as a result. Many lasting relationships begin between good friends who develop deeper feelings for each other. And that is how I see Elizabeth's and Lucas' relationship. They have shown their relationship has the potential to become a long-lasting and fulfilling one. And don't forget that Lucas' focus is for Elizabeth to be happy and he said as much to Elizabeth, not for him to be happy by getting Elizabeth. Nathan has never said anything like that. In fact, by his proclamation of love in such an unexpected way, he gives me the impression that he's more concerned about HIS feelings, not Elizabeth's. He wants Elizabeth to accept him because he said he loves her, not because she wants to love him, or wants his love. It's like Nathan saying to Elizabeth - I love you, so you must love me too. That is not how love should be. Love should be freely given and received, not out of compulsion, or coercion, or because of a sense of obligation or because of being pressured or being guilt into or because it is expected of a person to do. Yet despite all that argument for Lucas, if Elizabeth chooses Nathan, then I see it as she doesn't deserve Lucas. Lucas deserves a woman who can put Lucas' feelings, wants and wishes above hers, the way Lucas has been and has done for Elizabeth. The ideal relationship is when a man puts the woman first, and the woman puts the man first, always. So, now we have to wait and see if the writers of WCTH agree with me. 🤔 So, @Dreaming Pom, would you like to share your thoughts? 🤗

Well said. I agree. From my perspective, I also found N’s proclamation of love very premature. Based on what was shown in S6&7, N has barely gotten to know her. Their conversations have mostly been about Allie, Robert, Mountie business, and even Lucas. So for him to go from barely being able to ask her out at the end of S7 to suddenly proclaiming his love in episode 2 of S8 seemed out of character & he pushed the boundaries way too far. E clearly told him she couldn’t give him more than friendship, but I think he blurted out the L word in desperation to try to make her stay. I did not like that at all. That’s just my opinion. I’m sure Team Nathan has their own views on the matter. At this point in the season, E doesn’t seem to be ready to enter into a relationship with anyone just yet. But Lucas has definitely invested more in his relationship with E than N has. He has spent more time getting to know her and has been encouraging and helping her achieve her dream of becoming a published author. They’ve also talked about their childhood and their families. They’ve apologized to each other and respect each other’s opinions. So we actually witness a growing romance that has been building up step by step.

Aside from him that comment about it being the story of his life, he also told Allie that he was a bit of a loner growing up and he learned magic to help break the ice when trying to make friends. When E said “Helen Bouchard taught you mother goose”, he said “Helen Bouchard taught be how to read. After that, I was on my own”. It makes me sad to know that he seemed to have a lonely past. I’d like to learn more about it as well.

The writers chose to drop so many hints of Lucas's past but have yet to really flesh them out for us to feel satisfied because we want to know so much more of who Lucas was to become who he is now. He said something along the lines of, "Now, I am not going to deny that I am aware of your beauty. But as I got to know you, I became fascinated by your goodness." Wow! Such a beautiful way of saying he's interested in her. Nothing forced or an over-the-top confession or proclamation like what Nathan did. I was practically melting hearing that! Hahaha!! 😂😘😄💝💕🌹

