Dimash had no clue his dad was in the audience. He probably wouldn't have been so flirty with the audience if he knew. We Dears think exactly the same way as you, we are drawn in by his incredible talent but we stay because of his humility/humanity and the fact that he is a generally nice guy. Dimash is nuts. That is how is brilliant. So was Amadeus.

I love it when he smiles like that🥰. Oper2 was the second performance of The Singer competition in 2017 in China. The song is in Russian. A language he speaks fluently. The original was from the famous Russian singer named Vitas. I think it was very difficult for him at the beginning. You have to imagine, until this competition in China in 2017 he never was alone. Dimash, like many other Kazakhs, has the tradition of living under one roof with the whole family all together. He lives with his grandparents, parents, a sister, a brother an other relatives in the same house. And now he had to go to China alone, didn‘t know the country, didn‘t know the language, didn‘t know the traditions or livestyle in this country and up to that point he spoke (almost) no English, except maybe „Thank you“ and „My name is Dimash“. Only one interpreter came along and that at the age of 22. He was almost a kid to me then (my son is 20 so I can imagine…). And after that performance he saw his dad. Indescribably beautiful and emotional. During the Opera 2 performance, he flirted with the audience in a way that wasn’t really his habit at the time (fortunately that has changed in the meantime). And afterwards he said that he was really uncomfortable that his father saw him like that🤭. Luckily he didn’t find out until afterwards because I love it when he’s like that on stage🥰. I love this video because he still seemed so innocent. Just a boy and he didn't seem as serious as he sometimes is these days. He still looked carefree. I think what's happening today in the world worries him a lot. Please continue to react to The Singer competition and if possible the stories behind. You can find them on the Gloria Wu Channel. As far as I know, on this channel there are no copyright issues and there are also English subtitles. And I always recommend switching them on. In some it is important to understand what the song is about. There are a lot of beautiful, sad and awesome songs to discover. Another (very emotional) song is Daybreak also from The Singer competition. I highly recommend you also to watch the version with the story behind on the Gloria Wu channel and then the one from his Bastau concert. It was the 8th performance of this competition. I don’t think there are copyright issues, because the videos on this channel are already edited. I think you will appreciate the Bastau version even more if you’ve seen The Singer version before. As somebody mentioned in a comment, I totally agree that it is always very frustrating when reactors jump on the Bastau version and don’t know the sad story of this song and don’t even try to activate the subtitles. I can understand that a lot of Dears prefer reactions to this version because it is just incredibly more powerful. In my opinion, however, it loses at bit of its impression, if you don’t know why he sings, the way he sings. This song tells a very sad but true story (it is explained in this video). You really have to watch this with subtitles. It’s really important to know what the song is about. In the Singer version he was so sick and had a severe sore throat and fever. He lost his voice the night before his performance of Daybreak. I heard him say in an interview that it was very painful throughout the song, that his throat feels like shredded glass but he didn’t want to disappoint the people who stand behind him and so he pulled himself together and went on stage. He got 5 injections from this doctor in the hospital. And the doctor told him not to sing high notes. You can see how concerned the other competitors were and they suffered with him. They knew he was not doing well and one of them even gave him a very expensive Chinese medicine from his own inventory. The problem was his busy schedule between the performances and he didn’t have enough time to recover. He made very good friends there and many friendships still exist today. After the performance he lost his voice again. It’s unbelievable how he always manages to convey emotions to such a degree. Though I think in this one particular version the emotions he shows are mostly concern about his voice keeping up with the song and the pain he must have been in doing it. The Bastau version (no sore throat) of Daybreak is phenomenal and mind-blowing. So emotional and heartbreaking. Maybe you can do both together. Many reactors do and so you can see the difference between this two performances. In both versions I always cry my eyes out. I don’t know why I have to cry more. Because of the story or the fact, that he was in such pain and performed anyway because he didn’t want to disappoint the audience. Both version were in the same year 2017. They might not have taken Dimash seriously at first, but that quickly changed after SOS. Through ist honest, cheerful and open nature, he found friends very quickly. Contacts that still exist today. Especially to Terry Lin. Just for fun, Terry adopted Dimash and Dimash named him Papa Lin. Do not be fooled. Terry is older than he looks. He was 50 years old then. Opera 2 was very popular in China at this time. The audience were all professionals in the music industry and knew it well. They were expecting the swoops upwards, meant to mimic the howling winds. Very clever composition by Vitas, the composer, used to showcase Vitas’ high range - he took it one key higher. However, Dimash took it three keys higher 😮, delighting the audience. ❤

Je to nový svet hudby, je to nový svetový jazyk, ktorého priekopníkom sa stal práve tento mladý muž. Proste je to už aj o jeho životnej filozofii a jeho osobnostných hodnotách v podstate obyčajného chlapca z Kazachstanu. Tento mladý muž stihol toho vo svojom krátkom živote toľko, že by sa z toho dala napísať už dosť hrubá kniha. Ja neviem, Lucinko, ako sa stíhaš v týchto informáciách orientovať, lebo máš celkovo dosť široký hudobný záber...a ja sama by som na Tvojom mieste ani zďaleka nestihla všetko obsiahnuť... máš moju úctu a obdiv!... ale môžem Ti trošku vypomôcť aspoň s Dimashom. Ak by si si našla trochu času, a zaujímalo by Ťa to... predčasom som pre slovenské redakcie časopisov, vypracovala taký, povedzme krátky, zoznamovací materiál o tomto chlapcovi. Následne bolo na Slovensku vypublikovaných pár článkov o tomto fenoméne. Je to len zlomok z toho všetkého, čo by sa o tomto chlapcovi dalo popísať, ale ja myslím, že ako základné info, by Ti to mohlo postačiť. DIMAH has a 6 year history of "blowing minds" giving "goosebumps" and causing "leaking eyes". Plus, you never know what to expect with him, or what type or genre of music he may have waiting for you. He "captured" me about 6 years ago and has held my attention daily since then; no other performer has done that is my vastly long lifetime. He is addictive for sure, but it is a lovely addiction.

He has a precious love for his family. That to me speaks very highly of him as a performer. Thank you Lucie. You’re very sweet and also a great reactor.
