We had to chance our luck again! Last week we visited Leven - one of our favourite parts of the Fife Coast! We had such unbelievable lucky finds - so many marbles - cats eye, stunning rare blue milk glass, and even a codd marble - we just had to come back to see what other beach treasures we could find! The luck of Leven was with us once again - we even found a unique wee gem, in the form of a marble heart!
After we found those beautiful Buckie shells last time, we were reminded about our friend along the coast who is working very hard to breathe life back into a remarkable, and very quirky, historical site that is deteriorating... We never find so many of these Buckie sea shells, and we know they are central to the project! So, today, we get to work finding some of the beast sea shells we can find so that we can, in a very small way, help provide materials needed the historical restoration of a Scottish Shell House! We'll say more about the house and the aim of bringing it back to its former glory in the coming weeks... for now...

We are mainly collecting these shells for the restoration of a Victorian shell house wall further down the coast :) Yes postage would be quite costly sadly ...

Those big chunks of glass you find would make great wind chimes have you ever made one? Glass sounds so pretty in a chime.

The larger of the three bands looks just the right size for a lobster band. Here in Nova Scotia Lobster fishermen have a tool like reverse pliers that stretch that band and it allows them to place it over the lobsters front two claws so them cant grab the person handling it. They come in a variety of colours red being an older colour here. They often get washed overboard in high seas. You should always snip the bands just as u r putting the lobster in the pot. One shouldn't cook their food with rubber bands.

Haha ohh vape pens ( and tampon applicators !) they are everywhere!! It’s so frustrating that there isn’t a deposit on vape pens - even if it was 25p we would be rich and I am sure there would be less than a few million added every week ! Do you find them too Hansa ?

⁠@@scottishmudlarkingI haven’t found any vape pens in Lake Michigan yet, thank heaven. But sometimes I see them on the ground on sidewalks in downtown Madison Wisconsin. Yuck. I would absolutely vomit if I ever found a tampon applicator on the shore. Come to think of it, we had a terrible time where I grew up in Los Angeles with syringes on the beach back in the 1980s. Fortunately I never got stuck, but I did see one once and it was really scary. My mom used an empty soda can to isolate it and dump it in the trash. Weird memory!
