We use to get a little mad when Lucinda and her posse would show up at 10 till 10 to eat. We were ready to shut it down! Now all these years later I’m proud that We got to cook for them. Lucinda is just smokin hot and a genius.
Saw her in Nashville tonight 8/29/2024. She is older and her voice is not as great, but she is still awesome. A privilege to see her and I hope she keeps performing.
Lucinda Williams That hard-rocking woman with a heart of gold as good as God above along with her brilliant band, Lucinda Williams has the power to blow many heavy metal bands with their 47truck load's equipment off stage
We were friends in 80 when she lived in the east village for a year or so. I stayed for 3 sets one night and became friends and neighbors. I played some harp and drums but never near her league. She had a tune called "Ramone", which was great but got dropped I guess. We caught up a few times years later at NY and NJ gigs and on the bus hang outs later. Marriage I think has been good for her. Fondly, Michael K
OK, Mr BBC Music. A good while ago, I'd never heard of LW, then some woman on Private Passions on Radio 3 played it. It's always a help coming after Beethoven or some such,. but I got heavily into this track. The woman must have owned a chain of shops or something, and her story of why she played the track was more or less : - This reminds me of when I was starting out, and I'd drive to Cornwall and buy an old table for £20, and drive back to London knowing I would get £400 for it ........
I'm always amused by watching Lucinda perform. She writes some of the greatest songs mostly with raw emotional lyrics, but she almost always performs looking so uninspired.
She had a recording career for 20 years prior to this, you don’t need to study vocals to be a great singer but if you’ve recorded several studio albums and toured extensively, you know your own voice and you know how to sing.