Yes, and it’s clear especially in S7, that Lucas & Elizabeth have been nurturing and supporting each other. After helping E open the library, he then encouraged her dream of becoming a published author. Even though E was afraid her writing would get rejected, L was the one who supported and inspired her to try again. She not only started writing again, but she decided to reach even further than her short stories and start writing a novel. Elizabeth also inspired L to become a better person. Sure, L started out mysterious and sort of a closed book because he was trying to protect a friend, but once that secret was out and Amos was out of the picture... he’s been open, honest, and even vulnerable with E. I wouldn’t label L as a “gambler” which gives a negative connotation. He enjoys a game of cards and has played with many of the men in HV (Lee, Henry, Carson, Jesse, Bill, Hickam) who have become his friends. He’s the proprietor of the saloon/hotel, but since he took over, it has become so much more. It’s become a great dining establishment and gathering place for community events (dances, anniversaries, movie night, bachelor/bachelorette party, and even a wedding). L was a traveler, maybe even a wanderer, but that all changed when he met E. He chose to stay in Hope Valley and E is the reason. He now wants to put down roots and start a family. He has chosen Hope Valley as his home and has done so much not just for E, but for the whole town and its residents. L values E’s thoughts and opinions. That was exemplified in the oil company situation. Henry made it difficult for L to trust him, but since E believed in Henry, Lucas decided to give him another chance. When E came to L after he’d decided to leave the company, E’s concern for Henry and the oil workers added to his concern, and pushed him to try again to save the company... to the point of him having to buy it out even if he had no experience in the oil business. It was just for the welfare of the workers and the future of the town. I also love that E & L have apologized to one another. L admitted he was wrong to send E’s chapters to his mother without asking, and E accepted the apology knowing he had good intentions. When E came to L asking him how he could just leave the oil company and L revealed that he’d been paying the men out of his own pocket, E realized how hasty she was in judging his actions and apologized. Lucas in turn said “I can’t fault you for caring too much.” If these are not the signs of a mature, healthy, supportive, and loving relationship, I don’t know what is. Oh goodness, I didn’t expect to go on this long 😂

You have effectively outlined every single point of the relationship between L&E from the beginning till now that highlighted how different this relationship is with what N&E has and what makes it very difficult for me to accept if the writers choose to write Elizabeth choosing Nathan even after all that they themselves have written that happened between L&E. @@dreamingpom7314 The reason I used the word 'gambler' for Lucas is because he used it himself when he said to Elizabeth, "As a gambler, I live and die by that", referring to being positive in any situation, when they met and Elizabeth told him that she's hoping to get the townspeople's support of getting a library by being clear about the costs involved. Even from this initial interaction, we can see how honest and real they are to each other. And this was the time Lucas told Elizabeth, "Please, it's Lucas", with the warmest look in his eyes and in the softest voice when he said it, that I believe that's when he's beginning to fall in love with her. It's such a swoony moment for me. 😆🤗😄💝💕🌹💐

Sometimes it is difficult to say what you’re thinking, and sometimes it just flows, but it is really great to find people who you can connect with. L&E’s relationship is really beautifully written and beautifully portrayed by both Erin & Chris. I’m very optimistic and hopeful that they’re going to continue on this path and give Elizabeth her next great love, Lucas.

And yes, let's hope for the writers to make our wish come true for the L&E relationship - for Elizabeth to find her next and final great love and for Lucas to find HIS soul mate, just like what he said his Father said to him about his Mother. I'm sad the writers chose to write that his Father left his Mother in the script because Lucas always thought his parents' love story is his inspiration.

We’re only 2 episodes into the season, so there’s still so much that can happen. Looking through the scenes from S6 & 7, it’s clear to me that L&Es romance has grown over time, step by step, with honesty and sincerity. And in the beginning of S8, L told E that he wants her to be happy. I see true love there and that’s what I’m banking on. True love will prevail ❤️ No doubt it’s going to be a rollercoaster of a season, but I think there’s still so much to look forward to 😊

