I hate being in the minority when it comes to Sedans VS Crossovers. Every time I hear an announcement of a new crossover from any brand, I just become saddened from the lack of love towards sedans.
Waiting until later to build a smaller midsize SUV has an unmentioned benefit that doesn't get talked about a lot, which is technology development. If they released the Model Y equivalent this year instead of the Gravity, it would be at a disadvantage to the technology released 2, 3 years from now. With the pace of current EV tech, we could be looking at ~450 range being the new norm by late 2026 instead of ~300-350. By then, the Air will also have received its first LCI or facelift or whatever you wanna call it, with the updated batteries and motors that are going into the Gravity production. If they released the Model Y competitor tomorrow, it would have less range, less efficiency, and less space than a comparable vehicle released in due time.
I agree that Lucid needs for this upcoming smaller crossover to push into the luxury mainstream market. I think that their chief targets are BMW, Mercedes, and Audi even more than Tesla. I think that their extra efficiency will help by offering more range for a similarly sized battery, or more importantly getting around 300+ miles of range from a smaller 70kWh battery pack.
What you have mentioned here is what Peter Rawlinson has been preaching all this time in a way more accepted to public. Nice video and everything well said in logical manner.
Lucid really is appearing to be the next Tesla here (insofar as you can have a next tesla while tesla exists). The thing people forget is that it took tesla over 10 years of losses before they started making a profit. Tesla had billionaire Musk to prop it up, and Lucid has the Saudis to prop them up. So long as the Saudis stay consistent in their support Lucid will likely succeed. It does make me worry about Rivian though. And I hope Aptera is able to break the mold out the gate by being so different in almost every way.
@Tigerex966 as we've seen with Tesla is takes many years for ground up ev companies to go from start to profitable. So, this is not surprising or unusual.
@@Dr.Gehrig no its takes tax payer welfare loans grants tax credits energy credits infrastructure bulls carbon taxes etc with out which tesla would have been bankrupt years ago. Not surprising tax payers always pay the bill electric or gas.
@@guye94 not really they like other automakers get money for making EV s from tax payers also grants and low to 0 interest loans tax payer welfare rebates and scam.energy credit is what made that possible. Not Elon not Tesla not the product but the tax payer
Fisker just got way too much bad press. They will probably not make it. But Lucid generally gets very good reviews from the press, their main problem is that they are very expensive.
Problem is Henrik pushed product before it was ready and now pushing others. Lucid yes was just too expensive per car. Although they have dropped prices. That Sapphire is still too expensive. Seems its a great car since it seems to be have more horsepower and range than Tesla. Hopefully they can come back from these situations.@@JustWasted3HoursHere
Maybe Lucid should have figured out how to make a cheaper version right away. And maybe not produce in Arizona. Arizona has some of the worst workforce I have ever seen. I love the design but their car is for the rich and rich only right now.
With the rumors of the company possibly ending because of their business model financial reports, I'd might have to wait. I really love the Gravity and I'm so close to wanting to get on the wait list but I'm just worried about the longevity of the company. Awesome video!!
Thank you for your video. I do have an objection to people wanting a vehicle from a company that looks at their competitor for example as Mercedes-Benz. I see lots of people on RU-vid talking about lucid motors and how they want them to be a fucking Toyota. Lucid is a high end vehicle the reason why people want a Ferrari a Lamborghini a Bugatti is because of prestige. This company called Lucid is not a Nissan a Honda or a Toyota. I’m a little bit more deeply involved in my study of this company and the PIF. But you have followers that watch your videos and they enjoy your content. Thank you again for making a video talking about lucid motors.
I wonder if buying some lucid stock would be a good idea. Stock LCID $3.50 share. It might be worth the gamble. Nice looking car with very good battery that’s better than Tesla.
Why do people consider Lucid’s vehicles to be high price but not consider their competition to be high priced? Lucid competes with Mercedes, Porsche, BMW and other luxury brands. They don’t compete with Rivian or Tesla, which are priced like luxury vehicles, but are not. Do your research to learn about the products you’re talking about. Tesla is FAR from a luxury brand. They’re not following Tesla in any way. And, the Grand Touring certainly gets 516 miles on a full charge. I own one.
Lucid got screwed at a critical time as they launched when the government decided an 80k SUV is more worthy of rebates than a much more efficient 80k sedan. I was on their wait list for a Pure but now have a Model Y for myself and another for my wife. Don't say a rebate of about 10% does not matter. This car and conversion to the Tesla NACS system should help.
Tesla 1.8 million units in 2023. Rivian sold 57,000 vehicles in 2023. Lucid sold just 8000 vehicles in 2023. It's hard to buy a Lucid because their car will become a brick when they go bankrupt.
@@gmv0553you don’t have to be a psychic to see where this train is going. To bet otherwise is playing with fire. Their management team is bad and they are losing money hand over fist. They have no road to making money and they have extremely stiff competition with Tesla and Chinese automakers. Sure hope you don’t have money invested in Lucid because that money is toast. 🤦♂️🤦♂️🤦♂️
Your IQ battery must be low. Dumbest comparison ever. One company is at stage Y, the other 2 are at stage B,C or may D. Why are you trying to compare the Bs with the Ys? 🤦🏾
