These 2 kids were chips off the block and the talent they had gotten from both parents. Their show with their mother was really funny and the guest stars they had was the best.
I would have had the biggest crush on Desi back in the day! Not only is he good looking, but he has charm and a great sense of humor. Takes after his dad.
When us kids in the family would play fight, my Cuban grandmother would say “No juegen de Mano”, and we would stop immediately. In the 1970s grand parents got their point across to kids with few words because they mainly used “the look” lol.
Lucie speaks about her dating relationship with Bill Boggs, how rude he was to her, how into himself he was, etc in her current night club act. They were even engaged until he ruined it by ignoring her, per Lucie.
It seems Lucie arnaz had a grouse against everyone ,even bill Biggs ,I'm tired of her talking thru her hat about her mother ,pl get a life of your own ,we still love Lucy ,even tho you obviously dont
They said my sister threatened to kill herself when she found out i was going to be born and knock her out of being the baby of the family. She was 7 years old when i was born. Then once they brought me home they said she couldn't take her hands off of me . I turned 59 years old in May ,without her in my life i don't know what I would do without her help . I've been sick here lately and I've not been diagnosed with anything yet . She's been there for me through so much . Need to say thanks here soon .
Did you catch Desi smoking? Boy how times have changed. Must have been late seventies early eighties. Bill Boggs was a king of New York, everyone loved him.
Interestingly enough the marriage between Lucille Ball and Desi Arnaz became known a tempestuous from the start and unadulterated hell during the making of the "I Love Lucy" show . However, we received no mention how they produced some great kids Lucie and Desi Jr. As evidenced in the case of Lucille Ball and Desi Arnaz, we cannot ignore the fact that their relationship proceeded to have been not all self-destructive.
Regina, Lucille and Desi had difficult growing ups, that probably influenced their behaviors. They weren't perfect persons (Desi was a gambler, alcooholic and womanizer, and Lucille possibily was a bit of controlling, but they loved one to each other until their deaths and loved their sons, too). I perceived that Lucie and Desi Jr. are very united - a thing a few rare in children of great artists - and that they always speak of their parents with respect and affection. I doubt that they would speak of them this way if they were terrible fathers.
Ever since I knew of these two, I had often wondered about what sort of family life they had since they were not home for most of the lives of either of their kids. I wonder how well they accepted their step-dad Gary. I know Gary and Lucy had a great caring relationship. From what I have been able to find out, the kids were 10 and 8 when their mom married Gary.I borrow videos of "Here's Lucy", in which both her kids stared, with Desi, Jr. left to do bigger things. From the line, "whoever gets hurt gets hit," which makes me wonder if their parents ever spanked them. My guess is no since the parents were not around during the most formative and important years of their lives. I had a crush on Lucie for years even knowing she was older. When I see the shows, I'd wished I had known her and grown up with her. In a commentary on a couple of the episodes, Lucie mentions how much she looked like her daughter, Kate. If that is so, Kate is a knock out!
"beautiful Desi" ... uh, how goofy. Desi responded well. The interviewer seems immature, professionally speaking. Desi appears to handle himself the best, for sure. ... to me.
The source program of many, if not most, of these interviews is from an era when local television produced many more local talk shows, a situation not as commonplace today, in the era of predominantly cable and Internet viewing. Even though Chicago, Los Angeles, and New York are still major media centers, even those cities produce far less local television than was once the case, usually more centers of network and syndicated media.
Hey, Bill: How about an updated interview with Lucie and Desi, Jr.? Do you think they would join you for another interview? It would be great to hear them talk about their lives since this interview was taped.
Thanks. There is a substantial interview with Lucie here on BillBoggsTv search it and subscribe to the channel (free) also if you are inclined pls follow me on Instagram @realbillboggs.
By the way, looking up Bill Boggs' biographical info., he is quite the versatile broadcaster, besides his "Midday Live" gig at the former WNEW in NY, having been an anchor and reporter at WNBC, a game show host, and executive producer and co-creator of "The Morton Downey, Jr. Show" and the Court TV network (now TruTV), as well having hosted programs on Food Network.
Okay, so Bill Boggs hosted a long-running New York program called "Midday Live," among other credits on his resume. This accounts for the plethora of celebrity interviews accumulated on this You Tube channel. some of them quite interesting, as they feature many subjects at the peak of their careers, ones who, even if still among the living, were a lot younger than now.
Boggs currently interviews celebrities for the PBS program "My Generation" (not to be confused with the former game show of that title, nor the MTV music series hosted by singer Peter Noone).
I still believe that Desi Jr. is the bio father of Patty Duke's son Sean Astin .He looks just like him and when Sean was born Desi Sr. And Lucie went to the hospital to see him. However,Lucy did not want them to be together and refused to go with them.. One reason was that Desi was 17 and Patty was 23 and the other reason was she just didn't like her and even went as far as hiring a Private investigator to follow Patty around town until they broke it off. Then yrs later they released the story that John Astin was his father due to DNA ..I just think it was a cover up because Patty wanted a father for Sean and Astin was willing to be one..Oh well just a little gossip not that it really matters ..
JUDY-- now i know for sure-- Sean Astin has the Arnaz nose ((Aunti Lucy)) really looks like her--too-- Desi Jr. IS the father-- but they kept it a secret because Patti -- wanted all the years back support$$$$$$$$ from Desi.. and she was being a little off with that-- BUT YES-- Desi is the real paternal father.. Sean looks nowhere like John Astin ((his brother does)) and Teller--- Sean looks like the Desi Family...
