57:40 man I love that part so much, as a sousaphone player myself it's pretty epic to see buyo play like that. I think people don't appreciate buyo as much as they should. He created this band and he doesn't get that much love. But I tried to play parts that buyo play and dance around like him man let me tell you this it's not easy playing a sousaphone and dancing around without messing up.
Leo was known for taking a lot of oxygen out of the room. at times his flamboyant style would detract from his musical talent. Buyo is downright adorable. He doesn't have a lack of fans. Carrying the bass line isn't glamorous but its necessary. A finer musician there is not!
Yo, it’s one thing to see Daro more active and pulling a Leo by dancing around with the saxophone, but him singing is another thing! It’s so mesmerizing to hear Daro actually singing! I know he’s using autotune, but holy crap!
The guys are amazing as usual, and the Charles is a fantastic drummer. His dynamic playing style claims a spot in the mix with the brass, instead of being pushed to the background. I agree with some of the other comments that another "voice" needs to be on stage with the band, someone who doesn't hotdog but who shares the stage with his bandmates so everyone has equal time under the spotlight to shine.
I enjoyed this so much.. I can't understand why some people whine about Leo P missing. Do you think that Lucky Chops are the same without these guys, and each one of them, as long as it has Leo? No. They were all together great, and they seperated for some reason but Lucky Chops keeps doing well and I really enjoyed these guys and their performance!
even though Leo is not there ,this was awesome and huge kudos to the band for hard work and excellent fun! the trumpet reminds me allot of Big Al Hert!
It's sad that Leo's not there, true, but it feels like an additional horn player needs to take his place. Feels like a layer's missing... there's a gap in a choir that's one voice short. The Chops are still good, though...
The order of songs is right other than t he second song. 1. Best Things 2. Behroozi 3. Hoodoo at Sunrise 4. A/B Jam (I'll fly away / Heart of Glass/ Say you'll be their / Aerodynamic) 5. Ska Ba 6.I think Daro and Josh improv some song. 7. Stand 8. For Connie 9. Coco 10. Without you 11. Funky Town / I Feel Good
I think Lucky Chops has gotten so much better without Leo. No disrespect to Leo, he is a great player and provided a certain flare to the band. However, his absence has let other members shine like Daro, Josh H, and Buyo. Daro especially; he is amazing on bass clarinet and can do a lot of cool things. Leo's style took a lot of attention away from these other amazing players. I mean just look at all of the bass clarinet songs now, hoodoos at sunrise and goorgo fully written without leo in mind and they are amazing songs.
I only just discovered these bands recently, and it was Leo P that drew me in, but I have to agree. It seems when Leo is with them, it's just a regurgitation of the same gimmicks for every song. Without Leo, the sound is more varied and the other players get the attention they're due. I still like Leo & Too Many Zooz, but you can only listen to so much of them before it gets repetitive.
Thank you for sharing this. ❤ May I complete your track list as follows: between "Best Things" and "Hoodoos At Sunrise" there is "Behroozi" and right after "SkaBa" it should be "Goorgo" before "Stand" starts at about 31:30 min. Thank you. 🤗
Josh kills it on the trumpet. If you listen to their studio version of Hoodoos at Sunrise the trumpet doesn't sound near as rich and melodic as it does in this live performance. Probably the courtyard setting enhanced his sound, but it sounds fantastic.
Ahora está con su propio grupo TOO MANY ZOOZ el estaba en lucky chops solo para darle fama a la banda. Termino su contrato por desirlo así y se fue jaja
At around 34:40 Daro talks about his parents being there to fight for something. I assume independence for San Sebastian. But I also find it odd that they gave him a fake name on the video and renamed "behroozi" to "hoodoo at sunrise" on the track list. Can anybody shed some light on this, I'm confused. Is it something to do with Iranian heritage?
Looking through all the videos of this band over the years, one thing is apparent: they lost a key element of their coolness when they lost Leo P. No longer do they have the electrified passion they had when he was with them. Likewise, Leo P took a popularity hit when he went back to Too Many Zoos. It's only when both bands are combined that the chemistry and excitement are there. Too bad things had to work out this way as I, along with many others have lost interest in both. Maybe some day they can get back together and regain the WOW factor they used to have
I very much doubt LEO P took a popularity hit, Hes just appeared as a guest at the proms and stole the show. Lucky chops should have replaced that bari sound in their group as its gone flat in the back. Just by bringing that back in it would sound a lot better. Here's Leo's latest guest role. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-krLYZmPRtnc.html
Like many of the comments I too feel the group has evolved without Leo. He is great, flamboyant, entertaining, and fun to watch, but listen to the set here and it sounds balanced and like a band! I too don't care much for Too Many Zooz, it gets much too repetitive. And I can close my eyes here and hear some MF Horn influence for sure!
Why is Leo P no longer performing with this band as the trumpet player is the same one?! That spark has gone big time, the music is no way as good without his performance.
Hi guys without Leo p. do not do your best. The rhythm and the harmony of the pieces lose their groov, this was the quality that made them unique. But where did Leo go?
reinert mommerency if you think that then your just one of those people who don't appreciate true music. Yeah I agree Leo p was a great addition to the band but without him the band is still great.
