elsewhere in that interview she says she's been doing the tv rounds since 5 in the morning that day, so she is very tired which i think explains the aloofness - a class lady tho - cheers
I think that's why his fans love him. Because he could make fun of his guests but also of himself under any circumstance, but then show that he actually respects them. He's a master of that
Lucy was great in her day…I Love Lucy was groundbreaking but does not hold up and to be ranked #1 TV show by Variety is an abomination! Also what a shame she didn’t age gracefully…all my critique aside Lucy deserves her place in TV history.
Oh respectfully shush...she began I love Lucy at 41 was all ways insecure in a male dominated profession had to be tough to survive and have her voice and deserves every accolade ever printed and then some...BRAVA an innovator a comedic genius who all ways stated she was not funny but courageous and gave all kudos to her writers and co stars ....I LOVE LUCY HERES LUCY THE LUCY SHOW LIFE WITH LUCY MAME YOURS MINE OURS FOREVER DARLING LONG LONG TRAILER BIG STREET A TOUR DE FORCE DRAMATIC TURN WITH HENRY FONDA STONE PILLOW HEAD OF DESILU LOYAL DEMANDED LOYALTY FRIEND TO AND FROM HER LIFELONG FRIENDS A TOUGH MOM PROTECTIVE AND FAIR LOVED DESI ALTHOUGH HE TREATED HER HORRIFFICALLY AND THEN THERE CAME GARY MORTON...HER GRANDPARENTS BROTHER AND BELOVED MOM DEEDEE BALL...BESTYS BETTY GRABLE DORIS SINGLETON VERNA FELTON CAROLE LOMBARD VIVIAN VANCE CAROL BURNETT ELIZABETH TAYLOR GALE GORDON ALL REST DESERVEDLY IN HEAVEN FOREVER AMEN. ❤
@@January. I loved I Love Lucy - when it first aired in 1951 and it got me thru covid-19. I watched all the episodes and laughed - out loud. Lucille Ball is my favorite actress - not only on tv but also saw about 15 - 20 movies that I also loved. I bought a coffee mug which had Lucy holding vitavetavegamen bottle on it - and gave one to my physician who said she loved it too!
Besides the show being a massive hit when it was first on, she was a major player in the business side of the industry when that was very much the space of men. Even if you don't like her comedy she has earned respect. Not the best showing in this interview though.
Well obviously her comedy was of a different era, and for her time, she was pure dynamite. Her character in the show was very expressive and innovative for a female comedian. Her show set the standards for sitcoms well into our days. Her humor was dry here in this interview, but she definitely had the chops IMHO 😊.