The bridge between the local talk show era, with hosts such as Bill Boggs, Joe Franklin, Lou Gordon, John Willis, Sonya Hamlin, etc., were such syndicated fare as "People Are Talking" and "P.M. Magazine"-type shows (where such folks as Tom Bergeron, Meredith Vieira, and Matt Lauer got their starts), as well Phil Donahue and Oprah Winfrey, who started local and then went syndicated. Even Regis Philbin and Dick Clark began in local television, before going national and network.
PM Magazine came to my high school and filmed our Geography class..We playing various game shows like "Let's make a deal..Lol ..Yeah they really needed something to film because they came to this little town in the middle of nowhere Virginia..I will never forget how excited we were ..Sheesh!
If Ted Danson Will Farrel and Ron Perlman had a baby it would be this interviewer. Desi was absolutely handsome with a personality to 😍😘🥰 boot...Lucie is gorgeous.
Nowadays, pool reporters travel to junkets and celebrities take on all comers in the same room, in front of the same backdrop, giving essentially the same interviews for local news show feature segment's as to "Access Hollywood" and "Entertainment Tonight." Much better when a big "star" traveled near or through one's hometown, and one could be in the studio audience of a local talk show or at least watch from home and obtain a more genuine and intimate interview experience.
16:20- What a shock! Desi, Jr. smokes. I never dreamed that such a "boy next door" image would do that. His mom had a gruff voice from smoking so much. I wonder if Lucie smokes.
Desi Jr in the 80s went to New Life Recovery took Lucy n Desi Sr with him they all stopped drinking n smoking. Today Desi is a spoke person for New Life he's a believer and lives a modest quiet life away from Hollywood
It happens. Parents were busy doing their own thing and didn't even noticed. He also fathered a child at 15. Talking about neglection. Drinking smoking drugging excess sex at 15. Where were the parents ?
(cont'd. from prev.) production, an about-to-be-released theatrical feature, or to promote a book or musical recording, etc.) could drop by to plug their latest projects.
But perhaps Boggs' most interesting claim to fame is he was once married to actress Linda Thorson (with whom he has a son), who portrayed "Tara King" (succeeding Diana Rigg's "Emma Peel" as the crime-fighting partner of Patrick McNee's "John Steed") on the internationally-acclaimed detective series "The Avengers." One wonders if Boggs also prefers his tea stirred counter-clockwise?
But, time was, just about very media market of any consequence (Akron, Albany, Albuquerque, Boston, Buffalo, Cleveland, Dallas, Dayton, Detroit, Fairbanks, Hartford, Honolulu, Indianapolis, Miami, Newark, New Orleans, Philly, Pittsburgh, Portland, Providence, Sacramento, San Diego, San Francisco, Seattle, Spokane, St. Louis, Syracuse, Tallahassee, Topeka, Toronto, Walla Walla, etc.) had its own local talk shows, where celebrities passing through town (in a Broadway-bound or road (cont'd.)
Just by judging their clothes and hairstyles it looks like it is the late 70's early 80's..Those were the yrs have wonderful memories from back then where life was so much easier and innocent..
Professionally speaking, had Desi Jr. been seeking a partner with talents to complement and/or rival his own acting & musical abilities (a well any inherited traits of his parents, Ball and Desi Sr.), although Minnelli is a better dancer and singer, Duke is the better actress, no question.
@@ChristinaC-fj3yu thank you I thought she had blue eyes like her mother it can happen with siblings right one sibling can have blue eyes and one can have brown eyes????????
For all the laughing going on, I didn't see one genuine laugh in this whole interview from either Lucy or desi. They are both trying so hard to be charming. this interview in reality is two siblings trying to act like they're interesting & fun people , because they're desperately seeking approval from the viewers. Those two are completely insecure.
@@dawnupton8668 Dawn Upton When someone is genuinely laughing there are 2 muscles that move the ones at the corners of the mouth and the one that lifts your cheek bones, that you see around the eyes. It's universal, and I'm assuming they didn't recently have botox injections, which is pretty much the only thing that can conceal a genuine laugh. Sooo...They're only pretend laughing, I didn't see a single genuine laugh.... It's only their mouths moving... so then I asked myself why are they hysterically pretending to laugh thru out the whole interview... Why do they make a joke out of everything. And it just seems obvious, thats the only way they know how to get people to like them. .. Because if you have interesting things to talk about you talk about them. This part is just speculation, but I'd bet it's always in the back of those kids minds how their parents were pretty much legends, and they would never be able to top that. Yet they went into the same field as their parents.... But unlike their parents they never got to benefit from the experience of struggling and earning their accomplishments..., and definitely wouldn't have gotten to where they did without their parents. I read they were ashamed about their parents divorcing as kids... And I'd imagine having an alcoholic father who cheats and a work a holic obsessive mother doesn't exactly create secure confident kids... I'd also imagine being bi-racial in that time would have been a challenge. It was for Lucy and Desi
they are trying to be corny and cutesy cuz in real life they are not as tame. And Desi was a wild one I believe. They're just bored doing this cuz this is not really them. They're trying to behave like the Brady Bunch when in reality they're more like the Addams family
@@punkanellylovejoy702 Yeah, I mean they are acting. This is a superficial interview... They are salespeople selling themselves. It's just the personas they are taking on make me cringe. Both of those kids are insecure as hell and its gotten better with time.... but its just part of their personality.
Purple Capricorn Right me and my brother argue a lot, but we are very close at the same time, we have lot's of laughter and jokes and, we have strong disagreements but we have each other back.
Hackworth Watson I agrue with one of my brothers a lot. He can be very annoying, but we are close I think family especially siblings should be close because they will have your back no matter what.
I Would never ever would name, my children the same name as me and my husband and i, that is just silly and foolish, but they don't favor there parents very well to me.
A lot of people do that. It's very acceptable. Personally I wouldn't either, I think it would be too weird to have my child carry my name. It would just seem a little awkward.
