2013 Port Adelaide Young Citizens of the Year
In August 2013, Lucky travelled to New York to attend The United Nations Alliance of Civilizations and Education First (UNAOC-EF) Summer School where she represented Australia as a youth ambassador.
#AfricanAustralian Giirre also attended the International #Youth Leadership Conference in Prague and has been awarded the #Multicultural Youth Award for an individual in 2011. Lucky represented Australia at the Duke of Edinburgh’s Award International Gold Event and was personally farewelled by The then Governor-General Quentin Bryce.
Giirre was named St Vincent de Paul Society Award Ambassador for leading the way on social justice issues.at the charity's second annual Social Justice Awards night in 2010.
Lucky has a passion for social change and social entrepreneurship, co-founding and co-directing of the grass-roots initiative, #MuslimGirls Kollective of #SouthAustralia since 2008.
The mandate of the Muslim #Girls Kollective is to decrease social isolation, increase social inclusion and improve mental health and social well being of Muslim and refugee girls and young women in South Australia. To build bridges between #Muslim and refugee communities and the wider #Australian community to create awareness and understanding using the platform of youth empowerment. To provide a place where Muslim and #refugee girls and young #women can have fun and socialize in a safe and supportive environment and make new friends and networks.
Building #resilience and #empowering young Muslim and refugee women to become #contributing members of both their diverse communities and the wider Australian society.