Disclaimer: This thread will contain spoilers for S08E03. Please don’t read if you haven’t watched it yet 😅 Hello again Hani Dee! You can DM me on Twitter if you’d like to chat more openly 😉 My thoughts about Episode 3 🤔 I assume you’re only referring to the triangle situation. This is going to be a long one. I’m just going to let it flow and see what happens 😅 At the beginning of the episode, she is avoiding both men... understandably. She had just ended things with Nathan and she was still keeping Helen’s secret from Lucas. That was wrong of H to do, but that’s the situation she was put in. In my opinion, this was a Lucas-filled episode. We see in several scenes how Lucas is now very much part of the town. Lucas carrying more books for the library, supporting a new business venture by having his beard-trimmed at Fiona’s barbershop and giving her a large tip, ordering lumber from Lee and working with Mike for the oil company. When the explosion happens, the town comes to his aid. We see L have friendly interactions with Faith, Fiona, Mike, Bill, Henry, & Lee. Lucas cares about the town and the town cares about him. I would have liked to see how H revealed the news of his parents’ separation to him. All we see is Lucas upset with E for not telling him. In the beginning we see how Lucas is such a nice guy, but now he’s hurt. His idea of love has been shaken. The woman he loves has been keeping a secret about HIS parents from him. Now, I don’t think this is E’s fault. This was not her secret to tell and H specifically asked her not to tell him. Nevertheless, Lucas is hurt. I liked the heart-to-heart between Elizabeth and Helen. H apologized, but the damage had already been done. She also mentioned how being a mother was difficult for her. She had a different way of showing affection and she didn’t know how to be vulnerable. E had great advice for H, and I loved the hug between H&LJ. Beautiful moment. Cut to the last scene. Helen leaves to try to fix her relationship with her husband. L & H say their goodbyes. Enter Elizabeth. This is my favorite scene of the episode. I’ve rewatched it several times and I can’t seem to get enough of it 😅 It begins very cold and it’s obvious that L doesn’t want to talk, but E calls out “Wait!” as he’s about to leave. Lucas promised to always be honest with E and he’s kept that promise. He tells her what upset him. He was upset not just because E kept that secret, but because his parents, who he thought loved each other, just separated. E tries to console him telling him that maybe they still love each other. “How do you lose that?”. It’s so heartbreaking to see Lucas so hurt and confused, seemingly losing faith in what he thought was true love. And when E says “Maybe she needed to make the first move.” You see the change in his expression. “What would you know about it?”. L turns to leave and E goes after him. She stops in the middle of the street and sees N, then L, then decides to go home. Credits. And I release the breath that I had been holding in. So much happened in that short scene. So quietly powerful. I love E, but she needed to hear that. She needs to take the advice that she so readily gives others. This was her wake up call. The ball is in her court. Lucas has been honest, patient and thoughtful. He’s been wearing his heart on his sleeve. It’s about time E takes the reins. I thought this scene was brilliant! So well written and so well delivered by both Erin and Chris 🙌 E & L are both hurt, but I know they’ll work it out. True love will prevail. And based on several of the promos I’ve seen, things are looking good for our team. Also, about that last part when decides to leave. Many TN fans are thinking that she’s going to choose N because she turned left. 😂 I think it’s because she wanted to go home in the direction of the rowhouses and not the blacksmith/livery, which was on the right. Hahahahaha! Plain and simple. No need to read into that one.

Hehe 😅😆 But if you could tell me how I can go on Twitter maybe I will try. 😉 Now, on to the topic at hand. Wow again! I'm really thankful and impressed you've outlined everything to do with L&E, which is of course my focus too. And I cannot agree with you more on how the last scene is my favourite and how I've re-watched it like a million times! Haha! 😂 First of, you're absolutely right. This episode is a Lucas-filled one. All the different scenes you've outlined that contain Lucas throughout the episode did highlight Lucas' imprint in Hope Valley. Some fans even said that the scene with Fiona, where Lucas gave a huge tip to Fiona, was seen by some as the writers' way of easing Lucas into an alternative love interest because they say it will be an E&N endgame. I don't believe that and frankly I find it weird if that is what the writers intend to do because the actress playing Fiona is dating Kevin McGarry IRL and so if that is where the writing is heading, it's going to be really weird, and not in a good way. But that's a story for another day. Coming back to our favourite couple, I said that I needed to vent. Well, I hope you don't mind. I'm so frustrated with how the writers have chosen to write Lucas' character arch. First of all, there is a loose end to the story. How did Lucas find out Elizabeth knew about his parents? It was never revealed. What we saw was Lucas basically scolding Elizabeth for not telling him, when Elizabeth was just trying to do what Lucas' Mother has asked her to do - to keep the information about the separation in confidence. And so for Lucas to angrily, and unjustifiably, I might add, confront Elizabeth is uncalled for. It's like the writers have decided that, right, we are going to have an E&N endgame and so somehow we need to turn Lucas into the bad guy so that he doesn't seem such a desirable candidate for Elizabeth's heart anymore. It's like they did a 180 on Lucas' character arch, from the gentleman that they wrote him to be from day one, to the rude, petty, insensitive and callous fellow that he became at the end of this episode. It's like experiencing whiplash! 😳😟😧😮😢 I know that he's hurt, devastated and perhaps helpless in the face of his parents' separation but for two whole seasons and up until this episode, he's always been the perfect gentleman and then to suddenly become like a Hulk? Well, a mild Hulk. 🤨 But a Hulk, nonetheless. 😱 I'm so disappointed the writers have chosen to write Lucas in that way. I know Lucas must be feeling like his long-held belief of the idea of love and soul mate (shared by his Father) is now in tatters because he wondered how his parents could lose such a love, when his Father courted his Mother for five years before his Mother decided she was tired of turning him down. His Father mentioned the idea of a soul mate and now look what has happened to that love. My heart shattered into a million pieces watching his sad eyes when he said, "How do you lose that?", referring to the love between his parents. In an interview, Chris did share that Lucas' idea of love will undergo a shift in S8 and now we have seen why. But again, going back to his words and behaviour towards Elizabeth, I'm just so frustrated with the way the writers have chosen to write Lucas' character when faced with such an emotional moment. And yes, Elizabeth needs to take her own advice and reach out to Lucas because to me, Lucas has effectively professed his feelings to her when they met in the library, where he told her, "Now I'm not going to deny I was aware of your beauty. But as I got to know you, I'm fascinated by your goodness." Now, if that is not a profession of love, then I don't know what is. Oh, I know that quote came from the book, Dangerous Liaisons, but still. The way he said it and the effect it had on Elizabeth? She held her breath until Lucas stepped out of the library. Haha! The attraction was there. I was so moved by that confession - so subtle, gentle, with class, sensitivity and decorum - bearing in mind Lucas is aware Elizabeth is a widow who only recently lost her husband and so he didn't want to push or pressure her. But come on. After that sweet profession and all the other things Lucas has done for, and with, Elizabeth, to now turn him into a completely different person? Where is the kind, respectful, sensitive and well-mannered guy who has stars in his eyes when he looks at Elizabeth? It pains me to see him give Elizabeth the cold shoulder. Yes, he's right to ask Elizabeth if she can so easily give advice to others, can she take her own advice and reach out to him? Like you said, he's worn his heart on his sleeve and even a blind person can sense Lucas' feelings for Elizabeth. And so the ball is in Elizabeth's court now. I'm just trying to remain hopeful for our couple but apprehensive at the same time. Oh, and frustrated still!! 😥😤 Sorry for the super-long venting! Haha! 😂😘

I'm hoping that Lucas take a step back from wooing Elizabeth because I want to see how Elizabeth will react to the cold, unfriendly Lucas, instead of the warm, kind, ever-smiling Lucas. Elizabeth needs to realise how important Lucas is to her - how important his presence, kindness, support, encouragement, nurturing influence, ever-present, bright, lovely smiles and soft laughter really are. In short, Elizabeth needs to realise how special Lucas really is to her. If Lucas' cold shoulder and unfriendly demeanour don't affect her, then we know for sure she doesn't deserve Lucas because she doesn't feel about him the way Lucas seems to feel about her. Lucas deserves someone who will put his happiness before hers, just like how Lucas puts Elizabeth's happiness before his.

@@dreamingpom7314 In one of the interviews with ET, Chris mentioned that at the end of S8, Lucas and Nathan will end on an amicable note, with mutual respect for each other. Now I wonder how that is going to happen if they are both vying for the hand of the same woman? And we know Elizabeth WILL be choosing one of them this season, so how would the two love rivals end up becoming friends? Hmm🤔

No reason to make it into something it's not. Also, Erin did say something along the lines of what you mentioned, which is she needs to take the reins in this love triangle because otherwise how would the two guys know? And so from what you said about the promos, I'm waiting to see how the writers have written their story arch from here on out. Btw, can you share from where did you get the promos for this season, especially the ones you used in this video, where Lucas put his hand over Elizabeth's and their picturesque picnic? 😄
